Welcome to Thalassia // Master Dispatch

Welcome to Thalassia!

Hello and welcome to the region of Thalassia, a seafaring bastion of freedom and democracy! We're so glad you've decided to join our community. This guide is for all new Thalassians, whether you are new to the game in general or just new to our region. Still have questions? Ask on the RMB/Discord or reach out to a member of our government!

Note: Some of the information in this dispatch may be out of date, but I try my best to keep it current! If you would like to suggest an edit or addition, please contact Sho.

Your First Steps

So you've just joined our region, you've answered your issues, and now you're not sure what to do next? Not a problem!

First things first... Have you blocked those pesky recruitment telegrams? If yes, perfect! Next question.

Step-by-Step Guide to Blocking Recruitment Telegrams

Step 1: Click on your nation's Telegrams.

Step 2: Click on your Telegram Preferences.

Step 3: Select the Block All option next to Recruitment, then click the Update Filter button.

And that's all there is to it! Now your telegram inbox won't get filled up with recruitment telegrams anymore.

Don't hesitate to let a regional officer know if you have any questions!

Read factbook

Now... Are you a member of the WA?

Step-by-Step Guide to Joining the World Assembly

Step 1: Click on your nation's Settings.

Step 2: Verify that you've provided a valid e-mail address.

Step 3: Click on the World Assembly.

Step 4: Click the Apply to Join button.

Step 5: You'll be redirected to a page verifying that your World Assembly activation e-mail will be sent.

Step 6: Check the e-mail you provided in your Settings for your World Assembly activation e-mail.

Step 7: Click on the link found in your World Assembly activation e-mail.

Step 8: You'll be redirected to a page to confirm you're joining the World Assembly. Click the Confirm button.

Step 9: Congratulations, you're in the World Assembly! Now if you don't mind, please take a minute to endorse Arenado, Thalassia's WA Delegate, to increase the number of votes he can cast in the World Assembly on behalf of the World Assembly nations of Thalassia. Just scroll down to the bottom of his nation page and click the Endorse button.

Very Important!!! Remember that you can only have one nation in the World Assembly at a time. It's against NationStates rules to have more than one World Assembly nation at the same time. As long as you use the same e-mail address for all of your nations, the game will prevent you from accidentally joining the World Assembly with more than one nation, so it is highly recommended that you use the same e-mail address for all of your nations!

Don't hesitate to let me or any of the Regional Officers know if you have any questions!

Thanks to Wymondham for help in putting together this dispatch!

Read factbook

But Sho! Why should I join the WA? I'm glad you asked, theoretical other half of this conversation! Even though our citizens are not required to join the World Assembly or "WA", they should consider it because:

WA citizens have the right to vote on World Assembly legislation as well as participate in our regional referendums, run for a regional office, and to collect and give endorsements, which strengthen our region. And when you endorse our Delegate and Vice Delegate, you're giving our region more of a say on the world stage! You can also enroll in our endorsement program ThalassiEndos which encourages endorsement swapping, incentivized by prizes.

Obviously, to participate in this program, first you must be a member of the WA.

Next, you need to endorse the key 5. Our current Delegate, Zentata, and his Vice-Delegate, Ayeinc, ask that you not only prioritize endorsing them, but also the following nations: Owl Archipelago, Arenado, and Sho. Though you are not required to, it’s important to consider for the security of our region! If you’re not endorsing these nations, you may be pinged periodically in The Vice-Delegate’s Mention as a reminder.

Finally, telegram Zentata and request to join “The Anchors”!

Now... Introduce yourself on Thalassia's RMB and become a part of our community. Consider Linkjoining our Discord. Request your spot on the map and start roleplaying. Perhaps write a factbook or two. NationStates is made richer by its users' imaginations! (back to top)

Rules And Regulations

Thalassian Government

Roles of the Ministries

The Prime Minister oversees the Cabinet, comprised of four mandatory ministries (and any additional ones the incumbent Prime Minister may create for the term), which is appointed to assist with various regional programs and activities. Each ministry serves as an important cog in the machine that keeps this region running!

The mandatory ministries and their respective roles are:

  • Culture

The Ministry of Culture is in charge of planning, managing, and moderating community events and activity, ranging from games to cultural enrichment to roleplay. They also manage the map of Thalassia, a crucial tool to regional roleplay.

  • Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs handles diplomacy with other regions and organizations. Members of this ministry serve as ambassadors to our embassies and integrate themselves into their communities, looking for ways to strengthen our relationship, whether through official or casual means.

  • Information

The Ministry of Information ensures our citizens have access to important information and regional news. They oversee the integration of newcomers and maintain our regional newspaper. If you ever have a question, these are usually the people to ask- if they don't know, they'll point you to someone who should.

  • Security

The Ministry of Security oversees the moderation and safety of our community, as well as the collection and management of intelligence necessary to the Thalassian government. 'Nuff said.

This administration’s current additional ministries and their respective roles are:

  • Administrative Affairs

The Ministry of Administrative is a tool for the Prime Minister an his government to aid in advising and assisting the ministries in tasks that may be more cumbersome than their usual day to day duties. The Minister and Deputy of this non-staff Ministry are also tasked with the occasional community review to ensure the government is doing its best to serve the community.

  • Recruitment

The Ministry of Recruitment is a nation’s first introduction to Thalassia - people who participate in this ministry reach out to new nations to introduce and recruit them to our region.

How to Join the Ministries

The Cabinet is requested to handle the recruitment for their ministries directly. Nations are encouraged to telegram the minister of the ministry they would like to partake in.

New citizens are encouraged to apply and build their resumes. Applicants may partake in more than one ministry, but the Prime Minister or a cabinet minister may dismiss you from a position if they believe you are spread too thin.

Welcome, Dear Reader, to the first ever edition of “The Wave” Thalassia’s regional newspaper.

This edition has been many months in the making, with a dedicated team of 5 writers for this edition. We have strived to cover every major occurrence in Thalassia since Arenado was elected as Prime Minister and it has certainly been a hectic few months, with new RPs, resignations and elections at every turn. Special thanks must be given to Sho for her relentless drive, passion and excellent editing and publishing skills, Arenado for his endless patience throughout the trials and tribulations of the last month and my deputy Owl for filling in the gaps when real life has not always been kind to me. Although fate seems to have conspired against us every time we have thought we are ready to publish, we are now able to present you with the first edition of The Wave, “a newspaper with porpoise”, for you to peruse.

Baseball has officially begun in Thalassia, with the 21 teams of the Regional and Thalassian leagues vying for dominance! The first weeks have been jam packed with home runs, losses, and victories. Each team has had highs and lows, but spirit is still strong. Certain teams have come out in the lead over the past few weeks, like the well trained Zeneslav National Team, with Bňrjs Zagrŕjev leading them as manager. They [The Zeneslav National Team] play at the Andrčj Źenejčv Memorial Baseball Stadium in Cśevŕljsk, and the abilities of their players are excellent, especially Hů Lňng, their star first baseman. They have won 16 out of 25 total games, a 64% winning percentile. Another star team is the Greenville Spirit of Basalandia, with a 72% percentile. The Zylan Zingers, playing in the Ion Center, have won 15 out of their 25 games, and therefore have a 60% percentile. Of course, not every team can succeed like these folks, and some of the bottom teams are the Nonadia Parrots, who have won 8 out of 17 games, a 40% winning percentile, and the Cat City Clawzz, who have the exact same statistics. It is still early in the season, so they can still stage a comeback and end it [the season] strong. This season of baseball is looking like it’ll be an exciting romp, so Thalassia, let's go play ball!

In the competition, every three days, the schedule is released, then the results the day after. The teams play around the same number of games, and competitors can see how they are doing in their teams leaderboards. All players have so far taken to mainly broadcast format in their RP posts, sometimes with excerpts from the games. The spirit has been fun and light-hearted, with undoubted thrills of adrenaline when you find that your team won not a game, not two games, not three games, but four amazing games. Or you lost them all. Participation on the factbook side of the RP has also been astounding, with most players releasing at least a logo, and some taking the time to write up detailed histories and overviews of their teams. A very helpful reference guide has been written by Veaetmar to help you navigate through the 21 team’s intricate factbooks. Let us just dwell on that number for a second. Twenty-one teams. That is a great turnout that we got, and so far interest in other sporting events is high. I, like many others, see an olympics in Thalassia’s future, although the organizational effort for that would be immense. This season of baseball is proving to be a catalyst for Thalassian RP. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go write a RP post!

by Badivermeraed

Thalassian Thoughts is a segment of the Wave where we interview (read: interrogate) various members of our region and catch a glimpse into the minds of the people behind the screen. This edition, Badivermaraed sits down with Prime Minister Arenado to discuss roleplay, his hopes for Thalassia, and the only correct favorite food.

Bad: Hi folks! This is Badivermeraed, sitting down with Arenado, the PM [Prime Minister].

Arenado: Hello!

Bad: First, how'd you come up with the Baseball RP? Can you explain what's behind it?

Arenado: Well, I love Baseball (Colorado Rockies all the way) and with baseball season starting soon I really wanted to indulge in something I loved. That and I am not very familiar with sports other than Soccer. I felt that Baseball was the best choice for the Sports RP I had been working on for close to two months.

Bad: Now there's two leagues, if I'm correct. One of them is the Thalassian League, which you and I are in, and one of them is the Regional League, right? Are you planning on using baseball as a diplomatic outreach program?

Arenado: Not per say, the reason there are two Leagues is too emulate the real life MLB Leagues, the Regional League is an expy for the National League and the Thalassian League is an expy for the American League, but I did leave the RP open for our embassy regions to participate in the RP and I am glad we have had a large number of participants from other regions.

Bad: What would you say is your #1 goal for the region right now?

Arenado: After getting the Sports RP off the ground, settling into the position, and dealing with the initial challenges like the unexpected Presidential Election, I hope to finally embark on my platform of Administrative Reform- things like a Ministry of Recruitment, legislation and government reforms.

Bad: Is there anything that surprised you about being PM?

Arenado: Well, beyond the unexpected events? I had never served in a head of government role before so I had no idea what to expect, to be honest, but I feel like I am finally getting a hang of the position.

Bad: For funsies- what's your favorite food?

Arenado: Ribeye steak and a baked potato. Medium rare.

Bad: That's correct. What's one thing you like about your cabinet?

Arenado: Really, everyone currently in it has excelled themselves in my view, I could not ask for a better cabinet.

Bad: How has becoming PM changed your mindset on NS, if it has why?

Arenado: I've never really been terribly interested in the GP [Gameplay] side of things and my time as PM has not changed that, however, I have found a new appreciation for other regions.

Bad: In your own opinion, what is the best possible scenario for the rest of your time as PM?

Arenado: We get the Administrative Reforms I would like passed, we open one new embassy, we finish our Culture Projects, and we release the first edition of the Wave.

Bad: Final question, If you could tell everyone in NS one thing, what would it be?

Arenado: Just have fun and be nice to each other. Don't be cruel to each other, please.

Bad: Alright, I'm Badivermeraed, this has been Arenado. Arenado, always a pleasure.

Arenado: Thank you!

A piece where I endeavour to answer questions posed to me by people. If you’re interested in submitting a question for this segment, telegram me or contact me on our regional discord.

Hey Arenado, what's the best way to handcuff a one armed man? Asking for a friend.

So, a little background of mine: I was a Police Officer for 2 years in Singapore. Now, I am not a subject matter expert with regards to the police; I do not know all there is to know about the police, even in what was once my own Force, let alone in nations I have never been to. Most of what I am about to say is my opinion and knowledge informed by my experience and training. I claim no unique genius with regards to my answers. So, now that the obligatory preamble is out of the way, let me get down to it.
I actually did receive training in what to do in the event that you had to handcuff a man with one arm (along with other unique situations such as pregnant women, foreign dignitaries, incredibly obese individuals, etc.) and what I was trained to do, in that situation, was to handcuff the arm to the subjects belt or belt loops if possible. If not, there are several possible alternatives including using several pairs of handcuffs to wrap around the subjects body, or even using “grip restraints” (cloth restraints that secure the subjects arms to the subjects body).

But, in my experience, what most patrol officers, myself included, may do in that particular situation would be to secure the subject in a location out of public view and request backup, specifically for a superior officer. In these scenarios, individuals may not even be cuffed, since cuffing a subject often comes with a lot of potential red tape, especially if you are then ordered to release them afterwards. At that point, it would be the responsibility of the superior officer to decide the next step.

I would like to reiterate that I am no legal expert. Do not take anything I say as the concrete final word on the matter.

Is a hotdog a sandwich? Why or why not?

Ahhh, the age old argument, almost as old as ‘Who shot first, Han or Greedo?’, ‘Why did they not just use the giant birds to fly to the mountain in Lord of the Rings?’ and ‘What is the meaning of life?’. All equally important questions, I am sure we can all agree, but few trigger intense discussion as quickly as ‘Is a Hotdog a sandwich?’. Let’s dissect a couple of the most popular arguments.

“A hot dog is not a sandwich because the bun, typically, has a seam connecting the two buns.” If I cut the seam, does the hot dog then become a sandwich? What about hoagies, subs, or rolls? Flatbread sandwiches? By that logic, none of these are sandwiches either, and yet I have never heard anyone doubt that these are sandwiches, but why? Generally speaking, these are also connected as one big piece of dough. Following a similar line of though, the lack of a seam should also disqualify these from being sandwich, and yet it hasn’t. This argument against a hot dog being a sandwich is therefore flawed.
“Since no restaurants, food stands or other eateries call a hot dog a sandwich it is, therefore, not a sandwich.”

First, is this consistent across the board? Not at all. But beyond that, look back at the birth of this delicious food and see what it was first called when created. When the hot dog was first created in the late 1800’s it was called… a ‘Coney Island Sandwich’. Damning evidence.

I could go on with more evidence of the sandwichness of a hot dog, examples like the dictionary definition, the definition of the US Department of Agriculture, etc... but I think my point is clear. Without an iota of doubt a hot dog is most definitely a sandwich.

Unless you don’t want to call it that. Then, hey, more power to you, have fun.

Now indulge me for a moment while I answer a question you didn’t ask. It’s time for...

Arenado’s Aesop

A piece where I share a quick thought on my mind about anything under the sun.

One thing I have come to believe increasingly over time is that communication is paramount in all forms of relationships- be they professional, friendly or romantic. The ability to honestly communicate with another person is the bedrock of any relationship. I will be the first to admit that I am terrible at communication with other people, so I have lost friends through my own failures, and through the failures of others to communicate.

So for this edition Arenado’s Aesop is: be honest to each other. We can never predict how all the other pieces will fall into place, but we can choose to be more honest.

by Badivermeraed

Hey folks! Badivermeraed here, hosting a review of the Popeyes Chicken sandwich.

For context, Popeyes is a southern U.S. fried chicken chain, founded in 1972. It serves...well, chicken. It has over 3,100 locations, and can be found in nearly every American state, as well as other countries. Enough with context though, time to review the sandwich!

The Packaging
The sandwich comes in a standard large bag, with a smaller, foil lined sandwich bag containing the sandwich.

The Ingredients
The Popeyes Chicken sandwich is comprised of a brioche bun, with chicken, spicy Cajun sauce, and three pickles jammed in-between it all. The spicy Cajun sauce can also be switched out for Mayo, but I typically get the sauce, except for recently, when the Cajun sauce was sadly unavailable.

The Taste
The first bite? Perfect. All the other bites? Perfect. With savory chicken, mayo that doesn't taste like mayo, and pickles throwing in a bit of flavor every bite, this sandwich is the best thing you'll eat.

FINAL RATING: 10/10 would eat again

Signing off,
Bad

by Zentata

The war in Ozovia was a major international incident throughout Thalassia. Our reporter Zentata interviewed numerous stakeholders in the affair to try and glean an insight into the situation. We asked the leaders of some of the nations involved about the war to gleen better insight into the fast moving intricacies of the conflict.

Ausdonian Republic (Ausd): “We [The leaders of the Ausdonian Republic] believed that Ozovia's sovereignty was being threatened by Yaldian imperialism.”

Yaldian Empire (Yaldia): “I first got in the war to help the Ozovian coup bring stability to the country, which happened, but then the socialists dropped out and refused to return many of my spies and soldiers of different sorts. So I told them that they had to return them or else we would continue the war and only end when independence is brought to the conservatives. I didn't care if it was a small area or a large area, but it was clear the two sides can't live together.”

New United States of America (NUSA): “Yaldian involvement. Also wanting to prevent a communist state.”

Provisional Government (General Zarkov):"It was the men who created the Provisional Government, the revolutionaries in the Senaz and army, that overthrew the monarchy. They did what so many others in the past had failed; with one goal in mind: to give the people of Ozovia freedom. The Communists claim that we oppose democracy, yet we invited them into the Senaz. We were the ones who held democratic elections to determine the makeup of our legislature, while the "National Assembly” had nothing of the sort. We tried to create a Ozovia where people from all walks of life are represented, and when the Communists saw this, they declared us autocrats and withdrew from the Senaz. The men in the "National Assembly” look at democracy with disdain. They do not trust the average man to be independent and therefore seek to create a socialist society where the government makes decisions for them. They are men who overlook socialism's many failures, especially in places like Kasovia, deeming them to be mutations of socialism...not how it's meant to be. If the socialists were allowed to run Ozovia as they wished, they would lead it to ruin. We did not wish for our nation, our home, and our people to share the same fate as the other communist regimes. We did not wish to fall back into the tyranny that we fought so hard to expel. So when the socialists declared themselves the "true Ozovian government", we knew that we must destroy them; life under their rule would be worse than any cruelty the monarchy could inflict.”

National Assembly (Rosa Kazinska): “I, like so many other Ozovians, had fought against the monarchy for most of my life. My parents were revolutionaries in the now-defunct Republican Movement, sabotaging mining efforts and raiding Ozovian patrols in lower Khora. They, like so many other Republicans, were caught, tortured, and executed by the government during the “Winter Struggle” ...I was only 12. From that point on I lived with my grandmother and at 15, joined the Revolutionary Liberation Coalition. I had spent the next 14 years in the struggle, doing everything from handing out leaflets to guerilla warfare. Me and my friend at University would go to class during the day, listen to Pan Palinski’s lectures on economic theory, and then raid military convoys at night, studying for the following week's exam while awaiting their approach. That was until it all fell apart. Out of my 12 person group, I was the only one to remain. I was caught, tortured, and thrown into a jail cell for what was roughly 10 years… everyone else was shot. When Zharkov overthrew the Monarchy and granted a pardon to us grizzled revolutionaries, I was hopeful for the future for the first time in over 12 years. I began to make speeches, reunite with former comrades, and work closely with the Unions- eventually becoming a delegate in the Senaz for the Confederalists. However, I quickly realized that the democracy the Zharkovist Senaz claimed to have created, was a lie. The natives were not included as Ozovian citizens, getting a measly 10 delegates as opposed to the 35 they would have gotten as full Ozovian citizens. The leftists, although divided, together greatly outnumbered both the Robotniki and Populists; yet the nobilities nearly 40 delegates ensured that they had no hope of pushing through popular reforms. The very same men, the aristocracy that helped butcher my mother and father and grew rich from the monarchist oppression, were still the ones firmly in control of the Provisional Government. What person, who is not a sniveling coward, would accept such a thing? That is why we fight. That is why a new government, one better adjusted to the will of the masses, was declared in Ratai. The Provisional Government and their Yaldian backers care little for democracy, what they care for is their own economic and political interests; interests that run counter to the interests of the working masses.”

Ausd: “They have declared their independence and, for the time being, we choose to respect their declaration. As for the future, well I guess we'll have to wait and see what they do.”

Yaldia: “I mostly am trying to ignore the natives, as they didnt [sic] do anything to us and we want to be left alone, but I generally think in the end they need independence or autonomy of some sort, especially Khora, who was helping us.

NUSA: “No Opinion”

General Zarkov: “I think that grouping these two nations together is a grave oversight. Khora is a republic made up of Khoran's. They occupy a region that has a vast majority of the populace following the Khoran culture...the same can't be said for Malbati. The Malbati republic is only 60% Malbati, with significant Ozovian populations scattered across their territory. It is an area that is sparsely populated, heavily diversified, and barely developed. It is not a land that is fit to be its own sovereign territory. In the future, after we prevail against the last vestiges of tyranny in Ozovia, I feel that an independent Khora and an incorporated but autonomous Malbati will be the best outcome for all people.

Rosa Kazinska: “I believe in the right of self-determination for all people. If the people of Malbati or Khora wish to establish their own state, it is their right to do so. However, I do not think that either of these nations will truly be able to provide for their populace. Both are too small, too underdeveloped, to properly care for their constituents. It is for this reason that I think a federation, where the autonomy of all its members are respected, is the more reasonable path to go down. Only with a federation can the self-determination of Man be maintained, and their economic condition unharmed.”

Ausd: “I believe that they should have gotten Ozovia's permission to deploy peacekeepers, but we also believe that the purpose behind their actions were commendable and, in the future, they should receive the nation's permission first.”

Yaldia: “I think that peacekeeping was a good idea but wasn't done at the right time… we needed peacekeeping while peace talks were happening, not before. I think it got people killed for no reason, and in a way wasn't serving its role as a neutral power, because it was beneficial to my side during their presence.”

NUSA: “Yes. The UOTS only was taken out due to threats. Humanitarian Aid was proposed but it was not passed due to voting.”

General Zarkov: “I feel like the UTOS bowed to the whims of the National Assembly without reason. The peacekeepers would have been vital in the prevention of further deaths and the support of Ozovia's war-ragged people. By forcing out the peacekeepers, the National Assembly has doomed even more Ozovian men, women, and children to suffer and die in this struggle. I hope that in the future, the UTOS does not buckle to the intimidation of rogue states.”

Rosa Kazinska: “It is the belief of me and my fellow members in the National Assembly, that the UTOS is nothing more than the sword that the imperialists of this world use to crush those who oppose them. If they truly stood for stability, democracy, and consent, then they wouldn't have forced themselves into our country; they would have ordered the Yaldians to stop their attacks, they would not have allowed the gross dismissal of the laws of war go on. The only goal of the UTOS in Ozovia was to assist the Yaldians allies in the Provisional Government, and instate an undemocratic, rightwing puppet as the Ozovian government.”

Ausd: “As it is now, personally, I believe that Ozovia's National Assembly may pull through as the governing body of Ozovia because of the amount of pressure on Yaldia and the provisional government's reliance on Yaldian support.”

Yaldia: “I think not to accuse anybody, but there might be a slight bias for the socialists, or at least Ozovia kind of has it set in their mind for them to be stronger than the provisional government. But I doubt either side will gain absolute control and the country will be split in some way. And I am very very unlikely to back out unless the conservatives are given a free independent democracy, or seperated area.”

NUSA: “It will be won by both Provisional and National Assembly in a weird West-East Germany kind of deal.”

General Zarkov: “I feel that if we are not forsaken by our allies, the forces of freedom will prevail in Ozovia. It is clear that the National Assembly is desperate. Just a week ago, they began a massive mobilization of their northern fleet...what we believe is their attempt to make a landing in the north. They know that time is running out before their revolution loses its glamor, and the very masses that they claim to represent will turn on them. They are anxious to end the war quickly and that ultimately leads to their blunder. We expect the northern fleet to be crushed, which will spell an end for their rebellion.”

Rosa Kazinska: “I do not know what to think. Many would come up here and declare that the war is as good as won, but I am not one of those people. I have lived through too much tragedy, too much defeat, to ever be sure of anything again. War is an unpredictable beast, and we cannot defeat ourselves by ever becoming too sure of our position.”

Ausd: “We believe that our nation has acted according to our beliefs and traditions and sometimes that's the best you can hope for.”

Yaldia: “I think there have been a few hasty decisions, and invading ratai [sic] but overall we are managing it well.”

NUSA: “Yes.”

General Zarkov: “I believe that the men and women of the Provisional Army are some of the most dedicated and fierce warriors of any nation. Although we have had setbacks, they have held on for months against an enemy far greater in number and strength. Through the will of our men and the strong leadership of our generals, we will win this war, and bring Ozovia into a new age of freedom and prosperity.”

Rosa Kazinska: “I believe that Ozovians are some of the hardiest people in the world. We have survived and prevailed through centuries of tyrannical rule. We have conquered our harsh landscape and repelled invaders of all kinds. This is an ancient, bloodied land, one whose people will no longer bow to tyrants like those in the Senaz and Yaldia. You can count that no matter the circumstance, the Ozovian people will live on, defiant and resistant against those who would see them subjugated; be that a foreign power, or our own.”

Ausd: “We believe that the bombing of civilians is a terrible act that no nation should ever commit, I can understand the strategy behind the bombings but I still can't, with a full heart, condone their actions.”

Yaldia: Yaldian officials refused to supply a comment to the Wave.

NUSA: “A War crime [sic].”

General Zarkov: "I believe the Yaldians to be one of Ozovia's greatest allies. They are true supporters of our just cause, and seek to help us defeat the forces of the National Assembly. Like in any conflict, all sides will inflict civilian casualties; the Yaldians no different. As awful it is to see such destruction, it is an unavoidable aspect of war.”

Rosa Kazinska: “The Territories of Yaldia are an empire, no doubt about it. They are a hostile, imperialist force, no better than the colonial regimes of old. They preach of bringing freedom and democracy, yet disregard the will of the masses. They hide their true ambitions of global hegemony under the guise of humanitarianism and liberation. Their lack of care for the wellbeing of the peoples that they “liberate” is no better seen than with their actions in Ozovia. They have blown up hospitals, schools, homes, and cultural monuments. They put the lives of a handful of their own invading soldiers, over the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocents. If you saw what the Yaldians had done to Ratai, if you saw the destruction, the fire, and hopelessness in the eyes of those whose families were torn apart; you would realize that Yaldia is no friend to the Ozovian people.”

Ausd: “Rebuilding after this civil war will inevitably be difficult, but we hope that we can aid with the reconstruction as much as possible. As to actually rebuilding we believe that they should focus on homes and businesses that were destroyed, giving their people a chance to resume their lives.”

Yaldia: “I think once the country is split I will fund major rebuilding, and that rebuilding is extremely important. [sic]”

NUSA: “Support by other nations.”

General Zarkov: “It is clear that rebuilding Ozovia will be no easy task. The communists can be counted on to try to subvert any action taken by the Senaz, they will have to be dealt with one way or another if we are to rebuild the country. As for a plan, we will need all the people of Ozovia to join as one, forget our differences, and build a new, better Ozovia.”

Rosa Kazinska: “I think that first of all, the National Assembly will have to forget its partisan attitudes. The political leadership cannot fight and bicker while the masses starve. We will need to work as one and address the emergency issues of the nation before anything else. We will need the process of rebuilding Ozovia to be a united front, focusing first on emergency relief of the struggling citizenry, followed by the comprehensive revitalization of agricultural, infrastructural, industrial, and commercial centers led and overseen by the state apparatus. Only after the nation is stabilized can the political process be begun and the transfer of both economic and political power to Ozovia’s masses begin.”

The responses show how war is, at times, a multi-faceted issue. As well as the increasing interventionalism and complexity of the international scene in Thalassia.

Prime Ministerial Election

March is upon us and the new Prime Minister has already been elected and taken office, but in January in one on the most heated elections yet, four candidates joined the race and one came out. The candidate list included both some faces already known to Thalassia, and previously Pacifica, like Toerana and Wiskawga, but it also brought some new faces like Arenado and Ashurg.

The official tally of the Prime Minister election was as follows:

Candidate

Arenado

53.7%

Ashurg

Toerana iii

8

19.5%

Wiskawga

Total:

Arenado came with previous civil service experience in Wintreath, but none in Thalassia, and was endorsed by the former founder of our region, Cormactopia prime, as well as former President Rockiberg, and former Prime Minister Badivermeraed. He focused his campaign around 3 R’s: Renew, Revitalize, and Reform. His goals- Renew roleplay by working closely with the Ministry of Culture to foster and expand the Thalassian RP, Revitalize recruitment by creating a Ministry of Recruitment, and finally Reform the Thalassian administrative structure with the creation of the Ministry of Administrative Affairs (which shares its name with a similar department from a Linkfamous British political sitcom) to oversee and implement the changes needed in order to open the government more and increase transparency.

Former Minister of Security and running mate for Wymondham’s failed campaign for the Presidency, Wiskawga, promised the organization of regional and interregional events. He also discussed the creation of a new independent judiciary to interpret laws and try citizens, however, this idea was later publicly rescinded in an interview with NationStates Today. Additionally, Wiskawga proposed an RP summary to help players keep up with the fast paced and increasingly intricate world of the Thalassia RP.

Toerana iii, the former Minister of Culture, promised to invest all ministries but made his intent to focus primarily on the Ministry of Security clear. He promised to offer cards based rewards for “all aspects of Thalassian life”, and voiced his support in maintaining proscriptions and working with his Minister of Security to keep Thalassia safe. He pledged to ensure the Information ministry worked closely with NSToday to keep Thalassia informed of goings on and to publish information releases to the public through FA.

Ashurg, a brand new player, seemingly disappeared- he did not present a campaign dispatch and received no votes in the election.

Coverage of the election as it happened was provided by NSToday with each candidate, save Ashurg, being interviewed. Polling, which occurred before voting officially opened, placed Arenado as outright winner with 54.5% of the vote. Followed by Wiskawga with 27.3% and Toerana iii with 18.2% of those that responded to the poll. Congruent with the final result, Ashurg received no votes in the poll.

Presidential Election

In an unexpected turn of events, President Rockiberg stepped down from his role two months before the end of his tenure. After his resignation, Vice President Czech germania was made Acting President and elections for the office of President were announced.

Two candidates stepped forward, offering themselves to serve our region as the Head of State. Neither candidate was a stranger to Thalassia- on one side we had Cormactopia prime- our former founder and the former President of Pacifica- and on the other side we had Ayeinc- who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in both Thalassia and Pacifica.

Both candidates mentioned their plans to cooperate with the cabinet and individual ministries, but would not command them, as they both recognize that is part of the Prime Minister’s jurisdiction and not the President’s. Cormac also mentions his intent on keeping good relations with the Founder, stating that it is essential for the founder and the president to have good relations in order for the region to operate smoothly.

When asked if the Thalassia government should focus on its internal problems rather than trying to connect with other regions, both candidates stated the importance of keeping a balance between focusing on ourselves and handle foreign affairs and that both are vital to Thalassia. Cormactopia prime also stated, however, that the President should not be interfering with affairs from the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, citing the importance of maintaining the separation of powers. Cormac then went on to mention that the constitution does not require radical change as it stands and that most of the government is working quite well, but some ambiguities and overlapping responsibilities could eliminated from the constitution as they do not make sense anymore, as the constitution was based on Pacifica’s previous Charter, which was designed for having an inactive founder and that is not the case in Thalassia.

Ayeinc, taking a different approach to the presidency, presented his thoughts on what he thinks is important to do for each ministry and proposes the idea of hosting an event called “Grand Thalassian Fair” (inspired by Sho’s proposal for the “Thalassian Tides Faire”) to showcase the best of Thalassia. He states the importance of maintaining good RP activity, being prepared to defend the region from incoming threats and also the importance of keeping a news source for all of Thalassia’s residents.

As one of the main constitutiontional responsibilities of the President is representing the region in the World Assembly (WA), the candidates were asked their opinions on joining WA voting alliances, Ayeinc stated that the existing ones are not sufficient for Thalassia, that one could be started but that the time is not right. Alternatively, Cormactopia prime stated he would like to see Thalassia join the World Assembly Legislative League (WALL), comprised of independent and democratic regions that share many of our values- but that ultimately, that would be something to discuss with the rest of government when the time was right.

Finally, on the matter of whether the candidates would be interpreting the constitution themselves or appoint a body specifically for doing so both candidates state, both candidates said they would be handling that themselves, though this ultimately this ended in disagreement, with Ayeinc stating that he would be open to the previous proposal and seek assistance if necessary. Cormactopia prime, who authored the Constitution, stated that while appointing a body would not be constitutional, he would consult with the executive government and the founder but would never support the establishment of a court.

The official tally of the Presidential elections was as follows:

Candidate

# of votes

Percentage

Cormactopia prime

34

77.3%

Ayeinc

22.7%

Total:

In the end, Cormac won the election by a clear majority.

After the election, Liruslau was nominated for and appointed as Vice President after receiving a unanimous vote in his favor at referendum.

Thalassian Thoughts: WAD Candidates

by Owl Archipelago and Sho

Election season is upon us again in Thalassia! Due to some recent constitutional changes which resulted in the abolishment of the Presidency, citizens have lined up to fill this new World Assembly-centric role. In this special bulletin edition of The Wave, Owl and Sho sit down with the region’s WA Delegate candidates and ask questions submitted to us by readers.

Those who submitted were given the option to ask anonymously or to be credited. Opinions in this article are solely the candidates and are not representative of The Wave or Thalassia. Similar questions were grouped. Due to the varied response lengths, their answers have been spoilered for your reading convenience.

I started out in The Interdimensional Community, a role-playing region, but it wasn’t my type. So I moved to Pacifica and a couple weeks later, I applied to be an Ambassador. Veaetmar assigned me to the region of India. I was promoted to Senior Ambassador and then Deputy Minister. After V’s resignation, I became Minister and was so under Prime Ministers Shoalia and Badivermeraed. I left MoFA after the January Election and have been active in the region since. I joined the Thalassian Assembly of Nations and have been drafting a charter. I also ran for President in February. I also served as ambassador to St Abbaddon and The Glorious Nations of Iwaku.

On my first day of joining NationStates, I very briefly joined 10000 Islands among other regions I can't recall, before settling on Thalassia. I have been serving as an ambassador to The Communist Bloc for almost a month, and have been active in the World Assembly since my first week in the game.

I joined NS in December 2016, did some noob stuff in 2017 and maybe late 2018, but I got truly involved in March 2019. I spawned in TNP [The North Pacific], immediately joined their offsite and became a citizen, and was quickly introduced to cards. Cards became my branching off point into my WA work, and what made me join TRR [The Rejected Realms]. In TRR, I've been the Outreach officer, the Media officer, and have helped in creating their WA programs. My WA work started by tackling the rules violations from writing a resolution about cards, and I had to defend the idea against convention-loving skeptics. The result was Condemn Koem Kab. I started loving the SC, and fairly-quickly passed 3 more resolutions. The most recent one, Commend Kindjal, mirrored Condemn Koem Kab, as it was the first resolution to primarily focus on the merits of quiet, consummate, and clever issue answering over years of work. Currently, I'm an active SC player, and have recently been tasked by Sedgistan to write the new guide to the SC. I was invited to join Thalassia after concernedly informing of a blacklisted player disguised under a different name in Thalassia's discord (nothing worrisome though). I was MoS in Bad's absence, where I helped in developing documentation and other ventures.

I started off in Pacifica, and upon the formation of the republic, Cormac [Cormactopia prime] offered me a job. He'd noticed that I was active on the RMB and offered me to be his Foreign Secretary. To sum that up, I went into the places where Cormac was banned, so a number of larger regions, to found relations, consulates and embassies. I resigned and left following some drama that lives best buried in the past.

I moved to Voltarium, Vamp's [Vamperiall] region, and did a bit of roleplay. I climbed government fairly quickly and started a few programs, my golden child being V-WASP, the WA development program.

As an active cards player, I was interested cards a lot, and really wanted to get my hands on Frattastan II, a CTE'd nation for my GCR collection so Wop said I could ask guy if I could buy his card, that's where I joined TRR [The Rejected Realms]. I, admittedly, joined for image posting perms in their discord, but I am very glad I decided to join.

Throughout this I was in and out of Pacifica, but properly came back shortly after the DRUS [Democratic Republic Of Unified States] delegacy drama, where he'd bargained with Cormac to keep myself unbanned, in return for the region. I reemerged and applied for government positions, just Ambassador to start, before I applied for Culture when DRUS resigned. I was accepted and served as Minister of Culture through the rest of Pacifica, where I resigned in Thalassia following Lazarus. I missed out on SP [The South Pacific] and the one I have forgotten Warzone Airspace. But I haven’t done much in either, outside of yell at Warzoners.

Alright, this shouldn't take too long. I joined NS in November, and as soon as I got the tg from Thalassia I was hooked. I started getting involved in the region by doing RP, and have since become involved in culture, where I'm the deputy minister, foreign affairs, where I'm the ambassador to TLA [The Leftist Assembly], and have written articles for information. Due to my relativly short time on NS, I haven't gotten involved in other regions that much, and so I don't have negative political baggage, only good relations with TLA.

Well I moved to Thalassia’s predecessor, Pacifica. I think it was a stroke of luck. I pulled up the World Census, clicked the “Democratic” filter, and started to look. I skipped over the feeders, sinkers, big regions, and that landed me on the third page where I found Pacifica. I like Thalassia because the nations that make up our regions have something powerful in common: Their love of NationStates and their love of their region. Its unknown force. There are many other things, but that was one way to summarize it!

I joined Thalassia from a recruitment telegram that snuck into my telegrams before I turned off my recruitment. I love that Thalassia is laid back, and allows all political freedom possible. Many other regions said in their factbook entries and recruitment telegrams things like "Anti-security council" and other controversial things, immediately creating an environment against people who don't agree with them. Thalassia is not like that.

I joined Thalassia after being invited by Bad [Badivermeraed] who saw my concern for the community (as above). I love the laid-back environment, and that more great UCRs are popping up in this GCR-dominated world. Thalassia had to overcome a lot, and I respect that.

I joined Thalassia through the move, and I joined Pacifica from a recruitment telegram. I love its community and its values.

I got the recruitment TG and I decided to join, considering it was everything I was looking for in a region, democratic, medium size, active, welcoming, roleplaying, and perfect. It's just the best region I've found in the game. I especially love how the community is so welcoming and how it perseveres through anything.

I think it is best if we added a requirement to be a WA citizen: You have to be endorsing the delegate. Endorsing the delegate, in my opinion, is a no-brainer. It’s three clicks to endorse the delegate, yet people still don’t do it. It’s not much of a roadblock to vote in our elections and referendums.

I do not have any programs up for proposal, however I do want to continue Cormac’s [Cormactopia prime] Policy of keeping the limit below the delegate’s. I could possibly institute limits for citizens, ministers, the Vice-Delegate, and the Delegate. I would keep a buffer between the Vice-Delegate and me to make sure his/her position is “Vice-Delegate”.

I intend to give more power within the region to people who are in the WA (however this is not in my direct power, I will have to petition to change the constitution), and create a dispatch explaining the role the WA plays in this region, whether the amendment passes or not. I believe that with time endorsements will come naturally as long as the nation grows, and we can regularly tell newcomers how to join the WA and to endorse the delegate.

So, Thalassia's currently sitting in a very comfortable position in WA endorsements and influence. In importing players who just care about rewards and endorsements, we cannot compete with the massive infrastructure and PR lead TNP [The North Pacific] has on us. We can, however, encourage current WA nations to tart by publicizing a script (I already have an endotarting script I coded) to make gaining endorsements easier, and by offering rewards (I'd have to contact WA members to ask if they'd be interested in cards, of which I have plenty). Additionally, my pre-tested and designed voting awards program should encourage members to be in the WA; as well as having WA members be able to vote on WA decisions. To maximize our presence in the World Assembly votes, we can always start stacking and stomping (I'm in a great time zone to vote immediately and always vote early), which should help massively. What we also really need to do is start finding people interested in the WA in our region, and encourage them to become authors, something I already do for people I see who are interested in the SC. To increase our presence, we need experienced WA players to help Thalassians understand the World Assembly and start writing proposals that promote our ideals (e.g. democracy). There's the possibility that we make a smaller bloc, but that is a long-time goal, and the regions would have to fit values similar to ours. It would be WALL-style rather than URA-style, because the URA, having encouraged the collecting of small UCRs rather than virtually-any big delegacies, disproportionately helps small delegates who rarely vote (many not really having much of an understanding of the WA). There are some regions I can think of who would fit into the bloc (similar sized to Thalassia and similar values).

My plan is the standard Nations Not Endorsing dispatches paired with a program offering rewards of some sorts, may they be cards based, although I know that the community is not that receptive to them or may they be based on badges and awards. This would be a mixture of for the delegate/VD and general endotarting. As for membership itself, I believe Thalassia has many incentives for that already.

I'm going to start an endo swapping program called thalassiendos, where in game rewards will be given to those that endorse others, and endorse back the most. In terms of endorsing the WAD, I think that endos do seem to accumulate on their own as long as endorsing the WAD and the VD is emphasized in the welcome tg and the wfe. If a wa member hasn't endorsed me, then I can, and will endorse them, and if they still don't, then I'll shoot them a tg. In terms of encouraging WA membership, I feel as though enough of our citizens join the WA, and just letting people do what they want apropos joining the WA. Their nation their choice whether to join or not. I am considering a lower endo limit for those who don't endorse me within 10 days however.

I have knowledge in both domestic and foreign affairs, knowledge that was acquired while I was Minister of Foreign Affairs. I am an active member in the community, in role-playing and regional politics. I have been involved in multiple political campaigns and governmental legislation. I was here before Thalassia and I will be here for years to come.

Although I have not been in NS for very long, I can use that to the advantage of everyone, and will always be open to debate to sway my vote in the WA, and see the side of everyone's decisions. Outside the game, I have always been good at debating, and also love being in groups and participating, and making things better than they were before.

I’m objectively the most experienced candidate for the job, as I’m the only one who’s an author (4x as of now), and seemingly the only one active in the international WA community. That’s not against the other candidates— I’m sure they’d all do a great job. I just know the WA. It’s the part of the game I primarily play in. I’m also experienced in outreach (see above) and endotarting.

My past experience in Voltarium
As well as my experience with Outreach in TRR [The Rejected Realms]
I did a bit, albeit limited amount, in the region.

Right to the point I see! I'll give you a list:

-I'm passionate, and want to do what's best for Thalassia, not any other regions.
-I've had experience in three ministries, and am the deputy MoC, so I know how government works.
-I'm a member of Thalassia who has never broken the law
-I know my limits.

I think it would be to condemn The levellers. They have caused plenty of trouble in this community. So much in fact, that they deserve a condemnation. As delegate, Thalassia comes first. Any attack on our region will be replied with stern retaliation. If they make any more attacks on us, I guarantee a condemnation.

If I could right this second submit a resolution to the Security Council, it would be to Commend Thalassia. I am not joking, this could be a good thing to do. We could be commended, or at least get some attention so that people may want to reconsider the region they are in. Thalassia truly is a great place.

Hmmmm that’s tough (I have a long list of projects). I’ve been tossing around the idea of commending Ulthar, a region which had some very fun and eccentric roleplay that would create an equally entertaining and unique resolution. Their forums were the platform that New south hell did his issue analysis, which was so remarkable that he became an “Issues Tech” so he would (paraphrasing) “stop revealing their secrets”. I hear he also discovered update order. The name won’t mean much to most as just a concept, but I think it would be a great resolution.

I don't know enough about NS History and/or players to answer that but if I absolutely had to: Condemn Kyorgia for being a big mean raider :>

Considering what's currently in the WA, I'll just say this:

*Commend This Game*
Because this game has as fewer bad things in it then good ones and we should recognize that as well as the raiders and flamers

It's basically the Presidency cut down to its bare minimum: Delegate Status. The President was the Head of State, but now that's the Founder. The WAD does not have a permanent seat in the Cabinet as the Prime Minister can decide if he/she wants to have the delegate in the Cabinet. The only powers the delegate has is to vote in the World Assembly and appoint a Vice-Delegate.

The WA Delegate is our representative for everything WA. Everything from debating proposals, writing proposals, etc. to large scale endorsement programs. The WA Delegate can also give advice to the Prime Minister and their cabinet, and participate in meetings if the PM allows it. It is different from presidency due to the recent amendment to the constitution, which now removes executive powers from the delegate as well as their power to administer referendums.

The presidency had a lot of powers which I thought were weird to be investing in a WA delegate, just to summarize. I prefer to have a UCR delegate purely invested in the WA and gaining endorsements and such, because all other duties can go to an RO or the founder. The delegate is the role designed for the WA, so that might as well be the priority.

The Presidency was the head of state for Thalassia, they were, from my point of view, a security position and there to uphold the constitution. That is now the founder's job. I believe the WA delegate is what it says, a position to represent Thalassia in the WA, and promote its activity gameside. Including promoting the delegate’s endorsement count as a fail safe just in case you [Sho] go and get DEAT'd or something :P

The role of the WA delegacy is that of doing the job of a WA delegate, and only a WA delegate. That means voting for WA resolutions on behalf of the region, controlling endorsement limits and anything related to endorsements, and just WA affairs in general. They are the face of the region in the WA, and are responsible for WA alliances, with the approval of the MoFA, I assume. They can advise the cabinet on matters relating to the WA, but they are not required to. The WAD is not a member of the security council, and is not directly responsible for regional security, unlike the presidency, although controlling WA endorsements and affairs is closely linked with that role. In short, the presidency controlled executive powers, and was the head of state. The WAD is not.

With respect, first off. Second off, I know both Sho and Arenado, and how hard they work for Thalassia. Sho and I have worked together in government since we were in Pacifica. Arenado, is very kind and is doing his best as Prime Minister. I understand what it means to be in regional government, and to work with officials in the Cabinet. I have the experience and I'm ready to go back for Thalassia.

I will try to keep to myself as much as possible when it comes to the Founder, unless I believe there is change that needs to be made. Of course, I will have my say in any more important matters. With the Prime Minister, however, I will try to interact with the cabinet however often I can.

Collaboratively. I would work with the founder in making sure no one gets too close to my endorsements, in using the discord to help in WA discussions (WA channel). I would work with the PM in matters such as WA-related events and WA outreach.

To the Prime Minister, effectively as a member of their cabinet, but more like the President. If that makes sense. As in, I'd be very willing to cooperate with the departments to say, promote programs in the Wave, or working with culture to build x into y. Like a Minister, but not tied to the PM, only with their blessing.

As for the founder, the same way I would approach the President. I'd go directly to them on matters of security or community safety, as I would anyway. This would likely mean bypassing the security department, but if the PM is not comfortable with me being present there then it's the safest person to contact. As well as, per their role, clarifying their interpretation to the Constitution if I feel like I may be drifting to far away from my position.

With kindness and respect.

I would vote with the majority unless the opposing side provides a strong argument. In some cases, I will abstain as not to upset both sides. In rare cases, I would plan a debate on my proposed WA channel on the regional discord. This channel would enable us to have discussion and civil discourse about the World Assembly. Hopefully, this will encourage more involvement in the World Assembly.

I will always vote for resolutions that benefit Thalassia and vote against any resolution that harms it. At the end of the day, I am the Thalassian delegate, a representative for the citizens of Thalassia.

Most times, I will let the people take the wheel on how I vote, unless there is a close vote or one in which a strong opinion of mine is in the minority, and in either case I will vote the way I wish, and also have a debate to keep people active in the WA.
In the case the resolution would benefit the world as a whole, but not cause harm to Thalassians, I would vote so it passes. I will never even consider considering voting for a proposal that harmed Thalassia in even an infinitely small way.

If I disagree with the region vote, the region vote comes first, and I'll vote as it wants. For my own personal votes in the polls, I'm more interested in what the region wants, because if each region votes based on what it wants, the final vote is representative of the world's perspective.

Depends on what "Thalassian nations" means. I know that just going by the percentage in the region vote for or against that you get on the in-game voting page is a bad idea, because it means you have to vote late and your vote will almost always just be going on with the lemming effect. That's why I would have a discord poll starting before the proposal reaches vote (e.g. while nearing quorum), but continuing into the vote ofc. I wouldn't break that vote.

I can't think of an example of a resolution which would help the world but hurt Thalassians, but I would vote on behalf of Thalassia.

I would only differ from the majority vote of Thalassians if the Prime Minister asks due to a Security Council Resolution that impacts Thalassia.

I may disagree with the region, but that's not my job. My job is to vote for Thalassians, following their opinion.

I will break with my region if I hold a strong belief that the resolution should, or should not pass. I will share my reasoning with the region, as I will with all resolutions. However, if the voting is near unanimously against what I think would be best, I will encourage discussion about why, and potentially withhold my vote.

I will represent Thalassia on the world stage. Therefore, in GA resolutions, I will vote for what I believe will benefit Thalassia, but also by extension the rest of the world. Thalassians know my beliefs, so they know how I will vote. Will the resolution make Thalassia better? I will vote based off of that. Think of it like this. You're the president of a country, and you have promised to make the country a better place, and you represent the people. However, you have a choice. You can either blow up your country while knowing that the rest of the world will be freed from poverty, or you can keep things as they are. You made a promise, a oath, and will you keep it? I will.

Bormiar is well accomplished in The Rejected Realms and I really love his work over there. Toerana is also involved in TRR, who also does amazing things for them and Thalassia. Banq is new, and is running for the newly-createdposition of WA Delegate. Lastly, Zentata is heavily involved in the Culture ministry and roleplaying. He really is a joy to work with. One thing that we all agreed to a joint statement to encourage nations to come out and vote!

I believe that Ayeinc's idea of a legislative league, especially starting one, is a great idea, and hope that it can happen no matter who wins. Toerana has the idea of an in-depth rewards program for WA members. Though I do not intend to do it like this, it is a good idea. I like Zentata's experience and a similar wish to create a more active WA community. Bormiar appears to be an excellent security council resolution author. It is truly an honor to be competing against them.

Heh. I admire that Zentata and Banq seem to be interested in getting more involved in NS. I admire that Toerana doesn't really procrastinate if he's asked to do something and is active gameside. I admire that Ayeinc has initiative. I like all the candidates for being calm and nice in this election.

I admire Borm's [Bormiar] dedication to the WA. He's a Cosmo because of his WA work. The only person who comes close to him in that area is Cormac [Cormactopia prime].
I admire Ayeinc's resilience, he has ran in numerous elections, even against opponents who, lets say, could be nicer in their approach.
I admire Zentata's character, he is a fab guy and a credit to the community.
I admire Banq's goals. He's a fairly new member of the community but he is already striving for the top. I admire his goals and his apparent dedication to them.

This is the best question yet:

Banq: They're optimistic, while being realistic.
Toerana: He's a good article writer.
Ayeinc: He perseveres, and is a kind person.
Bormiar: He has written quite a few SC resolutions.

Zentata. We would draft the charter and organs for the Thalassian Assembly of Nations. Also, I think we would be good friends in real life.

If I was to be deserted on an island with one other nation, it would be Zentata. They have a good sense of humor, it seems.

hmmm... probably McMasterdonia. Apparently he's jacked irl and he'd probably know how to get us off the island.

Whichever one can get me off the island the fastest.

Special thanks to Badivermeraed,Laconshire, and all Anonymous askers for submitting questions. And thanks to Ayeinc, Banq, Bormiar, Toerana, and Zentata for agreeing to take part in this. We at The Wave wish you luck!
