“The point is, being a Christian does not mean hating or belittling the non-Christians. Being a Muslim does not mean hating or belittling the non-Muslims. Being an Atheist does not mean hating or belittling the religious people. In a civilized society, diversity in religious orientation should be the reason for celebration, not the cause for hatred and differentiation.”
- Mohammad Almasi, 22 August 2058

Mohammad Almasi is a Persian statesman, the President of the People's Republic of Persia, and the Regional Secretary of the Persian Socialist Party. He was also a major military commander in the overthrow of the theocratic government from 1979 to 2042. He is an advocate of non-interventionism, economic and political reform, and crackdowns upon corruption.

Policies

  • Religion Policy
Almasi considers himself to be "tough on crime" or in pure opposition to religious extremism, while still supporting a person's right to free and private religious expression. However, he is often criticized by his neighbor, Arabia, and their President, Naadiya el-Hares, for not "working harder" on attacking religious extremism and preventing a rise in religious conservatism.

  • Persian Socialism
A political philosophy and economic strategy for development based on Persian characteristics of governmental and collective institutions.

  • Economic Reform
Almasi in recent years has pushed for more intense focus on economic reforms which have led to the privatization and decentralization of key state sectors of the economy with a much deeper focus on entrepreneurship and business enterprises.

Criticisms

Opposition groups in the past have accused Almasi of being "too soft on religious extremism". Among these critics, the People's Republic of Arabia remains at the forefront as they constantly push for him to pass "tough on crime" laws that would disproportionately hurt religious minorities with over-extensive background searches and, to what Almasi says, "will foster a new rise in religious terrorism".

On 22 August 2057, the World Zionist Organization accused Almasi of antisemitism after he reportedly denied the State of Israel's existence. As evidence they cite Almasi's history of denying events such as the Holocaust from 2008-2014 and his consistent denial of Israel's existence since 2043. However it is unclear whether or not Almasi still believes in these points.

On 14 May 2060, a group of men's rights activists called "Men Against Growing Animosity" criticized Almasi after he pointed out the problem of toxic masculinity within Persian society, and in turn stated that society should take steps to root out this problem.
