[PASSED] Regional Court Procedures Act

Preamble: A law created to provide foundations on which to build the regional court, whereby all court hearings and rulings shall take place.

  • Evidence as anything that may be used by the prosecution or defence to prove the guilt or innocence of a defendant.

    I: Judicial Structure

      1. A region is founded by a puppet owned by the Chief Justice, where the regional court will reside.

      2. The region shall have an embassy with Lorania

    II: General Procedures of the court

      1. Any citizen may file a case against another resident if they are suspected of breaking a law, this shall be done by telegramming the Chief Justice, stating the nation they are filing a case against, the law that they are suspected to have violated, along with the section of the law that they allegedly have broken, alongside their alleged conduct.

      2. The defendant and prosecutor have the right to choose a lawyer each if they want. The Chief Justice may not be a lawyer.

      3. A jury shall be formed for every court case. The jury shall consist of 3 nations selected at random. These nations may not be the Chief Justice, the convicted, the prosecutor, or any of the participating lawyers. In the event that one of the jury is inactive another nation shall be selected at random. If. no jury can be formed in the first 48 hours then 3 active members of government will be chosen.

      4. The court shall begin by the prosecutor and lawyer making the case, followed by the convicted and their lawyer defending, each having 24 hours to make their case on the Regional Court RMB. Then witnesses will be called and the Chief Justice and jury will have 24 hours to decide guilty or not guilty.

      5. If the jury has a majority the ruling of the Chief Justice may be overturned, if the jury is divided the Chief Justice has the final ruling

      6. If the defendant is found guilty, the Chief Justice must sentence them in the 24 hours after the verdict. The sentence can be: Revoking of Citizenship, banishment from the region for a certain length of time or removal from political office if the convicted citizen is a member of the House of Commons, the cabinet or they are the WA delegate.
