The Londinium Herald: News Briefing #3

Hot off the press
Good afternoon Londonians,

Lady Cari must be due an official coronation ceremony by now, right? Just an idea considering that they have now officially assumed control following Grand Duke Fortwhile’s abdication as High King.

This comes following repeated cases of foundership uncertainty, throughout which LC found themselves taking the reins — their vast NS experience facilitating gentle and unchaotic transition. Maybe a celebration could be organised; I trust we can leave this in the hands of our members to put together something. Hint hint.

Of course, if you missed this major piece of news, I should direct you to the forums immediately:

Here’s to a bright future and prosperous reign!

Regional News

Curia:
Members should pay attention to the opening of the campaigning period for Consulship elections (bearing in mind only Senators may stand as candidates). So far we are yet to see someone to put themselves forwards, though several are known to have speculated running.

The Mentor Programme, after a long time sitting on the shelf, is now under vote, which is to be concluded shortly. Sukberia’s Draft Eboracum Establishment Act has been pulled, perhaps only temporarily.

The most recent legislative development was the introduction of a bill by The United Barbaros to change the process of Bishop of London elections, moving toward a party-based system.

Monarchy:
The region’s founder, our first and longest serving sovereign, Fortwhile has taken the memorable decision to abdicate the throne in favour of his heir (Lady Cari). He has served Londinium venerably, but admitted that in recent months was unable to commit as much time as he would have liked. He offered to step down last month but had been encouraged to stay on, although the mood seems to have shifted since then.

The reception of this news was somewhat solemn, yet hopeful also. The profoundly positive mark Fortwhile has left on our community will be visible always and I for one am glad to know he will keep a watchful eye on us under the newly created style of Grand Duke.

Roleplay News
Stat Card submission is still open. German Empire would like to encourage your participation.

Fact of the Day
Shortly before his assassination, Abraham Lincoln's son, Robert, fell between a moving train and the platform. He was pulled to safety by an actor named Edwin Booth. Edwin was the brother of John Wilkes Booth who later assassinated Lincoln.
