List of the Historical Rulers of Silver Commonwealth
Seal of the Silver Commonwealth
As SC is a totalitarian republic, or rather a collection of totalitarian republics, change of leadership has traditionally been slow, and unless something unexpected happens, leaders can remain in power for a long time. In fact, leadership has mostly changed little since the foundation of FAE - only a few President-Governors have been replaced.
Those people... Well, they are the forefathers of the FAE (Commonly referred to as the Second Founding Fathers), and by extension- of the Commonwealth as well. In past, they had a status of national heroes, and there was a personality cult around them, but after the ''thaw'' period, where politics started to shift, and many of the ''dirty laundry'' got exposed, they slowly lost their status, and are currently scattering the dust of history, as they are only historical persons now. However, their legacy still hasn't ended, and perhaps they will experience a boost of popularity in future as Old Guard has regained the say? Who knows. However, one thing is known for sure - if their successors wouldn't change, then we would have no future whatsoever.
Reformers
IC POW: "Those governors might not have been the most popular in their lifetime, as it takes a lot of guts to reform the system, like in Đổi Mới program, but current generations need to thank to them, because without them, FAE perhaps would follow the fate of RNGOC, and Russian Empire." (That said, it is more likely that the reforms were rather out of seeing how deep in swamp SC had actually been driven by previous leadership, and after the reformist period SC has slowly retaken its totalitarianism, with latest reforms being more about modernization not liberalization of its rule. Also, it is not like reformists were good persons either, and their reign is still full with dark periods just like SC's politics in general).

Recently, Kian Kirk has brought them back as spirits, however, with help from occultists, in a spiritualist ritual. Their abilities to interact with surroundings are fairly limited, and they can't be killed. However. they can be made to fade away, or sent back to their world.
A human in spirit form. (Used only as an example - former leader spirits look similar to that, what they were irl, but mixed with this.)
Early life
Luz was born in a poor, rural family, in the Mexican countryside. However, he was gifted with good intelligence, so he was taken to city by the Party's officials, in order to receive better education. He practically lived in boarding school all the time, although he visited his family a few times in summer.
He met with SC's tough university system, when he was 18. He studied economics, but he never completed studies fully, and later on worked in factory at first, but then - as an accountant in a government's building. He partially also worked in a street shop.
Policies
Luz was also a good diplomat, and tried to fix the issues between FAE, and Central America - before Luz took power, relations between two branches had worsened. Luckily, Tom agreed for negotiations, and in result, Luz slowly managed to improve relations.
Also, during the rule of FAE, Central America pretty much had degenerated in de facto Party's corporate rule. Unlike some other local party members, Luz was ready to make concessions for the workers, and installed a bunch of policies, which protected from corporate power to some extent. However, at the same time, he tightened nationalization of corporations, and merged them into state owned mega corporations. (Basically, owner of a megacorp usually is a Party's, or Army's member)
Actions like those required a political reform as well, of course, and there was even a small insurgency, which got named as ''Second Cristero War'', in which Party's members, who were against reformist policies, tried to topple Luz, but he managed to beat them back.
Later life, and death
Luz liked to eat a lot of red meat, so doctors warned him to stop doing so. However, he limited his consumption of it only later on, when he was about 40-50, and bad cholesterol started to become a real issue. Despite that, he could still be seen often around with a cup of tekila - this was one of his habits, which he wasn't really able to quit.
Luz Velázquez ruled for about 13 years, and although there was a megacorp attempt to assassinate him, he survived, and died in 2040, from natural causes. He was buried with honor in Mexico City.
Legacy
Luz's policies paved the way for SC's economical model - state labor unions, and state megacorporations at the same time, Luz's belief, that ''SC can create a synthesis with socialism'', eventually took off in the rest of Commonwealth, although it was met skeptically at first.
However, one of Luz's support bases, and followers were actually the farmers, who received extra subsidies during his ruling time. Scientists also support him, as he also spent a lot of money for medical, and weapon research too.
Tyrone was born in Perth, and as his parents themselves, and family as a whole had generational traditions with politics, it was logical, that family had expectations, that Tyrone would be a politician as well.
He also took a course in politics in university, but he didn't fare that well, and his father was disappointed about the results. Later on, he became a member of the coast guard, and tried to pass the exam again - this time, it was successful. After that, he worked in the coast guard for a while, but soon he wet to work for a news agency instead. He often didn't fear to cover topics, which were pretty controversial.
Policies
Tyrone created a prototype of a base in a nuclear power plant. In his lifetime, this idea was laughed at, mostly because of the possible catastrophic consequences, if a plant would melt. However, in future, Stanley managed to improve his design, and listed him as ''co-author''.
Similarly to Swanson, Tyrone had pan-nationalist ideals. However, he wanted to create a something different - Australasian Confederation. So, he created a ''collective nationalism'', which, in his opinion, ''could help to set the cultural differences aside, and work for a common goal.'' Just like Swanson, he never saw the realization of his idea in real life, because when he died, war between three superstates was still raging on.
He also favored syndicalist economics, and wasn't fond of capitalism at all. However, he wasn't fond of communist model either.
Later life, and death
Although Tyrone was impeached, he still didn't lose interest about politics, and was active in them. He also had a lot of supporters, particularly in Western, and Central Australia. However, he also tried to keep his head down.
Anyways, in 2021, a car hit him, and driver drove away from the accident. Although it is generally agreed, that it was an accident, some conspiracy theorists have said, that ''traffic was way too slow for an accident''. However, most of the people, and even some of his biggest supporters, believe, that it was simply an unfortunate accident. Many of his supporters also visited him in his funeral.
Legacy
Tyrone did leave a significant impact on Australasian Confederation, and his strategy of ''collective nationalism'' was later put in practice in Philippines - People were taught, that ''although there are many differences between us, our end goal unites us.'' Also, later on his plan about nuclear power plant base was realized under Stanley, which also installed most modern defense systems available. Officially plant is ''closed'', due of ''lack of uranium'', but in reality, it is fully operational.
Tyrone also has a lot of supporters in New Zealand, due of the fact, that he helped them a lot during his rule, perhaps even more so than for Australia itself.
Trenton was born in Newfoundland, but his family moved to Toronto, when he was 4, and mostly lived an average citizen's life, until he started to study politics. As it was mostly filled with Party's propaganda, his views were more concentrated on unity, and ties with FAE. He saw cultural ties with European Frontier as ''useless'', and later on would try to start somewhat similar to a cultural revolution.
He also was an underground member of youth socialist wing for a while, but then he went to the opposite side, and betrayed his former allies. However, some say, that he never abandoned some tenets of socialism himself.
Policies
One of his target was royalists - although they were weakened, they still had a relatively strong presence in Canada. Trenton ordered to exterminate any possible resistance, and often performed raids in royalist houses. Partially, it was also one from the new directives from FAE itself - its government wasn't too fond of royalists either.
He also enacted draconic laws in the East - a Canadian province, in which most of the Francophone population was located. He declared English as only official language of Canada, and also suppressed, and executed many disloyal Quebecois. However, his successor cancelled some of his previous laws, and French became an official language in the East again. However, his successor still tried to look around for potential dissent.
However, at the same time, he also was an active proponent of the decentralization model - he thought, that ''it would help to allocate resources better''. He also wasn't that fond of FAE's rule either.
Later life, and death
Trenton was described as ''one of the most capable men'' by Carter, and often participated in charity as well. Despite that, his iron fist character still left a partially negative image in the eyes of citizens - not exactly because of that, but because he used it in order to severe the ties with British, and move towards FAE, as back then, Canadians still felt closer to the Britain.
Like Swanson, Trenton also died due of an illness. But unlike Swanson, who fought a long battle against it, Trenton got taken out rather by a surprise - he was reading a document in his room, when he suddenly started to feel cold, although it was summer back then. He managed to call a doctor, and other members of the Party hoped, that he would recover, and be back again after a few weeks. However, fever turned into a hyperpyrexia, which eventually took away Trenton's life. He got wounded a few days before that, and probably got an infection through the wound, but he didn't pay that much attention to that back then.
Legacy
Unlike some other SC's reformers, Trenton's legacy is viewed in a typically more negative light, especially between the few remaining royalists. His successor tried to repair the old ties with British, and slowly move away from FAE, and angered Tom in the result. However, eventually he was forced to do the same thing as Trenton did, because Tom threatened to cut the support to Canada, if he would do otherwise.
However, his support for decentralization model is a thing, that saved him from falling into a completely negative image - under that model, Canadian provinces had even more autonomy, and were able to form cautious ties with the Federation.
Passos was born in São Paulo, and in his childhood, he often visited Amazon rain forests.
He went to a religious school, so he also received religious education, along with normal education. However, later on, he still would turn out to be one of the reformists, although most of his teachers were for keeping the current direction, and mostly were from the conservative Integralist wing.
He worked as a clerk, before he got elected by the Party in Party's elections. At first, he was surprised, that he even was picked, but then he started to put reforms on the table.
Policies
One of Passos achievements is the improved Pan-American relations. He also ordered to build an extra part of the road in Panama, in order to connect both Americas with a road lane.
Passos also established self-governing native regions in South America - partially to decrease the burden of ruling over places such as Amazon Basin, and partially due of his respect against indigenous peoples. In fact, later on, Carter inspired from Passos in his ''Native Land act''. At the same time, many of the Latino governors were given more autonomy as well, so it could be said, that it was a reconstruction of system as a whole.
Similarly to Trenton, he purged the remaining Brazilian royalists. However, he was a bit more lenient, and rather focused on reformation of the system as a whole, by allowing some from the left wing to participate, and gradually abandoning anti-socialist stance. Still, after his death, things became a bit harder for socialists again, as some of the more conservative Party members regained their power.
Later life, and death
Although Passos was well liked between many people, there were also many, which hated him, primarily the more conservative members of Party, who disagreed with his reforms, and those, which were against his Native governance act. There were many assassination attempts against him, but most of them were prevented.
One of them turned out to be lethal, though. When he was giving a speech in Plaza Bolívar square, Peru, an assassin from the crowd put out an AMT Hardballer pistol, and shot him from the back. Although guards, and crowd itself put assassin down quickly, Passos was already seriously injured, and died shortly after. Some say, that his last words were ''May God have
mercy on such a coward's soul!''. Later on, assassin was sentenced to death, and it was found out, that assassination was linked to conservative members of the Party. However, all of the conservative wing wasn't purged, because assassination was planned by a single group of people, not the wing as a whole, and some of its members were shocked about the assassination.
Legacy
Passos is well liked between Indigenous peoples of South, and North America, due of his Native governing act policies, which put more power in their hands. Also, Passos as a whole helped SC to become more lax against Indigenous peoples, and this model eventually spread into the rest of the Commonwealth. Local Latino governors also were granted more autonomy, which appeased them as well.
He is also liked a lot between common people, and in Party, due of his populist rhetoric. Even most of his opponents respect him, and were shocked, when he was shot. Passos successors want to make sure, that his policies are continued.
His reforms on Integralism shook not only the local parties, but SC's system as a whole - they started to move further away from the right, and now described themselves as ''syncretic''.
He was born in Wilderness town, in a religious middle class family, so religious values were taught to him, when he was a little kid already. However, religion wasn't that important to him, and he wanted to rather get into the military, just as many other young people in his age.
In university, he studied law, however, and wanted to be a lawyer. But he was conscripted in the army, and served a long time into the African front. When he returned back, however, he started to work as a lawyer.
Later on, Rynold started to meddle into bigger politics, and with help of political alliances, backstabbing, and cold-bloody behavior, he managed to get his way to leader's position in leader's elections, when previous leader died.
Policies
There was an urgent need between a direct transportation network between Cape Town, and Luanda, in order to transport troops better. Not only that, but railroads also had to be repaired, because they were in a dreadful state, when Rynold started to work on them. It could be said, that repairing the railroad was harder, than building a new line. However, under Rynold, work went well, and railway lane was repaired, and completed 5 years after the work was started.
He, similarly to many other governors, sought to reform the current Party's condition, and supported syncretic policies. Syncretics were a faction in South Africa way before Rynold, but they really took off only under his reign. Also, his support for paramilitaries helped him to hold into power as well. In the end, though, they were also his downfall.
However, there was still growing discontent with Rynold's actions in the government, and a group of generals and officers, along with Party's old guard, and a few paramilitary units, planned a coup against him, in order to stop the reforms, which at this point seriously challenged the South Africa's previous system. Rynold managed to flee the Cape Town for Namibian deserts, but coup participants had already taken over, and he continued to hide in Namibia, until he made a contact with a few units from FAE, and convinced them to aid him at counter coup, because amount of his reform supporters still was high. Basically, counter coup happened with the blessings of Supercomputer Tom.
Later life, and death
Despite his impeachment, Rynold was the one, who laughed the most in the end - later on, a group in the Party, which was a follower of Rynold's ideals, seized control, and even invited him back to being ruler again. Rynold refused the offer, because he didn't want to be a ruler anymore, but still remained as an advisory of the government, and with his power, he theoretically was the actual leader anyway.
Rynold died from natural causes in 2035, in Cape Town. Some say, that in his late years, he, along with his friends, extensively played a card game, named Klaverjas, and that he had almost no interest about politics left.
Legacy
Although Rynold ruled only for 8 years - the shortest period from all of reformers, his influence wasn't small either - for paramilitary commanders like Adiel, he was a stepping stone towards more power. He also improved the infrastructure of South Africa, and put money into other public works.
Renier mostly portrays Rynold in neutral-positive light, although he criticizes him a few times as well. However, Rynold is less liked between the populace of Native Africans, and even Renier's African partners in the north, and South Africa itself dislike him.
Carter was born in Rhode Island, from where he studied agriculture at first, but later on he was offered a place in Party's reformation wing, due of his accomplishments - back then, SC was already undergoing a process of reformation, and Carter supported the reforms.
Of course, he also got conscripted, as another fight broke out in disputed zone, but there he saw, how catastrophically bad the FAE's army was. When he returned home, he also was faced with the devastating effects of low literacy rate. He promised to ''make sure, that most of the children in SC can read, and that army isn't just thrown into the meat grinder''.
Policies
One of the first Carter's policies was to fix the horrendous state of SC's military - in this case, Supercomputer Tom helped a lot. Brand new officers were recruited, while corrupt, old military structure was being replaced. Of course, it took many years, and army reform was completed only after Carter was dead already, but in the end, it was one of the things, that tipped situation in favor of SC. He also completed the regional reform in USA, finalizing the ''state merging'' policy, which was a policy even before the Carter's rule, but was completed under him. End goal merged the 48 mainland states into 9.
His mass literacy campaign was also one of his biggest accomplishments - work productivity increased in the long run, as literate workers were more productive workers as well, and society couldn't just run well with only farmers. Of course, he still kept an iron fist approach in terms of allowed literature. He also funded space program as well, because ''He understood, that SC couldn't survive on Earth forever, and that it would eventually need to expand in space, or collapse.'', according to Tom's words.
It is highly possible, that without him, reforms would be way slower, and SC perhaps would have fallen into the trashbin of history.
Later life, and death
Carter kept a strong grasp on the country for about 40 years, and was always active in the politics, and ensured, that reforms were actually put in place. Some described him as a ''benevolent king in President's clothing'', while some accused him of being a harsh ruler. However, in his last life years, his position was starting being reduced to a mere figurehead, but Tom took more and more matters in his hands by every day.
Carter passed away peacefully in Neo Washington in 2020. He was able to see the fruits of his reforms, and in a last wish ensured, that new leader from now on will be Tom. Carter might perhaps even be the last human president of America, and SC. (However, almost all the rest of SC is ran by human rulers, and even Tom has a human secretary, which takes some matters in his hands.)
Carter also used his influence later on, to expose the faults of previous party's leaders, especially the first ones, and the fact, that many loyal party members were executed in past due suspicion about dissent. That caused a large scandal between conservative party's members, and Carter's supporters. His period of rule was something similar to perestroika, although not entirely.
Legacy
Carter is often regarded as ''One of the most important national heroes of 21th century'', and his popularity has reached a level of personality cult - there are a lot of his posters on streets, or in houses. He is often regarded as the ''man, who saved SC''.
Due of his reforms in army, he has a fair amount of popularity between militarists, especially new recruits. A lot of the working class people support him as well, due of his mass literacy campaign, and program of trying to improve the working conditions.
It was also considered to put Carter's face on the Mount Rushmore, but in the end, it was decided, that a simple monument will be built in Neo Washington, as Carter himself was simplistic, and would be against it.
Knowledge about his first years is pretty vague, and more info starts to appear only in his study years. However, it is known, that he was born in Norwich, in an upper class militarist family, and that he probably spent most of his school years there.
At first, he studied in army's academy, and wanted to be an aviator, because his parents were aviators as well, and he actually was sent to a squad, that regularly patrolled the straits of Normandy. From there, he saw the other coast - France. After that, he started to become curious, what might be on the other side of the strait. Eventually, he started to grow sick and tired from the war, and wished, that one day, Europe would finally be united again. It could be said, that his time in aviation set the seeds for his ideas.
Policies
One of Swanson's biggest achievements is actually a concept - a federation of Europe. Swanson thought, that ''Together, Europe will be stronger, rather than divided'' (He also is said to be a large fan of phrase ''United we stand. divided we fall'') , and wrote a detailed plan about his federation, including things as army, economics, administration, etc. However, on paper, it would rather function like a ''decentralized confederation''. Although he didn't live long enough, to see his idea realized, it still left an impact to SC's foreign policy, and decisions.
Swanson also was described by Carter as the ''most progressive man in the British Isles'' - he has been described to have some liberal ideas Just as much as SC allows to have, of course. However, Swanson was still pretty conservative, and was cautious about the progress, and he still couldn't be described as a progressive.
Similarly to Passos, Swanson's political reform let a few socialists in the government. Some from the underground organizations became legal party branches, and Swanson made concessions to some authoritarian socialists. However, Swanson wasn't fond of every socialist, and he disliked libertarian socialists in particular, so they still were suppressed under his rule.
Later life, and death
John had fought against cancer for a long time. When he aged, his condition became worse. Once he felt so bad, that he decided to resign from his position. Not only that, but he also suffered from a few smaller illnesses, which weren't that bad on their own, but in combination with cancer, weakened the immunity system in the long run, and hurt the health.
In 2033, Swanson finally passed away, after long fighting on political scenes, skies, and against diseases. His death date was declared as day of mourning by the Party.
Legacy
His ideas, and proposals of the Federation, and united European Army were later on tried to put into practice by Kayden, who often calls John as his ''ideological successor''.
John is viewed positively by a few socialists in SC as well, as they now were allowed to participate in the government. However, those were only a selected few, and most of them remained underground, and staunchly against him. His own party views that decision in a mixed light.
John was also one of the most active supporters for progress, and has earned a fair amount of supporters between the less conservative members of the Party, and has a sizeable amount of fame between other local movements in Europe too. Some from the more conservative members criticize that, though, and there are heated debates about his legacy.
*You found a note from a student*
I had to study about Carter's policies during the history class - that thought was also called ''Carterism'', for some reason. Anyways, Carter was a very interesting person, indeed. Other reformers, though... Meh.

They bear the legacy of the ''reformer'' generation. Whether they have went for bad, or good, they have the mission to build the SC for their next generations. intel about them can be found there.
History (And Party's overview) of the Silverheart world
Silverheart - an ultimate, hellish, worldwide dystopia, with elements from Fallout (Especially NV), and 1984. In its timeline, 20th century was an one big, miserable time to live in, and during the flames of war, any possibility for a different world was destroyed. World wars torn apart the world, and brought it into a seemingly never-ending ideological struggle, where even centrists have become radical! This will focus on the history from PoW of one of the victorious superstates - FAE, or SC, who rose on the ashes of war, and united humanity for the first time in history, largely due of help from various gods and mystical creatures (which exist, unlike in real life), which awoke during SC's rule after centuries of slumber, and now have influence on Tom's realm again..
The Party (sometimes referred to its older, secondary name ''Silver Legion'') is a de iure ruling party in all of the world, although de facto it is split between branches of the Party. It was the only party allowed in FAE (SC now) for a long time, but now socialist factions have gotten into the government too. In the past, it was the dominant force, with other regional forces being mostly subordinated, but with the rapid growth of SC, and with it becoming an extremely wide tent party, it's influence has diluted to the lands controlled by central government, where its cultural influence and heritage can be felt the most, and it serves as a time capsule of a sort (Legion still has members in other Megastates, or even other Commonwealths, but their numbers are dwindling with every year, and most of them are old men already). Of course, Legion's influence can be felt in other part's of SC's world by the local governors, but most of the SC's regions have abandoned most of Legion's heritage, with new factions taking power in other Megastates, like the Great Lakes scientists, or Dixie's Confederates, which are pro-Tomists. (Advocating for secession still can result in death penalty, however) In fact, overall on SC's Earth, the name of the Commonwealth itself is one of the few Legion's influences, which have remained to this day worldwide.

Short history
Various mythological beings and gods from Earth had been active in Silverheart's world for ten thousand, perhaps even more years, and affected the development (or regression) of various human cultures. However, a few thousand years ago, their influence started to vanish, and they all fell into dreamless slumber. Centuries passed, and the old gods and beings became legends, and then - myths. Still, during that period, new mystical beings were created out of human emotions and deepest fears, which waited for a big, big war, which's spilled blood would be strong enough to awaken them all. They waited for thousands of years... And then - The Party, and SC appeared.
The party was formed in 1933, and was against intervening in possible world wars. At beginning, it had not a very big influence in US, but when D-Day failed, and weakened allied troops were defeated by Russian Empire, their numbers grew. Protests against war were a common thing, and leader of party said, that he would exit from war, if he would be elected. Aerial bombings of both UK and US by Russian Empire only made party supporter number to grew even more. In the beginning of 50s, party had enough influence in US, that they launched a coup (Also called as Silver Revolution) against current government, disbanded the congress, and created a new one, called as the Council. Leader of party said, that America will rise to its greatness from ashes again. Constitution also was struck void, and now nothing protected from government's authoritarianism.
A year later, US invaded Canada, while British were busy in defending their home island against Russian Empire. Canadians resisted attack, but US soldiers were too many, and front lines were too long to hold them all off. After a few months, Canada was fallen, and after about month- Greenland as well. Then US occupied Iceland, to have a stepping point of invasion of UK. Finally, after a few weeks, US launched an attack to British Isles. At the same time, Russian soldiers had landed in Dover, and English had to choose- either to fight Americans, or Russians. When US advanced through Scotland, with weak English resistance, English drove out Russians from Dover. Slowly, but surely, US troops advanced towards London. When they reached Liverpool, they offered British to surrender. British rejected first offer, and continued to fight. When US troops reached Birmingham, Leader of US ordered to drop a nuke on Cambridge, to decrease British morale. Then he offered British to surrender, and they accepted offer this time. Shortly after Royal family accepted surrender to US, Leader ordered to kill them all, to prevent their possible threat to his power.
Then US went to occupy the rest of Commonwealth nations. Some nations, like Australia and New Zealand, didn't resisted, and surrendered together with Britain. Other nations, like South Africa and British Raj, refused to surrender, and continued to fight. South Africa was crushed fairly easily, but Raj put up a big resistance, and if Reorganized National Government of China wouldn't have invaded Raj as well, war could last for a very long time.
After conquering all of Commonwealth nations, US leader decided, that his current nation's name is too bland, and changed it to Free American Empire. The he went to conquer the rest of Americas, and last country in Americas was crushed in 1964. Resistance in Falklands, and southern parts of South America continued for a while, though, and partisans were active in rainforest even in the 80s.
When Great Nuke War began, a lot of cities of both west and east coast America were nuked. (Some of them got rebuilt later on, however) A nuke or two hit Canada as well. However, Washington D.C. somehow managed to survive. Regardless, Great Nuke War left traumatic experiences on all three super state citizens.
*You found a note from the Supercomputer Tom*
Bear and Wolf fought against each other. Bear was triumphant, and Wolf was torn apart, and his silly ideas debunked. Later on, Bear and Dragon fought with each other. They thought, that they were going to win. But in the end, they both turned on themselves, and died. And then, Eagle swept across the world.
*Note archived in your device*
After the collapse of other two superstates, winds of change inevitably hit FAE too. Soldiers, along with workers, were starting to strike against the government, and it was forced to adapt more left leaning policies, and actually do something for once. Although Party's symbol still is axe, it has slowly moved towards left instead. Silver Legion has retrained much of its past aesthetic, but it has also changed a lot over the years, sometimes barely resembling the original.
While propaganda often portrayed Father America's reign as ''times of prosperity and success'', it was actually filled with terrible blunders, and catastrophic decisions - fail to stop the epidemic outbreaks, ethnic riots, partisan resistance, and other things. So, reforms were a must, if SC wanted to move forward, because Father America's policy legacy continued even after his death. However, by then, most of the old guard participants of the revolution were quite old, and were starting to pass away. (In fact, the last participant of Silver Revolution died in 2048, just two years before the Scramble for the World began)
Reforms also started the downfall of Commonwealth's ''federal'' system, and a rise of more decentralized system, with more autonomy. At the same time, US states were merged into 9 mega-states, but Canada's- into 4 mega-states. They all gained statehoods in about 2036. (5, if Greater North is counted) Only region, which is controlled by government directly, is Eastern Columbia (Some facilities outside from central government's lands are controlled directly as well, but that's an another story.
After that, an unexpected thing happened - reformers were proudly put in the spotlight, while the mistakes, and failure of previous leaders were exposed, and they slowly started to sink into history abyss as well - for example, while reformer Dawie now is one of South Africa's most important figures, Malan now is just an obscure part of the Party's history program. However, with the Reformist wing, Legion had started to change its face, and the conservative wing protested against it, demanding Silver Legion to ''remain true to its roots''. Also, Party still remains supportive of oligarchy and politicians, and has called the anti-elite crowd or ''drain the swamp'' people as ''edgelords''.
Carter also started a mass literacy program, because literacy rates fell critically low during the past rulers, and something had to be done. It cost a lot, but eventually the funds paid back. However, those reforms weren't out of act of benevolence, but rather more pragmatic, cold viewpoint - if workers are in bad shape, productivity decreases, and state's cogwheel rusts.
Scramble for the World
A Scramble for the World was an event, in which Commonwealth took the advantage of power vacuum, and expanded into disputed zone. In the beginning, the Commonwealth didn't encounter any resistance at all, and just marched into the disputed zone.
But later on, FAE's advance started to slow down a bit- unexpected resistance surprised FAE's soldiers so much, that at first, FAE's troops got driven out from many of the territories. Amount of raider resistance was also high.
But when FAE had adapted to it, it started to advance again. Poor militias, and raider troops were no match for FAE's professional soldiers. In a relatively very easy period of time, FAE had seized all of Africa, most of Europe, and Middle East, and parts of Asia (The trick was that its advance was rather ''driving forwards until fuel runs out'', and it didn't try to consolidate its territories at all during the scramble, and after the scramble they were essentially splitting a land they didn't have control over, and their regional governors had little power at the beginning). Only after its end it started trying to consolidate, split in divisions, and rebuild the land. For that reason, it still lacks de-facto control in large parts of territories outside SC's core, and governors still need high military spending and aid to keep the rebel groups at bay. It also means that SC's regional governors de facto don't control all of their region, which makes it harder for their government to function).
However, then an unexpected happened- the remnants of former two superstate governments merged together, and used all the influence, and resources, to send a large army against FAE's troops. At first, it overwhelmed FAE's armies, just like raider, and insurgent armies did, and FAE lost lots of territory. However, FAE eventually started to push the army back, and after few decisive battles, where almost all army of the remnants of superstates was destroyed, nothing could stop FAE anymore. After some time, it proclaimed, that it had united the world under one banner, and that it was preparing for a space expansion now, using words like ''living space for humans''. However, the spilled blood in Disputed Zone's war caused the awakening of various mythological and cosmic horrors, and various cults/religions have gained new powers (Considering the return of magic, alchemy regained its powers again, and currently various alchemists are being incorporated in SC's science institutes as means to achieve more power for the State). In future, ironically enough, it might be the eldritch, non-human beings, which would lead the SC's space expansion, not the humans themselves. Also, the decentralization model (Adopted by Tom and The Party begrudgingly as unitary rule would bring even faster collapse, and SC has already bitten more than it could chew) and issues on Earth will delay space colonization in further future.
Logistically wise, most hardest parts were the parts of former disputed zone, as roads there were often in bad quality, and it slowed down SC's advance a bit. In former superstate territories, there were at least some relatively good roads, and SC could advance faster there.
One of the last lands to fall was Antarctica. It didn't provide any military resistance, of course, but its climate was the harshest, and it was (and still is) hard to consolidate. There are soldier outposts, it has its own flag, and even a small population, but it still remains rather a territory despite being considered a full commonwealth.
There were various reasons for SC's fast conquest - one of them was the improved technology, and power armor, which let SC's troops to traverse long distances in shorter amount of time. Paratroopers also had a big role, because SC was able to capture large territories behind the frontlines, and before the war, paratroopers also gave a good information about the territories. Another reason was the army's usage of state manufactured drugs like amfetamin- it let soldiers to stay awake for longer periods of time, and move even during the night as well. Also, diplomacy played a big role as well - by convincing regional groups to support their cause, SC managed to advance faster as well.

Any history about period before Scramble for the World, and reform period, should be viewed with suspicion. Party either destroyed, or altered most of the records, so they aren't authentic anymore. Our only hope might be archaeology.

Structure
Until 1954, Party was a single organization, but now it is rather a combination of 7 Region party fractions to make administration easier. However, there were attempts to make a centralized control. They failed miserably of course, considering the size of such a behemoth of a country which had been created.
(As history was written by Party itself, this info should be taken with grain of salt. Did the pre-WW2 era really play out, as described in Party's books? Were the territories of Oceania actually conquered only in the 80s, not 60s? Did Canada fight longer than a few months? Was pre-war UK as bad as Party tells? Those questions are dangerous in SC's world.)
''Russian Empire'' was formed in 1918, as a revolt against the previous Tsar's government, due of its large unpopularity. However, it was empire in all, but name - it was actually ruled by a republican dictator, with a title of ''Immortal Tsar''. (Konstantin Rodzaevsky) For first years, it healed its wounds, but then, it started to carefully expand - at first, in the east, by taking Afghanistan, and intervening in Sinkiang. Ultimatums to Finland, and in Eastern Europe would soon follow. However, after some time, it turned its eyes to the west, and eventually clashed with the Third Reich. A long, bloody fight followed, but in the end, Bear triumphed, and swept across Europe. Allied forces were able to secure only a few holdouts, which would be later on overran by Empire's soldiers, but Empire's fleet was too weak to assault British Isles, and defeat the Royal Navy, so English held out until SC's arrival. However, Empire used the time to conquer last neutral countries in Europe, and invade Iberia. (However, Franco, and Salazar fled to their colonies in Africa, where they held out a bit longer)
RNGOC was originally formed as a Japanese puppet state, but it later on revolted against the Empire of Japan, and it was supplied by Russian Empire. Thanks to that, later on it was able to beat Japanese back, and eventually take the Japanese islands, along with Russians. Its leader was a man with nickname ''Protector of Asia''. (Wang Jingwei) After takeover of Japanese Islands, a lot of former Japanese Army's generals faced trials, and some were executed for war crimes. Fate of royal family has remained unknown even a century later, as Hirohito ''disappeared'' in late 40s. However, it is likely, that either RNGOC's, or Empire's soldiers executed the former Emperor.
However, alliance wasn't mean to last long, because later on, it was broken, and RNGOC started a long, and bloody war against Russian Empire for Asia. Before Great Nuke War started, they fought quite a lot wars against each other, and both started to advance in the Middle East, in order to secure its oil supply. While RNGOC managed to advance deep into Empire's territory, its troops were cut off in Astrakhan, and were destroyed, halting any hopes for quick war. However, Empire never regained some parts of its former territory, like Vladivostok, and southern Central Asia.
For almost over a century, status quo was well kept. However, cracks were starting to appear in the system. Similarly to RE, RNGOC failed to reform, as conservative wing proved to be too strong, but internal dissent only grew - so much, that at this point, even thought police couldn't stop it. Collapse of RE after the worker strike in Balkans was basically a death sentence for RNGOC as well. (During the collapse, some of the nuclear reactors, like Chernobyl reactor in Ukraine, came close to a nuclear disaster, due of lack of maintenance)
Chaos from Russian Empire spread to RNGOC as well, because it had a vast land border with Russian Empire, and at that moment, it was like a powderkeg as well. At first, a civil war broke out between conflicting party wings, and then a chaos ensured. Also, some nukes disappeared in the process. Luckily, no one else has seem to found them yet, and we have found a few of them, and put them back in the stockpile. As for what happened to ''Immortal Tsar'', and ''Protector of Asia'' - the former leaders of other two superstates, we aren't sure - we suspect, that one of them might have died during hunting, and second one might have died from some infection disease.

Prequel
Somewhere at 60s winter, Americans were in war with Chinese for Indian land. They also fought with them in Southeast Asia, and with Russians in Africa. Nukes had been invented a few years ago already, but no one had used them yet, because of fear, that he would be destroyed in return. Since then, only land, air, and sea war happened. However, in winter, relations started to get worse between each nation. In middle of January, diplomatic relations between all three countries went extremely bad, and all countries were at DEFCON 2. Father America said, that ''Nuclear war is an unfortunate thing to happen'', and asked Immortal Tsar for normalizing relations. They managed to call a meeting with each other, but no side demands were satisfying to each other. After failed meeting, Father America in public speech said, that ''Nuclear war is inevitable, and every American must be ready''.
Early bombings
In first day of war, in 7:00, Father America ordered all bombers to take off in the air. About in the same, Immortal Tsar ordered his bombers to do the same. Protector of Asia remained neutral (For a moment). First nuke by Americans was dropped at 13:14 on Porto city. In 13:44, Russians dropped first nuke on Augusta, Maine. In next hours, both Russians and Americans exchanged with several bombings.
Escalation of war
From 19:00, to 15:00 in 2nd Great Nuke War day, bombings were the most intense. About 200 bombs were dropped by Americans and Russians combined, and Protector of Asia also started to nuke several places, mostly that ones under control of Russian Empire. Russians, of course, responded with nuking several places of Chinese territory. However, Protector of Asia also launched several strikes against Americans as well, so they responded him with the same.
Aftermath
Under treaty, All three states decided to officially continue the war, but only in special, selected territories, and no state was allowed to advance past it, or else it would break the treaty. Under Treaty, Americans retreated from India, Indonesia, and Central Africa. Russian Empire and Reorganized National Government of China decided, that Central Asia and Mongolia would be a battleground, and ''disputed zone'' for them. Disputed zone also included Antarctica, and far Arctic. After the Great Nuke war, irradiated beings like ghouls, and various mutated animals had started to arise, and reportedly attack humans. It is rumored, that those events might explain SC's ardent hate towards non-human sentient beings. That said, a lot of them have been hunted down by 2052, and only a few remain. Also, it is rumored that a significant portion of targets during Great Nuke War were actually the bastion territories and cities of resistance, as three superstates realistically couldn't conquer such vast amount of land in relatively short time.

I remember all the air sirens, and bombings, and especially mushroom clouds... If you have experienced this, you know, how much of a haunting experience it was. We got luckily, that we got into our vaults in time, and that enemy didn't had enough nukes to wipe out the whole world.

However, after the collapse of two superstates (Reason remains unclear, but most likely a mass worker's strike), this treaty lost its force. FAE now is looking at the disputed zone again...

Society of SC's core territories consisted from mostly Anglophone people, with a significant minority of other people in Latin America, South America, and Caribbean islands. However, for almost all of them, NewEnglish was supposed to be at least a second language. NewEnglish was a language with restricted grammar, and limited vocabulary. It's every edition was supposed to get smaller and smaller, until somewhere in 2050, only very bare bones would be left from language. However, this project failed eventually.
People usually lacked an everyday necessities, like boots, clothes, water, etc. They were strictly rationed by Party members. Members of party usually were the only ones, which have a good life. There's was (and is) a lot of surveillance, and people could be somehow private only when they were sleeping. People were usually fear mongered by other two superpowers, that could ''Destroy their glorious nation'', according to party's words. Also, people were (and are) quite patriotic. While there is more plenty and offer after the reformist period, ration system is still around, and consumerism hasn't fully taken off.
Leader was a spiritualist, who teachings have been put together in a book, what is called ''Father America's clever quotes''. He not only talked in book about abstract things like religion and spirits, but also about practical things, like economical model. It is one from books in list of obligate literature for children in school, along with books, who criticize capitalism, keep alive nostalgia of old times, and pieces of literature, who weren't censored by government's apparatus. The censorship still remains, despite the increase of works of entertainment as of the latest decades, considering the more free time for SC's citizens.
American society changed dramatically under Leadership of Father America. Land, what once was known as the "Home of the free", now was a totalitarian hellhole. Citizens, who once couldn't even imagine about living in totalitarian society, now had to face the reality, and be very careful. Image of American army also changed- who once were liberators and good guys, now had turned into an oppressor army, who acted like criminals in occupied territories, and were hated in secret by citizens of those countries, which were occupied. Some of those things had changed a bit after reformist period, while others still remained a harsh reality.
As cultural development stopped in 50s, and society froze in that time, because most of effort went to war, people still are listening to old music from 40s or 50s. Old dances, customs, and lifestyle are still common. Also, society had become very traditional. However, the split in ''party'' and ''proles'' had became less used in discourse, as with the slight increase of life standards during reformist period more was required to keep the populace content.

This info is a shameless lie from our enemies! They want to imply, that there was nothing good about FAE before the reforms, and that it should go futher! Okay, alright. There were problems in the past, severe problems. Situation just wasn't so outright bad, as reformer propaganda implies. Or was it?

''Since Father America took over the country, American people morality has been fallen drastically. Now there are messengers everywhere- in your own family, in schools, in workplace, on street, even in your bedroom. It is really hard to find a place, that isn't watched on, and write my diary. But I still remember that times, when America was a free society. People were a lot nicer to each other, and there was less corruption. Ohh, and there was no shortage of goods. Of course, Great Depression was bad, and not every American was ideal back them, but it was surely a better society. Now it is a shadow of its former self.''

History
Early years
Nothing much is known about him, because all records of him from that time are gone. There are rumors, but so far, Party has confirmed none of them.
In politics
His party was founded in 1933, although it is not certain, if he was leader of it back then already. He wasn't very significant in American politics during interwar, and neither during first Second World War years. However, in the second half of 40s, his party became more popular, due of war, who has been lasting for too long.
Coup, and restructuring America
In 50s, he launched coup against American government, and declared a New America. He focused on isolation, rebuilding military, and changing economics. Former liberal and conservative economical policies were denounced, and fascist policies were implemented. Some economists criticized his reforms for being too radical, and against free market, but very few had a courage to do so, and even fever voices reached his government. All other economists were either already in prisons, giving advice to current government, or simply were silent. Purges were a norm, and prisons were filled with people.
Invasion of Commonwealth nations and Americas
However, his isolationist policies didn't lasted for very long, as only year after he ordered to declare war to Canada, and to the rest of Commonwealth nations, including UK. When asked, why he did so, he answered, that the best defense is a good attack. Canada fell after 6 months, and after about one month, Americans were dangerously close to British Islands. When British refused to surrender, Father America ordered to drop a nuke on them. Then they had no other chance, but to sign peace treaty.
A few weeks before fall of UK, Father America already had stationed army near Mexican border. There were also armies in Belize. Shortly after fall of UK, Father America ordered to invade Mexico. It was hard for Mexicans to defend in two fronts. Short after fall of Mexico, Father America declared war to Central American, and Caribbean nations. Most of them fell pretty fast.
Then Father America turned to last unconquered part of Americas- South America. He started conquest by invading Colombia. After that, most of South American nations entered in alliance, to protect themselves against Father America. Father America then ordered to attack alliance, to deal with it as fast as possible. At first, alliance advanced far at Colombia, and American generals were worried, if war will be successful. However, later Americans started to outproduce South Americans significantly, and new conscripts arrived from defeated Commonwealth nations, so Americans had a reserve, to replace dead soldiers. However, South American nations eventually started to lack manpower, and with loss of territory they experienced manpower shortage, and their soldier equipment started to get even more insufficient. At this point, last neutral South American nations launched last ditch attack against Father America, in hope of turning tides of war. At first, they had success, because soldiers were fresh, and ready for fight. But then Father America recovered from surprise, and South Americans started to lose again. At 1964, all major resistance was liquidated, and Father America announced his victory with speech in Rio De Janeiro. However, a few partisans continued to fight until mid 70s.
Great Nuke War
During Great Nuke War, he went to government's bunker, with rest of his staff, to avoid nuclear bombardment. When nuclear war ended, he still didn't left Bunker for two days, until he was sure, that nuclear war was truly over. He also almost always used Geiger counter, to be sure, that there's no lethal dose in path, where he was walking.
After Great Nuke War
After nuclear war, he started to rule even more totalitarian. Fascist policies were already a tenet of America, and soldiers started to use their power too excessive in occupied territories. Shortly after Great Nuke War, 48 states were dissolved, and merged into one- American state. Federal government became all powerful. Alaska was given to Upper America, and Hawaii- to Pacific Frontier. In 1968, one person tried to assassinate him with sniper rifle, in hope to restore democracy. He failed, and was executed. However, the assassination didn't stop the attempts of various groups to try to restore democracy, and fight continued on.
Declassification of documents, and death
After the FAE began its reforms it was revealed, that he was dead a long time ago. However, the exact reason for it remains a state's secret. Some theorize, that it might be due of cancer developed by the radiation. Either way, his memorial is in Neo Washington, along with other first SC's six leaders. He is still used in propaganda, however, just Supercomputer Tom is the main face on posters now. It is also likely, that he wouldn't be happy about Reformist wing's period either and its policies - like repealing the anti-catholic and anti-freemasonry laws, along with letting in some of the socialists in government, or dropping the antisemitism from Party's ranks and official policies.
Although his legacy is still alive, his influence in the country's and society's thought is way lesser now, and his image has recently been damaged by the de-classified documents. So has been the image of his first henchmen.
His image is also found on the Commonwealth Dollars, along with other founder pictures. And, for an example, he is still a pretty popular figure in SC's army.
While his S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats were never measured during his lifetime, there is an unique hologram security guard patrolling in Tom's residence along with others, which looks similar to him during his lifetime, and has a faster firing, reload, and movement rate than other holograms. However, it hasn't got a lot of his own personality, and is just a hologram.
*You found a note from an army general*
This man's image was used by the Party, for tricking us into submission to the state. Nothing much has changed, actually - he is just replaced by the ''supreme'' Tom himself! But I see through Party's lies, and I have also taken my time to read a few books, unlike some other minds in army, and I saw a better world that was once, and what it could have been. But Party took it away from us.
