Lussia CTE’s, New Bradfordsburg mourns

LUSSIA CEASES TO EXIST, PROMPTS CONCERN

---SPECIAL REPORT---

The Lussian Queendom has ceased to exist, and Dux Bradford John has reportedly not been the same since hearing the news. The Radiant Chronicle now brings an exclusive report:

By: New Bradfordsburg TRC staff

Dux Bradford John spoke to reporters near the statue of a crying angel at his palace in Samanthalán.

Samanthalán - Dux Bradford John said he was “in a state of shock” after learning that the Former Dáxlamic Queendom of Lussia had ceased to exist (CTE'd) recently.

The gigantic Lussian state had been a member of The Radiant since almost the beginning in 2016, and the country had amassed a population of 8.72 billion before CTE’ing a week ago.

“The Dáxlamic World pauses this week in reflection of Queen Lilly II’s contribution to The Radiant, and to our own faith as a whole,” the Dux said upon hearing the news. “The Lussian Queen is my friend, and as contact with the Lussian Monarchy goes dark, we can only hope that all is alright.”

The Dux’s face appeared grim as he spoke about the news.

“There are things I cannot say, because I have the confidence of the Lussian Queen,” he said. "However, we are gravely concerned about Queen Lilly II.”

The Dux said he would become more worried if Lussia did not regenerate within several weeks.

“If this absence stretches into weeks, or even months, we will speak candidly about the basis of our concern after hearing about Lussia’s ceasing to exist,” the Dux said.

The Council has voted to allow Lussia two months to return, and claim its former map space. Land claims have been halted on formerly Lussian lands as per council vote.

Lussia had survived The War of The Radiants, as an ally of Odinburgh in Radiant Republic, though Lussia was banished by Odinburgh after Radiant Republic was raided by the Dux's forces.

Odinburgh blamed Lussia for aiding the Dux, but eventually regained the trust of Lussia as the war carried on. Lussia was one of several nations to decide upon reunification of The Radiant after The War of The Radiants.

The Lussia Queendom relaxed restrictions on the press after The War of The Radiants, and the monarchy even responded positively to overtures from the Dux to allow the freedom of protest in the Lussian homeland.

Lussia had most recently served as the unanimous choice as Minister of Environment, and had instituted a list of endangered species throughout the region.

The nation was a month short of its sixth birthday when it CTE'd last week.

Some longing for Odinburgh back in top spot

By: New Bradfordsburg TRC staff

Samanthalán - The region remains hotly contested following the election of Castonisia as WA Delegate, and some nations have expressed frustrations the newly elected leader has not been more active.

According to several sources in top government positions, Castonisia has been less active than Odinburgh with regional affairs, including communications with fellow ministers.

At least one official said they would go on record anonymously with The Radiant Chronicle:

“Castonisia being less active doesn’t mean the government is less active, it just means other ministers are forced to pick up the slack. This isn’t what was promised to the region during Castonisia’s campaign. We still want to give them a shot but some have already suggested trying to call another election to get Odinburgh back in there.”

While The Radiant Chronicle protects the identity of sources, we can confirm that the quote above was said by a serving minister.

Castonisia has apologized for the lack of activity, and has stated that stresses of real life sometimes divert attention away from The Radiant.

The Radiant’s population shrinks, but only slightly…for now…

By: New Bradfordsburg TRC staff

Samanthalán - While the population of The Radiant has been anything but stable, it can be said that the overall trend of the region has been geared towards a slight contraction. Dux Bradford John said it’s all a part of the plan.

“I’ve often said that this game is a marathon, and not a sprint,” the Dux said. “Believe it or not, I’ve been playing since 2003 and I’ve learned a lot since that time.”

The Dux said The Radiant is ‘by far’ his largest accomplishment in the game, and he reassured his commitment to the region.

“Some may wallow at times because I am not always instantly available, and I understand, but I am always here,” he said. “Over a year ago, New Bradfordsburg CTE’d. I was going through personal issues and, while I needed the time, I was also regretful for turning away from a community that has my back, through thick and thin. I know now that, no matter what I go through, The Radiant remains a source of great strength in my personal life.”

The Dux said he plans to recruit again this summer, but has recently put a planned drive on hold due to personal vacation time.

“July and June are busy months in my personal life and I travel a lot during this period of time with family and friends,” he said. “I want to be able to commit more time to new nations, because that is what the region deserves. Therefore, a recruitment drive is on hold until later in July.”

The Dux said The Radiant’s population will continue to remain stable, and will remain among the top 100 regions in NationStates, where it has remained for nearly seven months.

Dux responds to Dustin Allen report

By: New Bradfordsburg TRC staff

Samanthalán - A series of “final thoughts” after an interview, offered by a reporter from The greater midwest region, have irked Dux Bradford John.

Reporter Dustin Allen is in the Dux’s hotseat after he accused The Radiant’s founder of being a president “who frequents clubs and answers questions whilst intoxicated."

The Dux, who pointed out that he is a Dux, not a president, said he took offense at Allen’s comments.

“What type of jerk am I? I answer this guy’s questions and he doesn’t like my answers, so he accuses me of derelict of duty?” the Dux said in a press conference in Samanthalán on Friday. “Dustin Allen must have been drunk when he wrote that because he’ll never get another interview from me again.”

Reporters chuckled as the Dux began riffing.

"Also, who uses the word 'whilst?' Seriously?" he said. "Perhaps I should go to the club less because whilst there I had the dumb idea to give an interview to Mr. Allen. Whilst it happened once it whilst not happen again."

"Thinking Out Loud: Why Doesn't NationStates Like The Radiant?"

By: Dux Bradford John

Perhaps I'm being petty and, as many of you know, I'm certainly not immune to that emotion. But, I have to say this...I guess it has been on my mind for awhile...

In the over two years since our founding, The Radiant has never been a featured region. Now, I don't know the algorithm with this featured region business. There are over 22,000 regions in NationStates, and maybe every region has the same chance to be featured tomorrow.

It's been under 1,000 days since The Radiant was founded. Maybe we just have to wait another 10,000 days or so until we get our chance.

But, that doesn't seem right.

The Radiant has been ranked within the top 100 regions in the game for some time, and we've always been a unique and special place, with offerings that enhance gameplay for all involved.

If the decision on which region to feature is arbitrary, I would wonder why we haven't been chosen. I also wonder why The Radiant was ranked a 'moderate power,' but never achieved the rank of 'low power.'

Did we skip all the algorithms in one night? Seems unlikely. I also wonder why The Radiant has not since been ranked a 'high power.'

There are only several dozen regions with the activity and stamina of The Radiant. There is nothing moderate about our level of influence.

While that NationStates ranking makes a mockery of our regional prowess, we must also wonder why many older and game-moderation entrenched nations, with a plethora of puppets and steeped in game play, have avoided our region?

Is it because we dare to be unique? Is it because we have become a self-regulating community?

We, more likely, believe it is because of the perception that our region is a "cult."

On the contrary, nothing could be less true. The Radiant is, and always will be, an inclusive community and Dáxlam is among many faiths in our midst. We wonder if there is a bias?

It is because of long written history, which is impossible to change? Is it because of a long past, which I cannot erase? Is there even a grudge? It's impossible to tell. However, these are the things we wonder when we are thinking out loud.
