Grand Inquisitor Kaetus' Inner Circle

Age: 37

Gaius currently commands the Inquisition blackbirds, giving him command of the second largest unit of the activities division. Gaius was at one point a member of the Air assault infantry STAG elite unit. He was eventually offered a position in the Owls after exemplary service and being a model Litan soldiers. Both his time as a STAG soldier and an Owl had Gaius see action during the Arashi War, the Pantoran tribal wars, and the Litan War on terror.

During one operation against Zeller's Army, Gaius was caught in the blast of an improvised explosive device. Gaius had over 50% TBSA burns, numerous deep shrapnel wounds, several broken bones, and severe inhalation burns. Gaius was considered expectant by the starling that found him, but much to the medic's shock, Gaius was still alive and kicking. Due to his injuries, Gaius was discharged from the Owls and was set to be medically from the Inquisition as a whole. The Grand Inquisitor had heard about Gaius' story and gave him a choice: Leave the Inquisition, recover, and live a normal life as a national hero. Or take some leave time, recover, and be the new commander of the inquisition blackbirds.

Despite the Owl's dislike of the Black birds that he still harbored, Gaius decided to swallow his pride and continue to serve his nation. After recovering for 8 months in advanced care, Gaius assumed leadership of the blackbirds. Under his leadership, the blackbirds have grown considerably from being an overstaffed and underused combat support unit, to a unit that can handle operations on Their own and assists higher tier inquisition operatives on missions.

Gaius is a typical Litan War horse and is often considered a model Inquisition soldier. He is the polar opposite of commander Vickers, being much more professional and respectful as opposed to Vickers brash maverick attitude. He also has some overachiever tendencies, as he wants to not be seen as useless due his past injuries or his age. This extends to his commanding of the blackbirds as he tends to volunteer them for operations that may be better suited for the Vultures or Condors.

In the times that he deploys with his troops, he wears a black tactical uniform with a special respirator/gas mask combination. The respirator connects directly to his trachea and is necessary for him to breath as the fire that he inhaled scorched his respiratory tract and damaged his lungs beyond repair. Despite this, the respirator actual allows him to breathe much better and much more efficiently than a regular person. He can physically exert himself without exhaustion for longer than most athletes, he is immune to any sort of toxic gases, and he can even breathe underwater. His preferred weapon is a steyr TMP modified with a fixed stock, Aimpoint sight, and a supressor.

Karen was at one time a high ranking intelligence operative within the Chinese PLA. She rather infamous among the Inquisition as she had on several occasions stolen intelligence, eliminated undercover assets, sabotaged operations, and has even killed several inquisition agents operatives herself. This all lead to her being on of the most wanted people in the Inquisition but she was virtually untouchable, until the grand inquisitor himself stepped in. He managed to find the alias that she went by when not on duty and tracked down where she lived.

Kaetus came to her with the intent to kill or recruit her to the Inquisition. She revealed that she had only ever been acting under her orders from her superiors, and that she held nothing against the Litan Imperium. Kaetus then offered her a position within the Crows in exchange for all the intelligence that she had gathered on the Imperium as well as any useful PLA intel that the Inquisition could use. She said that she couldn't join the Inquisition as the Chinese government was holding her family hostage and forcing her to work for them under threat of killing her family.

Kaetus then modified his offer, saying that she didn't need to give him any of the Intel. He also said that he would personally see to it that her family is rescued and the she along with her family would live protected in the imperium. After making him swear that he would do as he said, Karen Gave him access to all the Intel she had and access to high level Chinese intel on Litan And Chinese operations. Kaetus then gave her a signal transmitter to use when she is ready to leave for the Imperium.

After she received word from Kaetus that he had rescued her family, she signaled him to send her and her family transport to the Imperium. Upon reaching the Imperium, she reported to the Inquisition and quickly got to work as a Crow. She easily proved her worth with her experience in Chinese intelligence and rose to the position of Crow commander.

Karen is a quiet and reserved individual who very adept at blending in to crowds. She is very capable of putting on a variety of seemingly authentic facades. Karen also takes great pride in her work, and also takes great pleasure in manipulating and using people. Especially those who have proven to be a nuisance to her. Despite her using a variety of methods to manipulate and gather information, up to and including seduction, she has stated that she only has eyes for three people. The grand Inquisitor, Commander Katherine Royce, and Captain Damien Domitius Aurelian, the latter she often flirtaciously teases whenever she sees him.

Aside from gathering information from people, she is also a highly skilled infiltrator and martial arts expert. Her signature weapons are two Sig Sauer GSRs made to accomadate bayonets.

Vickers is the current leader for the Owls, Vultures, and condors of the Inquisition. Which results in him being in charge of much of the Inquisition's military forces. He originally came to the Imperium after fleeing a dishonorable discharge in the U.S. Army. After arriving in the Imperium, he originally joined the Talon mercenary freelancer group. He gained a reputation for brutality and ruthless efficiency even among the talons, and quickly became one of the their top members.

Clyde left Talon Company after several members tried to kill him, calling him a business rival. He then went on to become a freelancer, doing numerous jobs for the military and government. He frequently did jobs for inquisition agents and representatives which in which he completed his tasks efficiently and ,somewhat, professionally. He gained the attention of Grand Inquisitor Kaetus after he assumed command of an inquisition operation he was hired for and completed it. He was then offered a position into the Inquisition as the new commander for the Inquisition Owls, vultures, and Condors. Clyde accepted only on the conditions that he be able to personally join operations and create a training program of his own design.

Clyde is ruthless, arrogant, rude, and merciless when in the field. Seemingly enjoying combat and reveling in the kill. Clyde also has some sadomasochistic tendencies, the cuts on the undersid of his arms and his glasgow smile are the result of this. Clyde considers himself to be a ladies man of sorts and is utterly shameless in his flirting. Kaetus States that he puts up with his behavior only because of his skill and leadership abilities.

He wears a custom ballistic face mask with numerous burns scratches and dents, which he has kept as trophies of previous battles and fights. His signature weapon is a Trident Arms Exitus Rifle, a powerful .300 blackout rifle known for it's high accuracy and reliability. He also is fond of four knives that he always carries sheathed in his vest, two pushblades, A bowie knife, and a balisong.

Clyde is a lyriite user, specifically blooded lyriite. He primarily uses his blood abilities to boost his deadliness in combat with his knives. His preferred skill is the bloodlust ability, which increases his speed, strength, and bloodthirstiness as he has wounds inflicted on him. This boost in power is proportional to the amount of blood that he looses from his wounds, meaning that he doesn't suffer any effects from heavy blood loss or hemorrhaging until it gets to the point that he should drop dead. It is at this point of near death that Clyde is at his most powerful and dangerous, capable of dashing at speeds of mach 2 and moving with his knives at such speeds that He us only visible as a blur. His strength also greatly increases, being able to plow through brick walls and thick stone with little effort as well as cut through steel with any of his knives in a single slash. While Clyde is in this "bloodlust mode" he eminates a red aura that glows brighter as he gets more powerful. He combines this in conjunction with his literal blood thirst ability, this allowing him to absorb the blood of others in order to replenish any that he looses. He can absorb it either through it splashing onto his skin or him even drinking the blood itself.

Katherine Royce was a former high ranking member of the the now defunct Federal Security Directive. During her time in the FSD, Royce was captured, interrogated, and tortured by members of the Reapers insurgent group. While she was rescued, a week after her capture, she had suffered numerous injuries that would leave permanent scars on her whole body including her face. Her vocal cords were also damaged enough to render her unable to speak, but she preserved and tried to go back to the FSD to only be turned away.

Grand Inquisitor Kaetus, after disbanding the directive, found Royce working as a member of the Layter security Group and offered her a position in the inquisition after realizing who she was. She was given the position of Hawk Commander, which she performs in exceptionally well despite her handicap. She often decides to personally accompany individuals of high importance such as the Viceroy, Imperator and his sons, The grand inquisitor, and other important officials. Many would be assassins have been stopped by her, often by her shooting them dead herself. She is also the reason why the Imperatorial Phalanx was created, saying that the Imperator needs a dedicated security detachment with heavier armor and weapons than the Hawks.

Royce is seen as one of the few kind and genuinely good people within the Inquisition. She a great desire to protect those she is charged with and is more than willing to risk her own life to ensure their safety. She also, unlike much of the other commander's, isn't hated by the Praetor who actually holds a great deal of respect towards her. On mission, she puts the lives of both her agents and whomever she is protecting above hers.

Her typical equipment is the same as that used by the Hawks. She wears the normal brown and orange jumpsuit with a blood sap plate carrier vest on top. She forgoes the helmet worn by other agents, saying it's to reassure those she's protecting that she and all her agent's are still human and will protect them. She also has to wear the communication collar due to her damaged vocal cords. Her standard weapon is the Weyland SAW, a fully automatic support weapon capable of laying down heavy suppressive fire.

Darrus is the commander that the Inquisition as a whole treats with a degree of suspicion. This is primarily because of his past as a high ranking member of the Inquisition's primary rival organization, civil protection. He served 8 years in the city #1 department, becoming an expert in Civil Protection tactics and procedures. Unfortunately, he felt that was unable to fully do his job because of red tape and beaurocra. As a result of this, he voluntarily resigned from the Inquisition and sought out the nearest Inquisition recruiting station.

The Grand Inquisitor quickly heard that the legendary officer Darrus was joining the Inquisition. He immediately put him into a position where his skills and knowledge would be most useful. That position being the commander of the the Inquisition Falcons, the unit in charge of internal security and secret police duties. His knowledge of civilian affairs and civil protection protocols and tactics made him the natural choice for this position. Darrus also greatly enjoys his position, appreciating the freedom and resources at his disposal as opposed to when he was with civil protection. Civil protection, especially Praetor Gavorn, considers him a traitor both the Civil Protection as well as to the people of the Imperium. This has only gotten worse as his operatives, the Falcons, have been getting into conflict with civil protection officers.

Darrus is the epitome of "The ends justify the means", this belief has been with him since his civil protection but only now is He able to truly back it up. As an officer, he was more than willing threaten and physically attack those who he thought had important information. If it paid off in the end and lead to an arrest, He'd be able to sleep easy. As the Falcon commander, he is willing to kidnap, interrogate, and Even torture those who may be potential traitors or criminals. He has no qualms with what he does and feels that everything he does is justified when his operatives uncover a plot or prevent a crime. Darrus also greatly cares for his operatives as well, always being willing to take the heat for any botched operations and never lets his operatives take blame from the media.

Darrus' wears a custom neoprene uniform with a grey coloration. Over this He wears thick armor padding and a ballistic vest. His Helmet has multiple vision modes and built in respirators and eye/ear protection.

Darrus specializes primarily in urban and close quarters combat. His primary weapons being a customized Magpul FMG-9, a foldable 9mm submachine gun, and an M4 super 90 semiautomatic shotgun. He is also a black belt in judo and Juijuitzu martial arts, Often combining the two in order to quickly and non lethally disable any attackers.

Kuros is likely one of the most intelligent people within the Inquisition, both tactically and academically. As a child, his parents held nothing but the highest expectations for him and he strived to exceed those expectations. His parents only sent him to the highest level academies and schools, all of which he became valedictorian in his classes. When it came time for Kuros to join the military, both he and his recruiters felt that his intellect would be wasted outside of intelligence. He would eventually become an intelligence agent for Litan Special Operations forces, as well as mission support for some of the highest tier units. After 8 years of service, kuros decided to pursue a position in government but was unsure what to do with the skills and intellect that he had.

The grand inquisitor soon came across Kuros' file while trying to find someone to command his intelligence unit. Finding the young Kuros at a reception desk at the Litan Defense Agency, he offered the young man a much more prosperous position within the Inquisition. Seeing this as an opportunity to further himself within the imperium, Kudos accepted the grand Inquisitor's offer. Now he acts as the head of Inquisition intelligence, having eyes and ears everywhere and keeping the Imperium updated on foreign and domestic affairs.

Kuros is an extremely arrogant individual who genuinely considers him to be superior to his colleagues, save for the Grand Inquisitor. He is also a very cunning and opportunistic man, he is always on the look out to further increase his standing.

Cormac originates from the isle of Landt and was one of the original members of the "patriot" faction within the order of the Knights of Landt. After the schism, Cormac continued to serve with the Knights and alongside Litan army soldiers. One mission where Cormac and several Aillari Lyriite weavers were hunting a group of Blackstones, Cormac and his knights found themselves overwhelmed by the black lyriite users and saw death as inevitable. The weavers told him that They could imbue him and his men with the power necessary to combat these warriors, and Cormac agreed. The weavers imbued him and his group of knights with the power of yellow lyriite, the only lyriite capable of disrupting the power and magic of other lyriite strains. Cormac and his newly empowered knights defeated the Blackstones and became well known throughout the Imperium for their abilities. Well known enough that they gained the attention of the grand Inquisitor.

Kaetus approached Cormac and tried to appeal to his views as a patriot knight, asking him if he wished he could better serve the Imperium. Cormac said yes and kaetus offered him a position within the Inquisition, to which Cormac refused and stated that he would be abandoning his duty and his fellow knights. Kaetus then deceived Cormac, stating that he too was a knight of Landt and held the same views yet he felt that serving the Imperium was "More important than looking pretty for the Litan nobility." After several days of reconsideration, Cormac contacted Kaetus and accepted his offer. Kaetus then made Cormac the commander of a new unit of the Inquisition, dedicated to defending against lyriite based threats.

Cormac is a very honorable man, as is typical of a Landt knight. This fact alone sets him apart from much of his fellow inquisition commanders who see him as a naive old fool. Cormac also genuinely wishes to protect the people of the Imperium instead of subjugate and terrorize them. As a result, he and commanders Vickers and Darrrus are often at odds for the formers bloodlust and the latters paranoia.

Cormac, like his black swans, wears heavy neo steel plate armor covered with shadow sap. This armor is strong enough to resist high caliber bullets, powerful energy blasts, fire, and shrapnel. He also has padding underneath to protect against shock from blunt and explosive force. His preferred weapon in battle is a neo steel Zweihander, which he can wield with high degree of skill. Despite being in his mid 50s, his continued martial training has kept him in excellent physical condition to the point that he can still use his equipment effectively. He is often seen as the second best swordsman in the Imperium, behind the grand inquisitor.

Cormac is also a yellow lyriite user, giving him the ability to disable lyriite and magic based abilities. He is able to utilize this ability in multiple ways ranging from release an ability disabling energy blast to bring inherently resistant, and immune to some, to magic and lyriite based abilities. He also had his armor and Zweihander imbued with yellow lyriite, enabling his armor to only further shield him from magic and his sword to break through magic defenses.

Yoko comes originally came from Tokyo, Japan as the daughter two well known surgeons. She decided to enlist with the JSDF in but was dishonorably discharged for murdering a JSDF soldier who had raped a young girl. She was disowned by her family and like many, she went to the Imperium for a new life.

She chose to enlist with the Litan Foreign legion, serving as a medic and seeing action on Pantora and during the High Dragon Emergence. She distinguished herself and bypassed the usual 4 year rerequirement for citizenship. She would then go on to quickly rise through the ranks and become one of the highest ranking members in Litan Medical Command (LMEDCOMM). She almost became in charge of all Pantoran military medical operations before Kaetus reached out to her and offered her a position in the Inquisition. She accepted his offer became commander of the Inquisition Medical unit, the Starlings. While she spends a majority of her time coordinating the starlings, she does still go into the field very often. Yoko is responsible for the development and creation of much of the Imperium's biological and chemical weapons arsenal.

Yoko is a very cold, aloof, apathetic, and calculated individual. However she does display a rather discomforting joy when dealing with matters relating to microbiology, chemistry, virology, and medicine. She admits that she is much more comfortable when culturing deadly strains of bacteria than she is dealing with humans. She also has a very disturbing view on other people, seeing many as little more than breeding for her bacteria and viruses. She does know when to keep such thoughts to herself, such when operating on wounded soldiers. Due to her apathetic nature, human suffering is of little to no concern to her. Viewing painkillers as a mere waste of medical resources and a luxury that she feels that many don't deserve.

She also is lyriite user, her specifically using the biomancy powers of blue lyriite. She posssess the same healing abilities of the Aillari flesh menders, however, unlike them she cannot dull pain and when she will actually cause pain to those she is healing. Those with broken bones will them snap back into place, lacerations will feel as though they are being violently pulled together, amputations will feel as though they are being jammed back into place.

Erimond was born as the second son of the legendary ace pilot, Corvus Erimond. Wallis came to idolize his father and sought to follow in his footsteps by becoming a fighter pilot in the Litan air force. Lying about his age, Wallis became a fighter pilot at the age of 17 and was thrust Into combat during the Arashi war. Wallis became famous among the Litan Air Force, being seen as one of their best ace pilots with 107 confirmed kills. This would eventually lead to him becoming a member of the Litan Barons at the age of 24, a squadron of some of the best fighter pilots of the Imperium. During one engagement, his squad leader was shot down and Wallis quickly assumed command and coordinated his squad and eliminated the enemy. This earned him both command of his Baron squad as well as commendation, however this was not where he gained the attention of the grand inquisitor.

In 2021, the final Arashi base was suspected to be located on a small island in the atruscus cluster. An aerial reconnaissance mission was planned to obtain intel on the base's size, location, and defenses. Wallis volunteered and on the next day he was in the air and flying to the Island. During the mission, his jet was hit with an anti-aircraft missile and he was presumed dead when it crashes. In reality, he survived the crash and continued his recon mission on foot. He completed his mission, gathering essential intel on the base as well as sabotaging defenses that would hamper attempts at an assault of the base, and flee back to Litan territory in a stolen Arashi jet. The operation was a decisive Litan victory and he is accredited with its success. One day when he came home, the grand Inquisitor paid him a visit and wished to make him a proposition.

Kaetus commended Wallis for his actions and asked him if he was satisfied with his position in the air force. Wallis admitted that he was getting rather bored within the regular military as he really only joined to do better than his father had done. Kaetus offered him command over the Raven unit and promised him both a much more exciting career and access  and command over the most advanced fighters in the Imperium. Wallis quickly accepted and assumed command of the Ravens the next day.

Erimond is has a very arrogant and high opinion of himself and his skill as a pilot. Calling himself the "King of the skies", and his combat record does give him some ammunition for this claim. He also quick to challenge anyone who questions his skills at anything that he claims to be highly proficient in. Despite this, he does know what things he should leave to others and stay in his areas of expertise. He also has a bit of a maverick and daredevil streak that He even had during his time in the air force. Meaning that he has a tendency to stray away from established plans in favor a, usually risky or unorthodox, plan that may or may not be successful.

His signature aircraft is an experimental stealth fighter jet capable of achieving speeds of mach 6.5 as well as remaining undetected by most forms of radar and aircraft detection.

If there was anyone who could rival Aurelian when it came to patriotism, Carius Verand would be that person. Verand was affected by the Imperium's propaganda at a young age, being raised by two Inquisitors. As a result, he already had a desire to join the Inquisition as a soldier. He had decided that after his service in  the Army, he would volunteer to join the Inquisition and become a Blackbird. His parents managed to pull some strings and had him sent to the Litan Officers Selection Course and during training he excelled during leadership courses and became both the soldier and student leader of his training cycle. Thanks to his achievements in training he entered the mechanized infantry as an Ensign first class but quickly jumped to lieutenant upon entering his unit. He would see action during the Arashi War, high dragon emergence, and the ongoing Pantoran tribal war.

Verand quickly became famous during his time in the 7th Mechanized, being known as a skilled tactician and excellent leader. He showed great skill in commanding soldiers and armored units, even against those with a numerical advantage against him. His most famous examples being when he commanded  a group of four G-4 Wolf IFVs and one M39 Hyena and managed to defeat 27 Arashi Type 4 Light tanks and one Lion Heavy tank during the battle of Oasis, all without losing a single vehicle. He is also held in very high regard by his men, due to him always putting himself on the frontline alongside them and always putting them and their needs before himself. He came to enjoy the military and planned to stay in much longer the originally planned 8 years, and would end up serving another 10 years and reaching the rank of Brigadier General. He would also be given command of the 21st Mechanized infantry brigade, which he would lead for another twelve years.

Verand never forgot about his original goal, which was to join the Inquisition, he was just simply sidetracked by his success in the Litan Army. He contacted the grand Inquisitor and requested to join the Inquisition. Kaetus was shocked and pleasantly surprised that Verand was willing to put aside his successful army career and join the Inquisition. When Verand told him that he wished to be a Blackbird, Kaetus refused and said he would give him a position that would best use his leadership skills. Kaetus then appointed him over two units instead of one, the Kestrels who served as field commanding officers and Eagles who maintained troop morale in battle. Verand felt that this would make his parents proud and agreed to the Grand Inquisitor's offer, much to the dismay of High commander Valerius whom he become friends with.

Strict doesn't even begin to describe Verand. He expects only the best from his officers and condemns anything less than that. He is very professional and disciplined, often making people uncomfortable with his mannerisms that would seem common in a military environment. He also expects perfect discipline from his soldiers and is more than willing to correct any deficiencies himself if he finds any. Despite this, he does have a less harsh side to him. He is known to cut back on the strictness when he is dealing with his men. He tries his hardest to always remind him that behind his rank, he is still a fallible human. He also assures them that they can bring up any issues they have with him or in general and he will personally speak to them in order to help fix the issue, and he has kept up on this promise.

When in the field, Verand stays close to the frontlines in his custom armored mobile command center. It features numerous features inside to allow Verand to coordinate his forces on the battlefield, ranging from: deployable drones, cameras, Satellite uplink, powerful radios and communications, and a holographic table capable of displaying the battle in real time. It also possess troop carrying capacity, capable of carrying 12 soldiers just inside the passenger bay. It also Has heavy armor plating and multiple countermeasure systems for protection. There is also a spot for four places for litters and medical supplies, allowing it to act as a heavily armored ambulance. As it isnt made to be a fighting vehicle, it lacks heavy armament and relies on other vehicles for support.

While Verand is usually in the safety of his mobile command center, he does sometimes leave it's armored hull for various things. Sometimes even dragging wounded soldiers inside and taking them to the medic inside. When caught by the enemy, he utilizes the Falx Developments HO-2 blaster pistol for protection. This deceiving small pistol has stopping power equivalent to a .44 and an effective range of 75 yards. The armor he wears, while worn more as a symbol of rank, is capable of resisting medium caliber rifle rounds and shrapnel. Due to an injury sustained in combat, Verand is "supposed" to use a cane. Instead of normal cane, he uses custom made cane that acts as a sheath for a carbon spring steel sword and a push dagger hidden in the handle.

While he is still a physically and mentally strong individual, Verand is out of his physical prime and could still be overwhelmed by a younger opponent.
