Minister of State of Cristina

The Minister of State is the head of government of Cristina, being appointed by and subordinate to the King or Queen of Cristina after being directly elected in national elections from a list of four nominees (one appointed by the reign monarch and three by the National Council). During their four years term of office, the holder is responsible for directing the work of the Cristinese government and is in charge of foreign relations. As the monarch's representative, the Minister of State also directs the executive services, commands the Police and the Military, and presides (with voting powers) over the Council of Government.

The office was created in 1715 with the adoption of Saint Christ's constitution. Until the revision of the constitution of 2002, the Minister had to be a Mantellan citizen, selected from several senior civil servants proposed by the Mantellan government. Since 2002, the Minister of State can be either Mantellan or Cristinese, selected from candidates proposed by the reigning monarch and the National Council.
