Doman Advanced Mortar System (DAMS)

History:
The DAMS started in 2002 to provide advanced mortar systems for the Federation Army and later the Navy. Early designs were short barreled mortars fitted to IFV turrets. It wasn't until 2005 that the first viable system was introduced. The DAMS-1 was a double barreled turret that could be operated by a crew of 2.

After success of integrating the DAMS-1 into the army, the Navy ordered a lighter version for patrol boats. And in 2009 the first prototype was designed. A single barreled version of the DAMS-1 was placed onto light ships in 2010. The DAMS-2 could be controlled remotely, and was light enough to be used in more ways than the DAMS-1. From 2010-2015 tests were conducted to see the extent of the DAMS-2.

DAMS-1:
A double barreled turret housing 2 120mm smooth bore mortars. The turret can be fitted onto Tombstone IFV's and Harpy Light tanks. While Self Loading, the turret requires a gunner and a commander. The Commander can operate the system on their own. The electronics of the system include an advanced targeting computer, GPS targeting, Infrared, and night vision sensors.

DAMS-2:
A single barreled version of the DAMS-1 the DAMS-2 is a remote operated system. A lighter turret with the same 120mm mortar allows this system to be far more versatile. It is able to be mounted to IFV's, Light Tanks, Heavy Transport trucks, and the Wave Class Assault Ship. Plans to fit the system on the Type 400 Patrol Boat is underway as well. This system can also be used in ground fortifications and is easily installed in most situations.
