Christmas Eve Eve
As election season trudges on, it is nice to remember the tiny things that bring this region together. Though last night was host to heated leftist infighting (as per leftist tradition), this morning saw many of our regular discord members join the general voice chat to listen to New Karelograd read funny pinned messages around a digital fireplace. Our lovely councilor Splootan also made headway last night in his plan to establish our first regional settlement, no road map for progression has been announced as of this writing. The great regional vanguard Confedracy also holds strong to his duty to safeguard The Democratika and our allies by working closely with other loyal People's Front members such as the honorable and reliable Agent life. The terran brigade and Agent Life should be commended for their efforts. British soviets also gunned for a promotion last night and was made Executive Arista. Spaceania, on the other hand, was a poopy bum who declined to join this morning's voice chat and will therefore be branded as a silly billy for the foreseeable future. Finally, I would like to mention to Urrangslan that from now on The Daily Demochronikle will first be posted to the RMB so he should quit wasting his time trying to one up my posting abilities. Have a merry Christmas eve tomorrow, Democratika, and I hope you enjoy what our lovely candidates have to say today!

"Recently, I changed my view for the Roleplay to be soley Discord-based to a Hybrid system, where longer, more eventful posts would be written and posted on the forum, while shorter, multi-person events would be carried out on discord. This would allow for the good aspects of both systems to flow freely together while not overbearing too much weight on either. I cannot claim to have pioneered this idea, as it was New Karelograd who I learned from, and the people of this Region voted for a Hybrid System of RP in October. Soforth, I think the Roleplay should be a Discord-Forum Hybrid. Most likely, this would be an inter-ministerial task, and would be delegated to multiple Ministries or, if an extreme case develops, the whole of the Council.
One of my ideas that is rather critical to my campaign is my Directorate system, which alongside the Legislature, are my two primary topics. Essentially, as the Minister of Internal Affairs, I would appoint aides (some may be elected and all can be impeached) to specific tasks, like Roleplay Development, Public Outreach, et cetera. These groups of task-specific people are what I call "Directorates". As their name implies, they would be led by a Director, and with me, would sit on the Presidium of the Interior Ministry, which would be a committee dedicated to discussing current issues and authoring reports for the public, as well as addressing public concerns and appealing some topics, if extra-ministerial or too troublesome, to the Council. Along with me and the Directors, the Minister-Chairman (or Prime Minister) of the Legislature, would also sit on the Presidium of the Interior Ministry. These Directorates would create jobs in our community and help bolster the publics control over the Region's affairs. They would also increase activity and allow for people to do what they're good at and enjoy, as well as making sure no person is overworked.
One concern I'd like to address directly in my campaign platform is the need for a Legislature and application to such a body if it is open to all citizens. To this, I reply with the following:
If someone doesn't want to vote in the Legislature, they won't apply for it, and if they do, the application process will confirm their credentials in the Region to make sure everything is accounted for. I'm actually basing this idea off of the SSU's Legislative Union's structure, which I used to serve on. It worked (and still works) well there, so I think we should have it here"

"Greetings once again, As questions about the recently proposed Intercon flow around, I found it to be adequate to actually give my opinion on it. Intercon sounds like an interesting opportunity to spread out hands out even further, growing deeper roots even further out in the NationStates community, even though we have had some negative experiences with TDK (Or so question man informs me), I find it appropriate to look towards an opportunity and not so much in the negative light of past experiences. TDK was a mess, and Intercon might very well be as well, but then again would it truly hurt our region to participate in something that has the potential to grow into a massive net of connected regions? I think not! We should very well, prepare ourselves for a glorious future.
I came to the conclusion that, a great way to bolster activity especially in the NationStates sides of things, as this doesn't only revolve around regional activity and the discord's activity levels, but also the NS's own activity. I would like to propose we spill a bit of competitive spirit on ourselves and ready up for a small challenge. Regions have a tendency to show a statistic once in a while, showcasing who has the highest/lowest stat in a specific area, I find that this could be used to create a bit of a game amongst ourselves, where Discord/Region roles (Unique new roles), passed around to those who have so won and perfectly lost those categories, giving it a bit of a proper leaderboard sence to it"
The Gypsy Lands Send Their Best Wishes!
The International Corner will most likely stay as a new section of The Daily Demochronikle, where we visit the various other regions and Discord servers across NS. Since I am lazy and do not like introducing myself to new people, this will most likely mean that most news will come from our allied regions. To start, a word of appreciation to our friends over at the Gypsy Lands. Roughly a day ago the Gypsy Lands sent our region a large tray of digital homemade cookies with yuletide cheer baked right in. Though it may be a stretch to make an entire story out of one RMB post, I would just like to highlight this as this is a very much appreciated gesture and that we here at The Democratika wish everyone at the Gypsy Lands a merry Christmas and happy holidays! Here is to another year of good tidings and close friendship!
Silly Billies in The Socialist Syndicalist Union
Last night, without warning, I was pinged in their Discord. To my surprise, I received this following message:
"I'd like to propose legislation to all who are reading. It is vital that we recognise those who identify as aquatic creatures in our community. Just because one feels like they're such a creature in the body a human does not mean that these people are below us. So with this in mind, I propose to change the law so that all people who identify as an aquatic creature, such as @NemOwO, Overseer of the Words, @Sugurania and @Communist_Sandwich(UDSR) have rights and recognition. Thank you all" - British Soviets
The reaction from their community was about the same you would expect from The Democratika, a lovely patron replied:
"Is your nut a giant nut?" - NemOwO
Checking on The Revolutionary Communist Alliance
One of the first things I saw upon opening TRCA's Discord in well over a month of absence from NS was the development of their own NS Political Theory by a nation named Red highvalley. Their so called "Orangist" manifesto dropped the 19th of November espousing a form of NS Marxism to be spread across the site. Out of love for NS Political Theory as well as respect for the region and anyone pursuing NS's theoretical development, the Orangist Manifesto will be posted down below:
ORANGE WAVE
Our Science
Through our experience in Nationstates we have come to the conclusion that social interaction here are not unlike societies on a smaller scale. There is a mover for our overall small community, although labour isn't present, activity (the investment and time of nations) take its place, moving the political and civil landscape of Regions. Regions form for a certain material condition, i.e. a group of friends with the time, the separation from another region and the like, and doing so form their thesis, why and how they exist. Those Regions who then prove adapt to the material conditions of Nationstates as a whole continue until they are big enough and have enough activity to form an antithesis, that which opposes the ancient structure of those useless material conditions. Proving unable to continue the old system, through reformation or revolution the Region is changed, forming a new Region or a new system, to continue the progress of our histories.
Orange Wave is not necessarily one movement under one name, it is the understanding that material conditions change and determine Region's governments. It allows us to understand and expect these changes, analysing our current situation to determine our needed future.
Orange Wave's current main goals are:
- Removal of Inactive Governments
The Removal of Inactive Governments, which isn't limited simply to those who aren't logging in or ceased to exist but to those not respecting their Region's activity, a government which doesn't account for their nation's participation is as good as inactive.
Wide Direct Democracy
Power lies in the people, and so does political and civil legitimacy. Through direct and simplistic semi-direct democracies Regions can achieve true democracy under people's power, and not only in name. A democracy with no debate but only applause is as good as an oligarchy, as is one with little participation. People must participate in legislature and directly elect if not make up the executive, if they do not go through people's approval either socially or legally they must be removed.
Simplification and Centralisation of Government
Overcomplicated and overdecentralised governments lead to wasted activity and disencourage nations from participating in the democratic process. Complicated constitutions and centralisation may be important in specific cases but must not make up the entire Region, if only specialised scribes can interpret and know the essentials of law then it cannot be called a democracy.
Rejection of Invasion and Defence Mechanics
Invasions and defences as the same side of the redundant coin are seen necessities to reject where possible. Exercises in futility for petty reasons, sometimes fun and exciting, but in the end negative as a whole and against the supposed 'goals' of Nationstates.
Interregional over Regional Identity
The Orangist acknowledges the community is not only of his Region, it depends and supports the entire community of Nationstates. As its essential symbiotic component it also prioritises itself as to be of equal importance, but overall if they are to chose they must support the largest acceptable community as a whole. The Region is only a name for the sum of its parts which are the actual lifeblood and who make up the reason you're still here.
Through protests, revolutions and mass activity we hope to spread Orangist ideas through Regions, acknowledging the strength of progress and unity against tired reactionaries and divisions.
Status on Gremblo Shorts
Gremblo will be taking another break as I find it difficult to both post the Chronikle and full Gremblo episodes separate from each other. Hearing people's feedback during VC this morning, the Gremblo shorts embedded within the Chronikle seem to be a miss, and therefore, for the sake of maintaining quality I found it best to not continue down this path. An alternative route or publishing schedule will be in the works in the near future.
