The Obterlaischian-Ackenburgian War

Duke Karl II (ruled 1283-1321), also known as Karl the Conqueror, saw the potential of the duchy. He started building an army, consisted of infantry, cavalry, and archers. He also made royal guards armed with halberds, double curved bows, and full plate metal armor. After years of building and training an army pay off with a strong army. With a strong army, Karl II plans to invade a neighbouring duchy. His advisor, suggest him to invade Ackenburg, a duchy with a vast iron mine. Obterlaisch got most of its metals from import, because of that Karl II agrees.

Although Ackenburg was rich in iron, they never use it to its fullest potential. Their armies were ill-equipped and untrained and the royal family was corrupt. Due to this, it makes sense to attack Ackenburg. The General of the Army, Freckelin Vasselheim, have also developed a tactic, which is semi blitzkrieg.

War was declared on 8th of June 1291. The Ackenburg a were caught by surprise and was invaded rather quickly. On June the 12th the Battle of Graedonia Plains started, the Obterlaischian army consisted of 5.000 men while the Ackenburgian consisted of 10.000. Although outnumbered, the Obterlaischian army won due to successful tactics, good training, and well equipped soldiers. On June 21st, they laid seige on Ackenburg. The seige would last 1 month, due to minor foreign support. Finally, Obterlaisch gained victory and sign a treaty.

Obterlaisch annexed Ackenburg and the victory result in the 1st Obterlaischian Golden Age.
