A Guide to Loranian Elections

Hello, I'm Skundi, one of the co-founders of Lorania, a region you are probably in if you are reading this. This is a guide to how we do elections in Lorania, what to expect, and how to make your campaign as attractive as possible. Here there is advice and tips for you to learn and make the most out of election season.

Government Structure
So, first of all, we need to explain what the government structure is like here, as it is important to know what you are running for. Let's start by going over all the positions you can run for in Lorania, and what they involve:

Prime Minister

  • The most powerful position in the region

  • Has the power to override decisions and make executive decisions

  • Selects the cabinet

  • It is advised that you don't run for PM if you are relatively new to the region, it is a hard job with a lot of responsibility with it. You will stand better chance of winning if you choose to get involved in another way.

WA Delegate

  • Represents the region in the World Assembly

  • Has the largest say in WA affairs in the region.

  • Is able to approve proposals

  • The Delegate is completely separate from the government's influence

  • You have to be a member of the World Assembly to be able to run

  • Sits in the House of Commons

  • Debates and votes on bills that effect regional life

  • Helps you learn about the political system here

  • Gains you valuable experience and benefits your reputation

  • It's a great way to start you political career here

So, there are all the positions that you can be elected to in Lorania, and so definitely think about that when election season runs around.

Now it's time to explain the electoral timeline here, when elections happen and when to get involved.

In Lorania, a governmental term is three months long, meaning that there are 4 elections every year. This means you'll have loads of opportunities to get involved! As per our Constitution, the PM election is on the third Wednesday of January, April, July and October. The HoC elections are held exactly a week afterwards to give any PM candidates who didn't win a chance to run for the House. The Delegate election is on the first Wednesday of February, May, August and November to add a bit of variety.

You've decided to run for office, good for you! But you need to get your campaign going! I'm now going to give some tips on what you can do to have a great campaign here!

    1. First of all, when announcing candidacy, do it publicly and in style! Get your name out there! Make it short and snappy, but provide a few valuable details of you and your campaign, so you can be remembered.

    2. Then you need to think about what you will do if elected. All good candidates have proposals for what they're running for. If you are stuck with thinking about what to propose, then think about a problem in the region, and then offer a solution to it.

    3. Combine all proposals/promises and other things into a campaign dispatch. This allows for you to have a place that everyone can go to,without having to search through the RMB. Make it attractive using NSCodes and there you have a nice campaign dispatch.

    4. With your dispatch finished, campaign on the RMB! Please don't spam, but do feel free to post campaign posts, and you can attach your campaign dispatch to it as well! Keep campaigning as it gets your message heard and recognised!

So that ends the guide to elections in Lorania, I hope you have found this useful. Please do get involved in elections here, and if you follow the tips I have mentioned, you will do well! Thanks for reading!
