RIM/L-Ozone II
Overview
The RIM/L Ozone II is an Australian liquid-fueled, MIRV-equipped, super heavy thermonuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile, in development by ACHEUS - Military Service Provider and ACHEUS since 2012. It is intended to be the country's first serviceable long range missile after several years of experience of joint research between Puertollano and Bendicion as well as several scientists and researchers hailing from several European, American and Russian institutions, agencies and universities.
Characteristics
Its large payload of about 10 tonnes would allow for up to 10 heavy MIRV warheads or 15 lighter ones (350 kilotons yield each) or up to 24 Vector hypersonic missiles, or a combination of warheads and massive amounts of countermeasures designed to defeat anti-missile systems; it was heralded by the Russian military as a response to upgrading the country's ability to protect national security assets.
Ozone II was created from the Ozone AD missile project of the government after the latter was successfully launched in one of several tests conducted.
RIM/L-Ozone II has a short boost phase, which shortens the interval when it can be tracked by satellites with infrared sensors, like Space-Based Infrared System and makes it harder to intercept.
It is speculated that RIM/L Ozone II could fly a trajectory over the South Pole, completely immune to any current missile defense system. It is suspected to have a Fractional Orbital Bombardment (FOBS) capability
Variants
RIM:Ground-mobile launched missiles. Capable of reaching Mach 20 speeds at 8,500km range.
RIL:Silo based missiles. Capable of reaching Mach 20+ speeds at 10,000+km range.
