Due to an enterprising, if not eccentric, magesmith with a downright fascinating idea, these mirrors can serve a purpose beyond mere vanity. Utilizing fine tuned runes, small, handheld mirrors can display that which faces another mirror that is paired to them and vise versa, enabling a two way communication method. Of course, the expense in producing enough glass to make these, even for just the upper class, is overwhelming, let alone the runic expertise required to make them.

Summary: A school of magic focused on the raising of dead, the control of the raised dead and the usage of the raised dead for all manner of purposes. Those raised dead can vary in form, function and general intelligence, from shambling, bestial corpses whose sole driving will is that of their controller to agile, intelligent liches whose will is their own and wield frightening powers of their own. Should one tread the path of necromancy, Lichdom will inevitably tempt them, the treasure of immortality with their powers intact for a high, most often terrible, price. The energy wielded by necromancers is, despite its acceptance as a necessary tool, is anathema to life itself and should a necromancer lose control of their magic, they will be consumed and turned into mindless, insane beasts with no control over themselves, or their magic. Furthermore, the undead themselves require this energy to remain functional and are therefore poisonous to their enviroment. One can find an abundance of undead by investigating areas where decay and death lay like a thick fog, choking life and those who still cling to it. Note: Skeletons and Zombies already allowed, need to research more advanced forms of undead.

Formidable combatants, Wights also possess innate knowledge of the more basic rites and spells of demonology and necromancy. Given time, they can rapidly overwhelm a battlefield in lesser demons and undead they have personally raised. Clad in dark robes and armor, they typically fight with glaives and sabers, enchanted with unholy hellfire, but the more elite of their number take to the field with two handed, one edged blades.

Summary: Simply put, Spirit Binding involves the bonding of a spirit with that of a living, or unliving, host. There are a number of benefits to this, such as the spirit having a stable anchor in our realm, drastic empowerment of the host and more effective control over the spirit. The bond can be best described as a merger of consciousnesses or souls and is best done between a willing spirit and a willing host, as it makes the process drastically easier and shorter. However, unwilling hosts or spirits can be made to bond, though this is incredibly dangerous for a multitude of reasons. If a host is willing, but the spirit is not, then the host must constantly suppress the lingering elements of the spirit's consciousness lest it overwhelm him/her and violently express its dissatisfaction. While a field in its own right, it does have some overlay with necromancy and could potentially yield interesting collusions.

Summary: Blood Magic, in the form laid out here, is a monstrous perversion of life magic. Generally, those who practice life magic are benevolent, gentle folk who seek to use nature to benefit themselves and those around them. Blood magic, however, is rather different. Those who practice it gain many abilities, such as control over blood, the knowledge of blood runes and increased capabilities in the realm of flesh crafting. While runes play a central role in Hizdahrian blood magic, it is the instinctual control of blood that enables it. Runes are learned and meant to fulfill certain tasks, while blood control is an instinctual act and excels in versatility. This versatility is displayed in the myriad of ways one can control blood, from crystallizing it into armor and weapons, as well as using it more directly offensively and defensively like crystallizing and hurling spikes or forming a shield out of blood. In the realm of fleshcrafting, one can use insitinctual blood control coupled with runes carved into the skin to bolster and enhance their own body, from increasing strength and agility to improving reflex speeds and decision making. On a darker note, one can also use certain runes to enslave others, via the same method of affecting one's own body.

Summary: Springing across the battlefield, body warped and shaped by bent and broken minds, an abomination of flesh, bone and fell sorcery strikes with the desperate fury of the enslaved. The Strider is an agile creature, but ungainly and compensating with its arm blades, its hands sacrificed and replaced with hardened and enchanted bone blades. Created from a still living subject, the brain and body are remolded and reshaped into a being only capable of violence and servitude, inevitably slain and recycled as mere material for more materials. Certain Strider specimen are selected to have fleshy pods fastened to their backs, which serve as pheromone dispensers to bolster and encourage their brethren, nicknamed as Alphas. Their blades are enchanted to drain the life from their victims, to further extend the lifespan of the victorious Striders, driving them to desperately assault their foes to prolong their agonized existence, utterly enslaved to the will of their creators and, often enough, their destroyers.

Summary: Towering, monolithic, a titan of flesh forged muscle and imbued hatred. Fashioned from the bodies of dozens of full grown men and filled with the spirit of a malefic beast of the underworld, the Juggernaut is a walking tank, clad in finely wrought and enchanted armor and wielding a colossal warhammer. Impetuous, arrogant and temperamental, the Juggernaut is as dangerous to its allies as it is to their mutual enemies, great swings and enraged charges destroying all before it. Its size is its greatest strength and weakness, as while it can endure a great deal of punishment, it is also a magnet for enemies to direct themselves towards, if they have the balls for that course of action. Much like a missile, one steers and guides the Juggernaut to battle, then stands back while it does its thing. Unless a Fleshsmith is directly perched atop it and guiding it with their magic in a symbiotic union, a Juggernaut is uncontrollable and difficult to stop once it has begun to rampage. It is an unsubtle, crude and obscene creature, designed for neither stealth nor subtlety, and to openly display and utilize it is to show the world far too much of Baaltec's true identity.

Summary: A frankly fascinating specimen, the Yellow Bacteria is a bacteria with viral behavior. Notably, while the bacteria can survive in the human body, it does not display its most fascinating ability unless the infected has a weak immune system or has expired. The bacteria reproduces rapidly and begins to hamper bodily functions in the host, leading to death via organ failure. Upon the death of the host or the host's immune system being too weak to resist the bacteria, the bacteria begins mutating and manipulating the dead cells. If the host has been too damaged, the bacteria will make it form a sort of living carpet to absorb nutrients and spread itself. Additional information on expired and stable hosts will be derived from further research.

Summary: This particular mutation is displayed in both pre-mortem and post-mortem infection stages. The pre-mortem stage involves the host coughing and expelling YB particles into the air, with the mutation enabling the pathogen to survive longer without a host in this stage, spreading the infection. The post-mortem stage is decisively interesting. You see, the living bacterial carpet is turned into a component of terraforming, as it begins to emit clouds of bacterial particles which in turn make the air incredibly unhealthy to breath in. Doing so for even a few seconds can lead to infection originating in the lungs, with a few minutes of exposure leading to rapid onset of infection and asphyxiation as the lungs rapidly decay and mutate, thus providing new biomass.

Summary: The virus is spread via body fluids such as blood and saliva, the latter of which due to the usage of bites by those who have fully succumbed to infection. Depending on the amount of viral mass transferred, full infection rate (amount of time till host fully succumbs to infection and adopts traits similar to other fully infected) ranges between twelve hours to a day. Those infected display acute inflammation and fever, as well as stomach and muscle aches and pains, as well as buildup of black fluid in the bloodstream and saliva. Due to the rapid onset of symptoms and infection, the bodies of the infected are notably weakened, turning them gaunt and pale with baggy, reddened eyes. Those in the later stages of infection begin experiencing visual hallucinations, most notably viewing non-infected as demonic entities. These hallucinations trigger a drastic uptick in adrenaline and aggression, causing outbursts of violence, mania and cannibalism. The virus also displays aggressive mutative properties, notably straining its inherent fail safes designed to minimize unwanted collateral damage. On one occasion, the virus became airborne, causing a Level Five containment breach and requiring [REDACTED]. It is recommended thusly that the virus be used as sparingly as possible and only be deployed in situations in which Baaltec itself is fundamentally under threat.

Summary: It does seem that life can be twisted in a number of ways to spawn foul abominations. In this case, it is less twisted and more pushed into a direction most would find to be highly appalling. While life mages seek to use nature to heal and aid in the growing of crops and such, there is a subset that instead seeks to utilize that collection of life commonly referred to as disease, pestilence or ailment. Be it enhancing infectivity, severity or lethality, this is a subset meant for the purposeful creation of bioweapons and microscopic killing machines.
