Timeline of COVID-19 in the Confederation

This is an in-universe portrayal of Linkthe Linkreal-life Linkthing. In this time and age, I cannot stress this enough: SARS-CoV-2, aka the Wuhan Coronavirus, is a pretty dangerous thing to watch out for. For the love of every god across every pantheon, be it historical, current, or fictional (and yes, for the benefit of Linkthose who by TS Eliot's standards would be on the same level as totalitarian despots reading this, there is a difference), stay safe!

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), formerly known as the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and commonly referred to as the Wuhan Coronavirus, is the causative agent of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the disease implicated in the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic.

  • January 25th, 2020 - The Undersecretariat for Health is made aware of an alert for possible arrival of the 2019 novel coronavirus. The first public service announcements are made in Visayan media amid Lunar new Year celebrations. Among said announcements is a set of guidelines for Catholic clergymen. Referenced here and here.

  • January 26th, 2020 - News reports and commentaries proliferate. A call to advise people who have come from infected areas to seek immediate quarantine is made; Visayan airliners decrease the number of flights offered to Mainland China.

  • January 27th, 2020 - 8 persons were put under observation for the virus. Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City, DH takes in five patients while the other three are confined at the Mactan Doctors' Hospital in Lapu-Lapu, DH.

  • January 28th, 2020 - 7 people were put under observation for the virus. Two of them were confined at the St. Exequiel Moreno Memorial Hospital in Puerto Princesa, PW; three were added to the Chong Hua Hospital tally, while another three were confined at the Silliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete, NG.

  • January 29th, 2020 - First appearance of Wuhan Acute Respiratory Syndrome as a nickname for the disease caused by the 2019-nCoV in Visayan media. Visayan airliners stop offering flights to Mainland China.

  • February 11th, 2020 - Second confirmed case recovers; first wave of patients under observation, with the exception of the second confirmed case, discharged. Thirteen patients were put under observation for the virus; 5 were added to the Chong Hua Hospital tally, 4 were added to the Silliman University Medical Center tally, and 4 were added to the St. Exequiel Moreno Memorial Hospital tally.
