Totalist Republic of Rockies (Also called as New Deseret Republic) is an averagely developed territory, and one of the America's megastates, and is located in the Southwest. It consists from territories of Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. One of the most conservative, and poorest Megastates. Major rivers are Rio Grande, and Colorado river, but major body of water - the Great Salt Lake. It is landlocked, and borders Pacifica on the West, Trinity to the north, Lone Star to the East, and Midwest to the Northeast. It also borders Chihuahua to the South, and has a small border with Greater Baja at the southwest. Large portions of its lands are either mountainous, or a desert, with only a few plains, mostly in the east. In result, it has problems to supply itself with food. Some parts of its land are Native autonomies, particularly Navajo lands.
It is also a popular nuclear testing and storage site, as parts of it are really sparsely populated, and most of its population is concentrated in large cities. Its economy is based on resources like oil, uranium, coal, and gold, which it extracts from the ground. Silver mining also is popular, although the amount of silver ore in natural deposits has decreased. One of the natural monuments is the Great Canyon, which is also sometimes used in the drills of the soldiers of Rockies. In fact, some of the best Commonwealth's swords and knifes are produced in Rockies. However, the quality of rifles is pretty bad.
Name of the Rockies comes from the Rocky mountains, which are located within the territory. Name of the mountains themselves comes from a translated Amerindian word as-sin-wati, which means "When seen from across the prairies, they looked like a rocky mass". People of the Rockies themselves, including Perry, refer to themselves as Americans, not Rockyans, because people don't consider themselves as anything different. Sometimes, Rockies are also simply called as the ''Southwest''.
Before the five states were merged, they were trying to get the resources on the scarcely available resources, and competed with each other. Vegas also was becoming the center of power, and role of Denver started to diminish. Everyone predicted it a great future, as it was growing. Well, until the Great Nuke War come knocking to the door.
During the Great Nuke War, few nukes hit Rockies, and most of them were aimed at military targets. However, Vegas was still destroyed by the nuke, and due of the fact, that some of the nuked parts of Rockies contained large amounts of regional population, territories of Rockies experienced a significant hit in population. Denver had strong enough nuclear defenses, and city was secured. Later on, it became a major industry center, and an administrative center as well, and was picked as a capital of the Rockies later on, when SC decided, that ''5 state squabbles aren't productive''.
During the 80s, Military established lots of secret bases, and holdouts there, as SC's major research centers moved to the Rockies. Alongside with them, thousands of other people followed for jobs, and hopes for new, better life. Due of that, Rockies experienced a ''Second Population Boom'' of some sort. During this period, plans of rebuilding Vegas were laid. However, rebuilding was really completed only in 2030.
In 1992, something went wrong during Commonwealth's nuclear testing, and bomb almost exploded, while being on the surface - it would cause catastrophic effects. Despite the averted catastrophe, Commonwealth still continued to test nuclear weapons in large amount in Rockies until even 2002, when the first Dictator of Rockies partially stopped testing.
Totalist Republic of Rockies was created in 2000, by merging states of Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah together, making it one of the last created megastates during the regional reform. Reason, why creation took so long was because of the terrible infrastructure, resistance from all former state governors, and state citizens, and more pressing matters elsewhere.
In 2002, the first Dictator was sworn into office by Blake Carter, who was still the President of SC back then. However, relations between the two quickly turned hostile, as Carter was the head reformist, but the newly elected Dictator - a member of the Conservative wing. The new leader ordered to build tons of artillery positions across the border, and installed martial law. That seriously damaged relations with the rest of US Megastates, and Rockies were close to being kicked out of the Commonwealth, and attacked by the rest of US Megastates - despite loads of artillery, and mountain terrain advantage, Rockies simply would be outgunned, and outnumbered. This crisis was solved diplomatically later on, however.
In 2006, a separate regional police force was founded for Rockies - until then, law and order was enforced by federal police. The new police force also engaged in suppression of labor protests, and minorities, so they are still a very controversial topic in the Commonwealth.
In 2022, various army divisions from the Rockies in SC's army came together to form the Regional Army of Rockies - a force to protect its country both in peace and war time, along with the police. The founding general of the army taught soldiers to ''use their physical power more'', and fights with melee weapons, so eventually this tradition spread from general's division to the rest of army. This was also the year, when prohibition laws were put in place once again.
In 2042, the unexpected happened - for the first time in history, a Party's member from the reformist wing became the Dictator of Rockies, which was a surprise, because Rockies traditionally were a conservative holdout. However, the Dictator managed to rule only for about 6 years, before being thrown out from the office by the militarist council, which then later elected more conservative Perry - a candidate, that was way more liked by the elites.
Recently, a lot of soldiers of the Rockies have been sent to aid the SC's troops in scramble of the world, and holding of the territory, leaving only a few army units for protection, and most of the matters in hands of police. This also has increased crime rates in Rockies as well, due of weaker army's presence.
The major rivers of Rockies are Colorado river, and Rio Grande, which provide a lot of the inhabitants with water for drinking, and crops. Largest lake is the Great Salt Lake, but its water is way more salty than sea water, as it has no source of water, and it only evaporates. It also is very shallow. Still, despite all of this, water is a valuable good in the Rockies, as water supply tends to be scarce. Tallest mountain is Mount Elbert (4401.2 m), but lowest point is at Colorado river near Sonora border (22m).
As name suggests, most of the Rockies are mountainous, and usually dry. In the West, there is the Mojave desert, but further north, there are colder deserts. Even the plains are somewhat cold. Climate is mostly either very cold, or very hot, and middle ground is rare. Water and food shortages are nothing unusual in Rockies.
In Eastern parts of Colorado, and New Mexico, there are Great Plains - one of the few agricultural regions of Rockies, and where most of the food comes from. However, it isn't enough with only them, of course, so hunters are often employed too.
Rockies are also described as ''one of the most unforgiving places to live in'' - Wildlife is pretty dangerous, especially mountain lions, which are also reported to have destroyed a few securitrons used by regional police. So, those few inhabitants of the sparsely populated areas have banded together into small towns and villages, which often don't even have more than 100 people living in them. So, someone might walk across Rockies for days, while not meeting any humans at all, except for nomads. However, despite the fact, that towns aren't as much protected as major cities like Denver are, they also have some kind of defense - at least a few soldiers patrol there regularly, and some even have their own howitzers.
Of course, there are forests as well, especially in Colorado, but they are rather poor, if compared to lush forests in Pacifica. Also, the more you move west, the less trees and forests there are.

Denver - the capital of Rockies
Rockies have an estimated population of approx 20 million people, making it one of the most sparsely populated Megastates of America. There are many reasons for that - lack of arable land for big population, vast mountains and deserts, harsh environment, and overall terrible infrastructure - while it is kinda good in cities, it sometimes consists just from dirt roads, and outdated electricity beams in rural parts of the country.
However, the few large cities in Rockies are often cramped, and are often said to ''not sleep even during the night'', and be ''Jewels of the mountains and deserts''. While regional police tries to enforce law and order as much as it can, there are still some problems with criminals, especially in field of official corruption. Vegas was destroyed during the Great Nuke War, but it later on was rebuilt, and now shines once again. While Denver is the capital, Neo Vegas is often the place, where heart of the Rockies beats. However, if compared to original Las Vegas, it is a rather sleepy city, and conservative. Despite the issues with crime, cities are often equipped with tanks, and artillery as well, in cases of emergency situations, or wartime situations - squads of Frumentarii also regularly patrol the streets. Army consists from about 50,000 men - pretty big for Rockies population.
Life for citizens outside of the great cities, however, is not that great - first, it is sparsely populated, and it might take some time, before you find an another small town. Also, although regional police tries to enforce order there as well, on paper it is often a land, which lacks order, because of the vast amounts of land, and harsh terrain, and police simply can't handle it all. So, it might take some time, before someone receives medical help, or a murder gets reported. Despite that, mortality rate between countryside and cities doesn't seem to be that different.
So, the gun laws are kind of laxer in the Rockies, if compared to other states - citizens usually learn how to shoot with a gun from an early age, in order to defend themselves from wild animals, and possible bandits - even in large cities, such things aren't out of question, not even talking about the countryside of Rockies. Still, at the same time, Rockies serve as a camp for political prisoners of some sort, because of the vast amounts of empty land. So, gun control is still in place.
Most of the populace is White, with a sizeable Hispanic, and Black minority. However, due of the programs and repressions enacted by SC in the past, the percentage of them has shrank, including Native Americans, which started to show some signs of recovery only recently. So, overall population of the Rockies is fairly homogeneous.
English is the absolute majority language of Rockies, and the main language - almost every inhabitant knows it. Of course, there is a small amount of Native language speakers, mostly in reservations, and some Spanish speakers near the border, but most of the populace knows English well. Perry's policies on language aren't that different from his predecessors - assimilation. However, the Deseret alphabet has recently overtaken normal English alphabet in former Utah, and Perry plans to force it upon the rest of Rockies as well. So, in long term, Rockies might become the oddballs of SC's America in an another way - using a different English alphabet.
People of Rockies are said to be ''physically tough, stubborn, and resistant to pain'', due of the harsh military training. They are also very faithful not only to their regional Dictator, but to Supercomputer Tom in Neo Washington as well. It is also said, that kids from the Rockies ''learn to attack with a knife first, and only after that - to shoot with a gun''. Initiation ritual is usually slaying a some kind of dangerous wild animal, or completing an extremely hard physical exercise (Like running up to the mountain with a bag of rocks). In schools, some form of pankration is usually taught as a sport, in order to prepare for possible war.
While excellent at physical labor, inhabitants of Rockies are rather poor with advanced technology. So, Perry prioritizes effort of farming, and hard job in factories, but Tom usually assigns people from Rockies to jobs, which require tons of physical strength. It is said to be engraved in their regional culture - ''Only blood, steel, and sweats will bring the results''. People of Rockies typically value usefulness over aesthetics, so buildings of the Rockies have been often described as ''bland'', and art as ''bland'' as well. Average food is also pretty poor - mostly variants of meat foods. However, despite that, there are still some quality recipes, that people there can make.
Although people from Rockies are a bit shorter than people from other regions, they are also way more stronger physically. They typically have brown eyes, and black hair. Most of the clothing is retro-futuristic, with some Roman elements. People can be seen regularly carrying around power fists, and revolvers. Populace has been indoctrinated to ''Defend the Republic until death'' - even children, and people in Rockies have focused on asymmetrical warfare as well.
Citizens typically abide the law, because they know, how horrific punishments of the regional police can be - in some cases, it might be even crucifixion, or being thrown off the Hoover Dam. Mostly, however, Rockies use firing squad, or euthanasia for criminals. Police also typically wears face masks, to look more intimidating. Sometimes, local town courts take law in their hands, if police can't arrive at time.
As Rockies are one of the most conservative Megastates, and it has a large base of reactionaries, most of the populace is devoutly religious, and percentage of atheism is lower than in Pacifica. There is also a small percentage of followers of old Native American beliefs, but those are mostly found within reservations.
Dominant religion in Rockies is Christianity, like in most of the other Commonwealth states. Two of the branches are the most important - Mormons, and Catholics. While there are some baptists as well, for an example, they are way fewer in numbers - there are way more of them in Lone Star, and Dixie.
Mormon center is in Utah, where they have the majority. There is a large support of them in the Nevada and Arizona as well, but less in Colorado and New Mexico. Although Perry has endorsed them, and their numbers have grown, they still remain a minority in Rockies overall.
On the other hand, Catholicism is still the influential force in Rockies - majority of the populace is Catholic, and Catholic priests still have a larger say in other regions of the Rockies, while Mormon supporters are centered around Idaho, and surrounding areas in Rockies. While there is a form of infighting, indeed, it is less active, than someone might expect.
Most of populace also visits churches regularly in Sundays, and practice abstinence from alcohol, and drugs. In fact, Rockies are well known for their hate against alcohol, and social conservatism.
However, private churches aren't allowed, as religion is considered as ''matter entirely in the hands of state, or governing bodies''. So, each region, including Rockies, has a certain state priest, who is a religious, and sometimes a political authority as well. Production of Holy water is also in the hands of state, as Perry thinks, that ''Only State has the best qualifications, to make an important thing like holy water.''
Rockies are a totalitarian republic, where most of the power resides in hands of a dictator. However, at the same time, country is ran by the Republican senate as well, which consists from militarists, clergymen, and politicians, which decided things by voting, similarly to other parts of the Commonwealth.
It might not come off as a surprise, that Rockies are an one-party territory, and other parties are illegal. However, that doesn't mean, that Rockies don't suffer from factionalism, just like everyone else. Conflict mostly happens between the reformist, and conservative wing of the Party in various matters, but sometimes - between religious groups as well.
Speaking of that, Rockies have traditionally been a citadel of the Conservative wing of the party, and have resisted reforms, and clung to corporatism - only a few governors of Rockies have been Reformists. Sometimes, Conservative wing of Rockies accuses Tom of ''Betraying the values of our founders'', and have attacked various reformists in discussions.
Support base varies, and is wide - from farmers to conservative factory workers, to literal reactionaries, and State company CEOs. Conservative wing has pushed many acts to ''Defend Christianity'', and due of that, percentage of atheists in Rockies is one of the lowest in the Commonwealth. Conservative wing policies also include more corporate influence than reformer one, anti-interventionism, and more centralized government.
That said, Rockies currently have reinstated prohibition to some extent - while it still allows some alcohol, as ''men need something inspirational in battlefield'', according to Perry's wprds, stronger alcoholic drinks are banned. Regional police of Rockies, and regional SCPS units are infamous for their cruelty as well, and some say, that ''it is always martial law in Rockies''.
Pacifica: Main rival of the Rockies, as their philosophies are way different - Pacifica places emphasis on strong laser technology. In past, both regions have engaged in hot debates, and in clashes as well. Both leaders hate each other with passion, and only Tom really can keep them together.
Trinity: An ally of the Rockies, and perhaps the closest friend. Both Megastates have signed treaty to ''aid each other in times of hardship'', and both of them have trade pacts going on, along with military ones. Both try to stand against Pacifica's power.
Lone Star: Both sides have pact, and relations are cordial, but not friendly, unlike with Trinity, as Lone Star isn't that interested about Rockies in particular. Also, in case, if conflict would break out with Pacifica, Lone Star couldn't be relied upon for support.
Midwest: Similarly to Pacifica, relations are pretty hostile, as Midwest has a lot of plains for growing food, and Rockies would want to grab a few of them, if they could. Also, average soldier of the Midwest is weaker than soldier of Rockies, so they prioritize numbers. Midwest has sided with Pacifica.
Dixie: Rockies have signed a shaky alliance with Dixie, but similarly to Lone Star, they can't be relied upon protection, as South is rather a neutral player in Megastate internal affairs.
Great Lakes: Similarly to Pacifica, Great Lakes put an emphasis on technocracy. However, unlike with Pacifica, Rockies have a neutral trade relationship with Great Lakes, and they aren't outright hostile. However, it should be said, that Great Lakes are mostly neutral with everyone, and share technology with Pacifica as well.
New England: Both sides don't really care about each other, but New England has sided with Pacifica in the past, which has led to strained relations.
Greater Baja: A small trading partner of the Rockies, which sometimes buys their weapons through the small border corridor. However, their relations are neutral, and Rockies often show little interest in them.
Chihuahua: An another rival, just like Pacifica. However, their tech parity is way higher, and in a possible war, Rockies could actually turn out victorious at first. However, its population is still smaller, so it mostly just clashes in small skirmishes, which has led to strained relations.
Eastern Columbia (Governing region): Relations with the Tom, and central government in Neo Washington are pretty complicated - while Rockies still pay tributes, and have sworn ''Allegiance to the Commonwealth'', in past, they have been very rebellious, if something didn't go the way they wanted, and Tom generally doesn't trust Rockies that much.
Prairies (Canada): They both are ruled by conservative members of the Party, and have made an alliance with each other, despite not being neighbors. Prairies have been one of those, which have sided with Rockies.
The rest of Canada, and rest of the world: Rockies don't really care about regions, which are further than their neighbors, and mostly maintain cold neutrality with them. There are those, who they view in a more positive light, obviously, but they don't really interact with each other outside from UCN meetings. They trade with other regions only so much, that they could survive, and are generally isolationist. They also have artillery at all borders, so they are somewhat like Albania under Hoxha.
As previously mentioned, Rockies has a lot of natural resources, with oil being one of them, along with coal, and gold. Those things, along with cattle herding, and weapon manufacturing, are one of the cornerstones of the economy of Rockies, as farming simply isn't an option, unlike in the Midwest. Rockies also earn a bit of money from casinos in Neo Vegas.
However, it could be said, that economy of Rockies is still struggling. While there has still been a rise of IT, and technology, unlike in Pacifica, Rockies haven't really embraced it, and are still kinda lagging behind. Infrastructure also isn't from the best, and productivity of the workers is hindered, and income is one of the lowest in the Commonwealth.
Despite that, some of the Commonwealth's heavy industry is still located in there, and some of the reactors there provide energy for those few large towns - they are like bright spots in the dark, if viewed on a satellite map. It also provides jobs for a lot of the citizens of Rockies, despite the hard manual labor being the primary employment provider.
Economic model of the Rockies, similarly to the most of other Commonwealth states, is a some form of mix between left and right - some describe it as a guild socialism. However, there are still differences - if Pacifica's model is more ''technocratic'', then socialism of the Rockies is way more ''ruralist'', while still being based on factory workers. Some people, including some members of the government, describe it plainly and simple - ''a fascism''.
Dictator of Rockies usually tries to keep state's hold on market as much as possible, and ''private market'' in Rockies consists from kids selling lemonade on streets at most. There are state farm communities as well, which often cooperate with heavy industry. However, one of the most important structures in economy actually are the military cooperatives - it is sometimes said, that ''Rockies produce way more weapons than food to eat''. They also play the largest role in government.

The East is one of the five Canadian Megastates, and a theocratic, Roman Catholic republic, which differs from the rest of Canada with its francophone culture. While being relatively highly developed region for SC's standards, its population is still small - even smaller than the population of Rockies. As name suggests, it is located in the Eastern Canada, and consists of states of Quebec, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. It borders Ontario to the west, New England to the south, and the Atlantic ocean to the east, It also has a sea border with the Greater North. Mostly consists from flatlands, rivers, and lakes.
While the natural resources help to sustain the region's economy, knowledge economy sectors also play a large role. Climate is usually colder in the north, but a bit warmer in the south. While its population being relatively small, it still is the second most populous region in Canada. It is also famous for its rivers and lakes, and cities as well. While its army is capable, it has spent more money on ships recently.
The meaning of the East is pretty simple - the lands of Eastern Canada. However, its other used name - Quebec, comes from Algonquin name kébec, which means "where the river narrows". The inhabitants of the East are referred to as ''Quebecois'' most often, as they consider themselves a separate entity, unlike in Rockies.
During The War - a conflict, in which SC turned from a mere superpower to a world government, Quebec was able to hold resistance for a longer time, due of being protected by a river, and due of fact, that FAE's troops were more focused on offensive on the Central Canada, which cut the country in two. However, later Quebec was still overwhelmed by the sheer amounts of invader troops. During the Great Nuke War, those few nukes, that hit Quebec, only really hit the more populated southern part, and north mostly remained intact. However, it was also the place, where majority of Quebec's population was, and it still took a lot of time to recover, just like in Rockies.
During 1985, a horrible, long winter hit the territories of East, hurting the production of crops, and causing mass food shortages. After that, a reformist candidate was elected in the East, due of promises of ''Change'', leading to reformist domination in the region for about 30 years. However, during those years, influence of the Archon (President), and Church increased as well, as they aided rural farmers during the winter, and army as well.
After giving Commonwealth State rights to Canada in 1990, question of the fate of the states rose - ''should the states be kept as they are, or should be they merged in megastates, like in US?'' Viewpoints in this case were pretty different between Party members. In the end, however, it was decided, that Quebec, PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland would be merged into the first Commonwealth state - the East, or Quebec. At first, it was suggested to merge Ontario with East as well, but it was later abandoned, due of concerns of cultural conflicts. Later on, it was decided, that Ontario should be kept as a separate state, and it was the only Canadian state, for which borders weren't altered in region reform.
Although region reform started in 1990 already, it was only completed in 2015, and although East was the first state, who started it, it wasn't the first, who implemented it - first one was Prairies in 2000, and Greater North in 2002. In fact, even Northwest completed it faster - in 2012. While in Canada, regional reform was a less painful process, and took less time than in America, it still was faced with many obstacles, and some of them still haven't disappeared.
In 2025, both regional police, and army of the East was formed, but at first, it didn't receive nearly as good training as their English Canadian counterparts - at first, they served more as a home guard, than an effective military force. Only under President-Governor (Now Archon) Cousineau, they became a well trained fighting force.
In 2045, one of the Commonwealth's largest hydro power systems was completed in the East. In combination with nuclear fuel, it gave the East, and Quebec the necessary electricity for rapid entrance in PMT-age. However, at the same time, something way darker happened - in the secret labs of PEI, the Archon of the East ordered experiments with mind control, and usage of more stronger EMP guns. Main head in charge - Etienne Lapierre, got the nickname ''Evil genius'' by his peers.
Currently, East remains relatively unaffected by the problems in frontline, and is more concerned about threats, opportunities, and its future. Cousineau's demotion to an Archon caused massive protests from the East's politicians, as ''their important voice in politics was gone''. However, for now it still seems, that East will play an important rule in Canada's future...
In the south, land mostly consists from plains, and although terrain is mostly flat, there are some batholites, which are rich with resources. It has a humid, continental climate, with humid summers, and long, cold winters, and precipitation is abundant. Most of the central parts of the East have a sub-arctic climate, with short, but warm summers, and cold, and long winters. Finally, in the north, there's arctic climate, with fewer precipitation, and much longer winters.
Some parts of the Quebec, and Newfoundland are a part of the Canadian Shield, which mostly consists from eroded hills, and many lakes, along with rivers, which are used for hydroelectricity production. It has some mountain ranges as well, and encloses wetlands near the Hudson Bay. It is also known for its extensive mineral, and forest resources, and although it can't supply mass agriculture, it can supply some farms near the river valleys.
Most of the population centers are in the south, and similarly to Rockies, there is a high difference in population density. Most of the northern, and central parts of the East are sparsely inhabited, with mostly small towns, and villages. Although quality of roads is kind of bearable, infrastructure is not that good in some places. Largest city is Quebec City, along with Montreal.
Animals like puffins, polar bears, wild horses, and squirrels can be found there. Some of them are threatened by the resource mining from the soil of the East, and factories, but Archon also tries to protect them, mostly for public image, and calculating means, however.
Tallest point is Mount Caubvick (1,652 m), but lowest point - at the Atlantic ocean (0 m).

Traditionally, East has experienced a slow, yet stable growth in population. Some say, that if not for strong immigration laws within Commonwealth, then population could be even higher. Still, despite the increase of population in cities, a lot of the weight is still on the shoulders of farms, as cities can't really provide themselves with urban farming yet.
Despite improvements of technology, the East is still one of the places, where robots aren't granted citizenship, and belong to the state instead. There are estimated to be around 4500 robots in the East currently.
East is also one of the places, which is slowly aging - median age is around 40. That might create labor shortages in future, so some of the party's members propose to continue automation, or make workers work harder, and longer. Other, more sci-fi option, would just grow new humans in vats.
Despite the attempts of ''Angloification'' in the past, and trying to make French language out of use, now French is widely spoken between citizens of the East once again, and now most of the local populace is Francophone - only about 2% can't speak French, even if the actual amount of French Canadians is lower.
Average birthrate is 2.6, due of the regional government's anti-abortion and anti-contraception stance, and aggressive ''two kid'' policy as well - guaranteeing, that one family has at least two kids. (Adoption also was an option, however). Still, the birthrates have decreased a bit in the last years, mostly because people have found a way to circumvent it, or because government has become more lax on its own, due of overpopulation threat.
Most of populace consists from French Canadians, who live mostly in Quebec. East also has a significant English Canadian, and Scottish minority, mostly in Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. Natives dwell mostly in the northern parts of the East.
Unlike most of other Canadian Megastates, East has a Francophone culture, and both its government, and citizens take pride in it. Also, in the past, their culture in the East was suppressed by the orders of the Tom's regional governors, so they are militaristic as well, and often practice combat training from early on, to ''be ready, if someone tries to do it again''.
Most often spoken language is French, along with English. While both are taught, English is more often required in communication with other regions, as it is the ''International'' language of the SC. Also, model for the schools usually could be described as similar to the Chinese model.
The East is often said to be ''the ideal mix between ruralism and technocracy'', according to Tom's words - while the citizens of the East are one of the leading ones in IT and medical research, they are also hard working farmers, and mobile scientific laboratories are nothing unusual. Jewelry, and extravagance is also not a dresscode in the East - in rural parts, a farmer's outfit is preferred, while in the urban parts - a simple coat, because according to the Archon, ''Beauty is simplicity''.
While strength indeed is one of the most important values there, wisdom, and ability to keep a cool head is also a value kept dear. People are also typically defiant, and their fighting spirit, when fighting against all odds, is well know within Commonwealth. Sometimes their artillery is jokingly referred to as ''baguette artillery''.
Most of the populace is Roman Catholic, with a significant Protestant minority. However, it has been on a steady decline since the beginning of displacement programs, where French Canadians from other Canadian Megastates have moved to the East, while English Canadians have been settled in other regions. In the North, there are some followers of the indigenous beliefs, but their numbers are rather small, just like in Rockies. Percentage of atheists is a bit bigger, but still low, because of fairly religious nature of the East.
Government, and religion aren't separated in the East - as party still maintains some of the clerical fascist values, clergymen are not only religious leaders, but also political leaders as well. However, in matter of monarchy, government has been strict - ''no restoration at any point, ever!'', despite the pleas of some of the church members to install at least a figurehead back.
While priests have a large authority, they also have a lot of obligations - they are expected to show the example to the new generation, as they are often responsible for education as well. Also, it is required for state churches to donate some of their income to social credit welfare - private charity is pretty absent in the East.
While Native indigenous belief Church is tolerated by the Catholic Church of the East, it isn't particularly interested in supporting it in any way either, as it still sees it as a competitor, and unlike the Protestant church, which sometimes receives money from other regions, Native church sometimes receives money only from the Greater North, or has to survive on its own funds.
As it is deeply involved in politics, it isn't politically neutral, obviously, and has its own agenda - it often has managed to make conservative wing legislations to pass into the East's parliament. However, unlike in Rockies, East has had many reformist wing Archons as well, and some of the Prelates have been reformist as well.
The church plays so big role in the East, that it is widely considered a theocratic regional government. Church is led by a Prelate, who has near-absolute authority over it. Prelate can be removed from power only by orders of the Archon, Regional-Governor of Ontario (Who also is the leader of Commonwealth State of Canada), and Supercomputer Tom himself. (Including his secretary Kian Kirk)
Country itself, however, is led by an Archon, who also has a near absolute authority. While both the clergy, and other members of the council (like militarists) can give Archon an advice, and Archon is expected to at least listen to them, Archon can take most of the decisions on their own, except when they aren't sure, if their decision would be correct.
For an administrative region (Megastate), power is also very centralized, and although there are a few autonomous regions for Natives, particularly in the north, in most of the East, an unitary rule is enforced by the local ruling party.
A large amount of the supporter base is in the more conservative territories of the East, particularly between farmers, due of the local party's ruralist ideals. In the cities (Including the capital - Quebec City), government has less support. Government also doesn't enjoy much support in the Inuit towns and fishing villages in the north.
One of the government's policies is ''promotion of public decency'', which also includes censoring artwork, which government finds ''inappropriate''. However, unlike Rockies, they don't spend that much money on military, and rather invest it in a new farming technology, as life of the East is very tightly knit to rural farming and fishing, even the lifes of cities.
Ontario: Despite Ontario being the leader of the Canada, East, and Ontario has some kind of rivalry going on between both of them - both often compete either in productivity, or technology, in order to be treated more favorably by the Tom. Some of the previous leaders have even despised each other openly. It is typically seen as an Franco-Anglo conflict of some sort.
Greater North: Both regions have signed ship agreements - free entry in the territorial waters of both Megastates. It could be said, that their relations are neutral-positive. However, they have been tense in the past, about the dispute of islands near the coast of Quebec.
New England (America): One of the East's closest allies, which has entered a pact of friendship, despite both Megastates being in different Commonwealth States (Canada and America). Both Megastate leaders secretly are insecure about their future, in case if Commonwealth would collapse, so they decided to improve ties with each other, to resist the tide in case, if things would go wrong.
Eastern Columbia (Central government): While being supportive of the Tom in public, most of the Archons (Including Cousineau) of the East have disliked Tom, and most of his other lackeys. There are conspiracies, that the East is planning to become independent somewhere in the future, by pushing for Quebecois separatism.
Prairies: Both states have some kind of negative relations, due of population displacements from both regions. Also, as the East isn't fond of Rockies as well, it will naturally find it hard to like those, who are.
Northwest: Their relations are neutral, to say the least, as they both are pretty far from each other, and don't have much to feud about.
The rest of America, and World: Similarly to Rockies, the East is apathetic about that, what is happening outside of their own Commonwealth state. Of course, they are less isolationist, but they still prefer to keep to themselves.
The East has a large mining sector, with minerals like aluminium, zinc, and gold creating a significant part of the economic of the East. Some of the river valleys are very arable, and productive, making agriculture a significant part of the economy, and ensuring, that the state can feed itself. The lakes, rivers, and forests of the East are also a significant part of the economy.
Medicine, and IT are also one of the sectors, which are growing pretty quickly in the East. While not being an outright technocracy, the East has hosted a lot of medical, and scientific research, and has managed to reach a relatively high development, despite being very religious. However, the reason for that might be the fact, that Archon of the East, similarly to Tom, keeps out the Prelate from scientific research. However, its exports still mostly consist from minerals, as it makes technology only for itself.
In Newfoundland, there are high amounts of uranium, and oil as well, which significantly enrich economy. However, transporting them is an issue as well, because infrastructure is good only in the south - the more you move north, the less infrastructure you have, which also decreases possible productivity. For now, the best option for delivering resources is with ships. Nickel and copper has been found in western Quebec, and extraction of natural gas from Nova Scotia has also benefited the East significantly.
Economic model of Quebec is a bit different - social credit, a syncretic, and populist economy model, which suggests, that consumer purchasing power should be increased either by subsidizing producers so that they can lower prices or by distributing the profits of industry to consumers. It is also inspired from distributism, and very religious.
While Archon Cousineau isn't fond of free market, and rather prefers a regulating hand, local Party is strictly anti-communist as well. So, current model is some weird form of state capitalism - economy is planned economy, at least on paper, while market is a bit more free than in Rockies, for an example. Labor laws are a bit more lax as well, but strong protectionist laws are intact as well.

The British Isles is the capital region of European Federation, and a collection of authoritarian republics, which is located in the Western Europe. One of the most developed regions of European Federation, but it still was affected from shelling during the ''Perpetual War''. It has no land border with anyone, but it shares a sea border with Scandinavia, and Western Europe (France, and Benelux). Traditionally a stronghold of the reformist wing - most of the governors have been reformers since Swanson. It also has more atheists than previously mentioned regions. Most of terrain is plains.
In past called as ''European Outpost'' as well, it is one of the most fortified SC's island groups. It also gets its oil from the Scottish reserves, and is a major contributor to Commonwealth's health, military science, and IT breakthroughs. Its army is also one of the best equipped armies from all Commonwealth states (And infamous, due of their tanks, which use shells of spent uranium), and keeps order not only in Britain, but in the rest of Europe as well, alongside with regional units. Most of its past symbols of the monarchy have been either destroyed, or changed by FAE's orders, though.
Diodorus Siculus called British Isles Prettanikē nēsos, or ''the British Island", but people - as Prettanoi, or "the Britons". Greek and Latin names were probably drawn from Native names of the archipelago. During the times of Caesar, shift from ''P'' to ''B'' happened. Others use the term ''Anglo-Celtic Isles''. There is still a dispute going on between Kayden and Irish governors about usage of the terms.
United Kingdom, along with Ireland as well, was one of the first victims of FAE's war machine - according to Kayden's words, ''Our once proud navy was either brought down into the bottom of the ocean, or seized by our new overlord, our country was in ruins, but our leadership - mercilessly purged''. After the defeat of the mainland UK, war wasn't over yet, however - FAE still had to deal with UK's remaining dominions, and its colonies, and with royalist resistance as well. After bringing UK to its knees, Mosley was put as the first President-Governor of the British Isles. However, he was extremely unpopular among the populace, and resistance continued to rage on. (In fact, Falklands even served as a labor camp for FAE's enemies for a while) There are still unmarked mass graves of royalist rebels both in SC's British Isles, and SC's Canada.
In 1960, new nuclear training programs were started all across the FAE, and British Isles weren't an exception - people were taught, how to leave surface to safety in vaults as fast as possible, and what to do, if they can't leave it in time. This training program was active for a very long time, and got slowed down only after the collapse of the two other superstates. However, there are still exercises, which are supposed to deal with the nuclear war, as due of the fact, that government of the other two superstates can't take care about all of the other warheads anymore, there is a high risk, that rogue group might try to steal them. In fact, that was one of (but not the most important) reasons for the Scramble of the World - Kayden wanted to grab nukes for SC as fast as possible, because, according to his words, ''The longer those nukes aren't protected, the more risk of them being seized increases''.
At first, Ireland, and UK were administrated as separate entities by the FAE, but in 1970, that changed - Ireland and UK, along with Iceland, and Faroe Islands, was merged into England and Ireland by the orders of FAE's government. Of course, groups like IRA, Icelandic nationalists, and even some of the local party's members, weren't satisfied with this decision, and launched partisan warfare. Soon after that, however, special units deployed by British crushed most of resistance, and although insurgents managed to hold for about two decades, they lost every major skirmish. Still, one thing they did manage to achieve - FAE's leadership started to think of an alternative for current administration. Discussions about administration of two islands separately began in 1985 already, and in 1992, two years after the creation of Commonwealth, a separate Irish region was actually created. However, Britain still kept Northern Ireland, along with Iceland. Later, during Kayden's rule, Northern Ireland was given to Irish Autonomy as well, but Iceland was set in preparations to be eventually incorporated into the new administrative state of Scandinavia, after SC would be complete. Later on, more self-governing regions would be set up in Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, and Isle of Man too.
In 2010, Britain started to work on its own power armor, and had became more assertive from the Megastates of America in terms of technological progress, because, according to Swanson's words, ''We want to get our own place under the sun, and restore our past glory, with new plans on the table. Of course, our brothers across Atlantic can help us with this task, but we must not become too reliant on them, so we must research our technology''. Back then, Federation was still a new idea, which was still only gaining its ground in the Republican Congress - some wanted to preserve a more isolationist policy.
In 2035, 5 years after Swanson's death, the Party officially denounced corporatism, and moved more towards syndicalist model, while still keeping some of the tenets of the past, with social conservatism being one of them. By then, Federation was a serious idea now, and Kayden was already launching preparations. Meanwhile, a flag referendum took place between Party's members - some wanted to replace the Union Jack with chartist tricolor, and BUF's lightning on them. However, in the end, Kayden settled down for a modified Union Jack variant.
In 2048, Kayden launched a ship scouting expedition across the coasts of most of western Europe, and Norway, in order to examine the situation, and best places for SC's, and British armies to land. It was decided, that it was the best to land in France, as it was the closest to Britain, and it hadn't got a big turmoil going on, or a harsh, rugged coastline like Norway. However, even before the SC actually started to push into Europe, Kayden sent his agents to prepare the ground for SC's troops, examine the situation, and possibly sign alliances with the local movements - it would later help a lot with SC's conquering speed.
Currently, British Isles, with Kayden in charge, have been trying to stabilize the new territories conquered by Federation, and new borders of administrative regions are already being drawn. British had the most weight on their shoulders during European campaign - they needed to prepare landing ground for other SC's troops, establish safe holdout points, and deal with assertive regional governors (Particularly in Balkans) - some of them weren't particularly fond of the idea of a Federation, and Kayden ordered many secret assassinations. However, everyone also knows, that it is only the beginning of Federation, and real challenges are only still ahead, during the ''peace'' time...
Climate is mostly moist, and mild, with regular rainfalls during the year, and cloudy skies. Climate is typically classified as ''temperate oceanic climate'', and there are few temperature extremes in British Isles - summers tend to be cool, while winters tend to be rather mild. Still, eastern parts are more colder, drier, and temperatures can range more, and northern areas (Scottish Highlands in particular) tend to have more cold and wet, and have more extreme temperatures. Climate also tends to change a lot, and Irish saying about ''Four seasons in one day'' tends to apply sometimes. During the summer months, thunderstorms, and windstorms can develop in the Isles.
Terrain is mostly low altitude, and flat. Exceptions are the Scottish highlands, which are pretty mountainous, and have the tallest peaks in British Isles. There are mountainous regions in Wales as well, and parts of Ireland, but those aren't that tall. Tallest Ireland's mountain is Carrauntoohil (1,038.6 m). Loch Morar is the deepest lake in British Isles (310 m), while Shannon is the longest river in British Isles (360.5 km), but the longest river in River Severn (354 km) - there are many major rivers in British Isles.
There are two large islands - Ireland, and England, along with lots of other small islands. There tends to be more islands at the western coast, along with more bays, and peninsulas. From the other islands, Scottish isles of Hebrides, Orkney, and Shetland are the largest, along with Anglesey and the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands.
England itself holds most of the population of British Isles, which is mostly inhabited by English people. In other parts like Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Wales, and Cornwall, population is really dense only in major cities, with countryside being pretty sparsely populated. However, a sizeable amount of people still live in the rural side, due of Kayden's encouragement programs.
Tallest mountain is Ben Nevis (1 345 m), while the lowest point are the mud flats of North Slob (−3 m), which were reclaimed from sea.

London - the capital of British Isles
Population of the British Isles is estimated to be around 65 million, with most of the people living in England. In past, there was a population boom, which has slowed down significantly since then. While more and more people are starting to move to cities in England, there is still a relative balance between the rural, and city population. However, in other administrative regions, which are governed by others (Ireland, Scotland), there is already a slight disparity between countryside and major cities. Terrain is for the most part good for a large population. (Except for Scottish highlands, which are very sparsely populated)
In recent years, a new population boom has hit autonomous regions as well, including Ireland, and population has grown pretty rapidly. Also, languages like Irish and Welsh are being taught more by the regional governors as well, unlike in past, when the only language was English. However, situation for smaller groups is still bleak, as their language isn't really used outside from their regions, and English still remains as more important language.
Birth ratio is estimated to be around 3.4 as well, however, it is so high only because of government's agressive breeding programs. Also, in a secret survey, it was revealed, that "a significant percent of the children actually suffer from malnutrition, as some of the poorer families simply can't afford to buy enough food for them". If growth continues at the same rate, there might be a risk of overpopulation in future, when "Farms will simply not be able to provide the necessary food", according to the Irish Minister of Agriculture.
Immigration, however, is almost non-existent, and most of the foreigners are either temporary workers, higher ups (like generals, and military scientists), or other Europeans, which were recruited by Kayden, and dislocated in Britain. In general, meeting an foreigner is an usual, and unusual experience for common citizen at the same time - while soldiers from other Commonwealth states can be seen quite often in British Isles, seeing an non-military personnel from other Commonwealth States, or even other administrative region is something else.
Overall, British Isles are very homogeneous, and diversity is lacking. However, one group is still growing in the British Isles - robots. With more advanced technological research, robots can be seen around quite often both in Ireland, and Britain, and not only in factories - while they haven't been granted citizenship yet (For now, citizenship for robots outside Siberia is given only in special cases), some of them are already being taught, how to drive with a car, or a tank. In some hotels, robot chefs are already a thing.
One of the most popular past time activities for the Party's members is fox hunting - a lot of the British Party's members can be seen in forests with rifles, while trying to hunt not only foxes, but some larger animals as well. Of course, there are still limits, of how much animals can be hunted, and what kind, and while still possible, it is a lot harder for poorer classes to participate in hunting. People also tend to chill out with either Whiskey in Ireland and Scotland, or beer in Britain. Despite that, there are laws on alcohol as well.
People usually are depicted as ''stoic, and brave'', and patriotic, and nationalist marches can be seen in streets often. One of the most important values of all inhabitants of British Isles, according to Kayden, is ''Readiness to work together for a common goal, despite past feuds, and language barriers''. While Ireland remains relatively loyal, it has tried to switch more to the Gaelic Irish words, than Anglicized Irish words.
Scientists, policemen, and militarists are usually one of the most trusted people across the British Isles, while people are proud about their sailors too - after receiving more funds for navy from FAE, and rebuilding it, Britannia (Or Federation) ruled the waves once again. However, at the same time, politicians have lesser trust between the populace, mostly due of the past scandals.
Education system is more similar to China's, and specialized, just like in Megastates. Those citizens, who are unfit for either military service, farm work, or work in factory, and haven't done studies in some other profession, are often assigned to unskilled labor by the state. Fear mongering, and propaganda are also very common in British Isles.
Still, like most of the Commonwealth, most of the British Isles are militarist societies, and don't have compassion for those, who are weak in their eyes. Although Kayden provides some kind of welfare for the poorer workers, he also says, that "only healthy and good workers should receive welfare".
British Isles are mostly Anglican Protestant, with most of the English populace following it. It is also the most popular religion in British Isles, even when taking the Ireland in account. There are a bit more Catholics in northern parts of England, and Scottish lowlands.
On the other hand, Catholics have the majority in Ireland, which also has a state church. However, unlike in England, Irish Church has more influence in matters of state, and percentage of atheists is way lower. Still. Even with Irish territories counted, Catholicism is still a smaller religion in the British Isles. While there were modern Celtic neo-pagan movements in the past, they didn't received any support from all governors, as dominating parties were staunchly Christian, and without government's support, you can't get far in SC...
While religion has a big influence in the highly socially conservative society of British Isles, and so does the church, it, and government is still separated in a sense. Also, it has a higher atheist percentage than Rockies, or the East. Now, after the Britain became a republic under FAE's guidance, the head of the Anglican Church is Bishop, who can be appointed either by priests, or Kayden himself. Still, despite that, government, and church still are pretty much partners. However, there are people, who would want to see even more power in the hands of Bishop...
Like in most of SC's states, religious freedom is not a right in British Isles, and Protestants in England actively enforce Protestantism, while Catholics in Ireland - Catholicism. However, that doesn't really ease the religious tension, but rather only makes it worse, as some of the more radical Catholics still view Protestants as rivals
Almost all older people are religious, especially in rural areas. While youth is very religious as well, in the last years, atheism has had a tendency to grow. Some of the church's expenses are funded by government, but usually government expects something in return.
In some way, the Union of British Isle Republics is decentralized, and centralized at the same time - while the local minorities indeed rule the land, which has been given to them by Kayden, and British government has smaller say there, it influences its subjects in other ways, and tries to make sure, that people loyal to Kayden get elected in Party's elections. Also, in the rump region of England itself, rule is unitary.
London is not only the capital of the England, but of the Federation as well. The Republican Congress is located in the former Buckingham palace. One room is for the meetings, that are about all of the Europe, with seats for all representatives. Another, smaller room, is for matters, that are either matters of British Isles only (Representatives from regions like Ireland), or just on England itself (Seats then are used by British Party's members themselves). Other regions under Kayden take decisions in their own congress rooms.
One of the Party's policies is regulation school in economics, moralism, Pan-Europeanism, and paternalist conservatism - pretty similar to most of the other regions. However, unlike in the past, when it supported the King, now it supports the Republican model. It is also sometimes seen as the lapdog of Tom, despite Kayden trying to assure, that it isn't.
Most of the regional factions usually have two fractions - ''corporate'', and ''socialist'' wing. One is more in favor of corporatism, and some kind of market, but ''socialist'' wing is more favor in state's economy. Some of the ''socialists'' have also inspired from the syndicalist model. Exception is Ireland, which hasn't got many fractions within its governing party.
Its support base is mostly in cities, as reformist wing is more popular in cities, but depending on who is in charge, it might differ. It also enjoys a significant support between students, and retired soldiers, along with some of the state megacorp CEOs, and some religious leaders. There are many supporters between army scientists as well. In fact, most of the resistance comes from smaller minority governments, which also sometimes are a trouble.
Isle of Man: The smallest of the autonomies, and usually irrelevant in the bigger scheme of things. Kayden mostly shows little interest in locals, and for most part, local Manx rulers just need to pay small tributes to the central government in London.
Cornwall: Mostly neutral - unlike with Ireland or Scotish Autonomy, there are no major disputes between Cornish, and British government. However, despite the active work of regional governors to promote Cornish values, British still remain more influential there.
Scotland: Relations with Scottish autonomy are more similar to relations between Ireland - there is a some kind of rivalry going on. However, Scotland is usually left behind in this race. Also, unlike Irish army, which actually could provide a challenge, Scottish army is not that powerful. Of course, mountains could provide defense in case of conflict, but soldiers would be simply outgunned... Some of the Scots in the northwest also speak in Scottish Gaelic.
Wales: Despite the qualms in past, Wales governor is one of the Kayden's closest allies. Wales is also very dependent on England for protection in terms of army, and economically as well, so while nationalism is strong there as well, it often has to bend to Kayden's own interests.
Ireland: Traditionally, there has been a distaste between those two groups, even when they were working together under one banner, and there was a period, when both regional governors hated each other. However, during Kayden's rule, Irish opinion about him has increased a bit since the Northern Ireland was ceded back to Ireland. However, there still remains bitterness between two governors.
Western Europe: Even during the times, when Federation was just in planning phase, local French, and Benelux parties have competed with each other, and their leaders have entered a rivalry of some kind. Although for now, the Western Europe is dependent from the investment of the British Isles, due of their territory being in ruins after the devastating collapse of Russian Empire, in future, when it heals its wounds, it might become a strong competing force against Kayden, in fight of Tom's approval.
Scandinavia: A mixed bag - regional parties range from neo-pagans, to Lutheran clerical fascists, so it can be hard sometimes for British to find a common ground with all of them. Still, there is less of a rivalry between Scandinavia and British Isles, than there is between Western Europe. Both sides are also pretty cordial allies.
America: Relations between Megastates, and Federation can be most correctly described as ''carefully friendly''. While both governors have a mutual respect against each other, have entered many pacts, and generally consider themselves as friends, both are still suspicious of each other - Federation sometimes feels, that they are used like a pawn in a chess game. Megastates, however, are suspicious of Federation's true motives - while they both are allied, Federation also pursues its own interests, and isn't a 100% reliant ally.
The rest of the Federation, and World: Unlike some of other administrative regions, British Isles are interested a lot about other Commonwealth States, and rest of the Federation's members, as they are in charge of one of Commonwealth's States, and they have a large responsibility on their shoulders. In fact, they kind of have to be sure about what political tendencies are actual in the Commonwealth.
Agriculture in British Isles is extensive, and highly mechanized, if compared to some of the other parts of the Federation. It is also fairly efficient, as Kayden aims for almost complete self-sufficiency in terms of food, and there have been experiments to grow more exotic fruits in greenhouses as well. Fishing industry also is an another major player in economy, although a less significant one. In the end, despite the fact, that industries like IT, military weapons, and medicine get the most attention, agriculture is the backbone of British Isles, which keeps it running.
British Isles are one of the main SC's oil providers, with many of the POC's oil rigs being located in the North Sea. In fact, fossil fuels are still a significant part of the British energy sources, with others being the coal, and nuclear fuels, which use has increased a lot during the last years. However, amounts of oil have been in decline since the 2000s, and one part of the British Isles have already started to shift to nuclear fuel. However, there have been experiments with synthetic oil going on as well, and a lot of the British tanks have been running on synthetic fuel for a long time already, while nuclear power is used for nuclear shells for tanks.
Things like iron ore, salt, limestone, tin, clay, chalk, and lead also are one of the main minerals, which help the British economy. However, in the end, more and more money gets spent to service industries, particularly in retail. In Ireland, one of the main industries is beverage industry, and software industries. Despite that, the primary sector is still agriculture, just like in British Isles - while population density differences between major cities and countryside is even bigger than in England, farming still keeps the army marching.
Engineering, pharmacies, and medical technologies are large sectors in Ireland as well. There has been an IT boom recently, and growth has been ever bigger than in England. However, punitive taxes are often a common norm in both islands. Alongside with European credit, Ireland also uses the Irish pound, just like Scottish Autonomy uses Scottish pound alongside with European credit. Alcohol production is also a significant source of income.
In some ways, economy resembles a highly protectionist Tory economy, along with ''Christian work ethic'', and with state controlling labor unions, instead of outright destroying them. However, at the same time, economy is highly in the hands of the state, and despite moving away from corporatism officially, British Isles still have the state corporation model like in Megastates. Also, surveillance by the state is used both against CEOs (Often retired generals, or politicians), and workers themselves, so it could be said, that state is neither's friend. In fact, paternal conservatism - one of the ideologies of the ruling party of the Federation, has become so tightly associated with the state economy, that it is almost impossible for most of citizens to define ''liberal conservatism''.
