Magicals

Magicals:

The umbrella term referring to users of magic, particularly sorcerers and sorceresses. Their first appearance was during a time in the galaxy known as 'The Crack' during year 1001 LinkNAC, making their presence known. They exist in every nation in the galaxy and were widely discriminated. A large number of them were freed by former Basiliarch Deline of Loc' Aris, known today as an Imperial savior and religious icon of the Church of Loc' Ar Deline, the state-church of the Empire.

Even so, their number is incredibly rare with only 68 Million people actually identifying as magicals in the Empire. They are not found exclusively in the Empire however, in fact different nations and different races all have magicals, albeit depending on their culture their treatment varies.
.
Magicals obtain their power through harnessing the energy that is released from galactic rifts otherwise known as the 'Cracks'. These Cracks allow Rift Energy to flow into the milky way, thus serving as more of a power outlet for sorcerers and sorceress. However, there are different sources of magic aside from the crack. Ancient old relics crafted by the divine is an example, like the Materan Artifacts, but another popular source of magical energy is Dark Energy. This type of energy is highly powerful and originates from the Black Maelstrom, the realm of the dark gods. This energy cannot be found anywhere else in the galaxy except the east, where the Vampire nation of Maleroth is located. The usage of dark energy has been strictly forbidden among many sorcerers and sorceress but those willing to go against the grain do so.

Place in Imperial Society:

Depending on the location, magicals will be treated differently even after their emancipation centuries ago but through the Church of Loc' Ar Deline, anti-magic sentiment has decreased significantly except for black magic practitioners. During the Period of Damnation and the War of Vengeance, magicals played a massive role in deciding the course of the war. Magicals have fought on both sides of the conflict and after the wars end, Maleroth had significantly more magicals than the Empire. In present times, imperial magicals are treated fairly most of the time and a notable few have even managed to climb into the upper ranks of government or the church whilst some lived normal lives, running business enterprises and small shops. In the eyes of Basiliarch Leon II, these imperials are still his citizens and subjects and should be treated as such.
