OEU Minutes Issue #9, Who is Princess Elenor Cossette?

In this issue of OEU Minutes we sit down with the Princess of Joshuastania, Elenor Cossette for her first ever interview. We will be asking her about everything from her family and private life to her quick rise to power and what she hopes the future holds for Joshuastania. Before we begin, here is a little background information about her. Princess of Asturias, Elenor Alexandra Cossette was born in 1999 in Oviedo, in the Asturias region of Spain. She is the child of the French born King D'ellise and the Cuban born Queen Alexandra. She has one sibling, a sister named Rosa Cossette.

• Question 1. I am very curious as are most Joshuastanians about why have you chosen to keep the title of Princess and why you choose the name Cossette and not D'ellise. Could you please explain this?

"I would be happy to answer this question. I have always been a humble and simple person and I have always despised the titles that come with royalty. I decided that in order to keep my humble image I should be addressed as Princess and not as Queen.

As for why I chose the name Cossette you see my mother died when I was very young under mysterious circumstances still being investigated. My late father King D'ellise blamed me for her death and our relationship was very bad after that. I wouldn't say he was abusive but I grew distant from him after our many heated and sometimes physical arguments. My sister Rosa was born shortly before our mothers death and my father couldn't bother even looking at her and sent her to live in Cuba. I choose the name Cossette because I love literature and I felt like my circumstances were similar to Cossette from Les Miserable."

• Question 2. Can you share your thoughts about the night of your father's execution and the Joshuastanian Civil War?

"That night was a total and complete shock to myself and most Joshuastanians. I believe that it was a sudden and complete surprise to most Europeans as well. We were once considered the poster child of world peace and even hosted the United Nations. I really have to blame the King for his lack of leadership and his inability to appease the more nationalistic elements of the government. To make matters even worse Serbia and the BP got involved. After the Civil War ended in a stalemate there were two Joshuastania's for a time until I thought that we could reunify our two nations. Everything was fine until Juan Sanchez decided to leave the BP which incurred the wrath of S&M. Now as a result I not only lost France, but Spain and Portugal as well. Now the Joshuastanian people don't even have a homeland and I will always blame myself."

• Question 3. Your sister Rosa has rarely been seen or even heard of because King D'ellise never commented on her existence officially. Could you tell us about her and about the rumors of her disability?

"Absolutely, my sister Rosa Cossette is now 16 years old and she really wants to get involved in the Government and the day to day routine of being in the Royal Family. She is somehow very sweet and kind even after the way the King hid her existence from the world. As for the rumors of her disability I won't deny that she has a very mild case of Kidney Dysplasia. She has lived with the condition and luckily has had very few issues and we monitor her health closely. It is true that we are a small Royal Family with our issues but it works fine for us."

• Question 4. Let us move on to the future of Joshuastania. What do you think the future holds for the so-called "New Spain"?

"You are the second person to refer to Joshuastania as "New Spain" today. I actually really like our nation being called "New Spain" especially considering that the Spanish Colonies in the Americas were once named as such. I hope that Joshuastania may return to neutrality in the future but with the tension between Serbia and the world at its peak we cannot leave NATO for the foreseeable future. This is simply for our own protection however NATO has yet to actually make a stand against Serbia and the BP. If the situation gets worse and another European power falls Joshuastania may consider leaving NATO. There is talk that Joshuastania may even re-create the ANN Alliance. Only time will tell if we decide to choose that path."

Question 5. What would you like to share about the recent assassination attempt against you and where did the ultranationalist party even come from?

"I just couldn't believe that the leader of a newly created political party would be so braizen as to pull out a gun on the floor of the National Assembly. Then he shot me and the communist party just accepted it. I was knocked out before I even hit the floor. I guess that I struck my head right on the spot where I had my concussion from that helicopter crash during the Civil War. When I woke up I was on an Aircraft Carrier headed towards Cuba after Spain and Portugal had fallen.

Personally I believe that the Ultranationalist Party was created specifically to kill me and wasn't at all a genuine political party. The Communist Party on the other hand was created as a concession to Juan Sanchez and I guess that I had falsely believed that they supported him after he was killed by Subotic. I would even go as far as to say that Subotic had planned the whole assassination attempt."

• Question 6. Is there anything else you want us to know?

"That is all for now, thank you. If you can excuse me I have to go and prepare a speech."
