St. Nicholas Day

St. Nicholas Day, often shortened to just St. Nicholas, is a festive day in Valentian Elysium, occurring on the 6th December of every year.

On the eve of December 5th, children and families usually leave their Christmas stockings above their fireplace (or a wall if a fireplace is unavailable), and leave their shoes below the stockings. In the morning, children wake up and see that St. Nicholas has come - their stockings and shoes are filled with goodies. In the case that the child was good during the year, they receive chocolate or some sweets. Those who did mischief and were not good throughout the year received onion in the better scenario, and coal in the worst scenario.

It is said that St. Nicholas is accompanied with two beings. One is an angel sent from the heavens, and another a devil sent from hell. The chocolate is given by St. Nicholas and the angel, while the devil gives out the coal and onions to the bad children. The three roam around and distribute their gifts throughout the night.
