Election Day 2020 - the facts:

The 2020 national election is an earthquake in the politics in Wombelland. It`s the first time since the 1950tes that neither the SPW nor the CKP are the biggest party.

The GRÜNEN won the election. With plus 5,70%, which is not what they anticipate but it is still impressive.

The other winners are the FREIEN WÄHLER, which got 10,59% at their first participation on a national election.
The biggest looser are the SPW. They lost 7,28%. Four years ago the also lost 3,3%. So they lost more than one third of their voters within two elections.

The SPW also lost the chancellery. It´s the end of a reigning for twelve years.
Chancellor Edith Palme announced her resignation from all political offices. The former chancellor and party chief of the SPW, Paul Neumann, also declared not to run again on the next party convention.

The interesting feature on the defeat of the SPW in the parliamentary vote is the result of the senatorial election. They won three of seven possible seats. With their three prime ministers in the Regions, they are near to the majority in the senate.

Now there is a new big party in the stage of Wombelian politics.

The GRÜNE are the strongest party. Altrough it ist very close between the two dinosaurs – SPW and CKP – and the GRÜNE, now they are number one.

It`s now the task of their chancellor candidate Robert Siebel to build a government.

Building an government is not easy with this hung parliament. He will be addicted to on one of the other two big parties. But even then he needs two or maybe three smaller parites to build a government.

Today the SPW – with all their own difficulties – seemed uninterested.

The next week will be interesting.

Maybe there is a government lead by the GRÜNE for the first time. But tonight it is also not excluded, that the CKP will form a right-wing-coalition.
