Landmarks of Arkonos

Description:[/b]"A wall which divides those who are free, and those who choose to keep their brothers and sisters in bondage." These were the words of Emperss Marie upon her visit to the Westion Wall. The Westion Wall is the official dividing line between the Rolesian Empire and the former Kostuan Empire. Prior to construction, the border region was a focus of many Rolesian military investments as it was the only region that was not defended by the Rolesian natural fortress, the Anderfalls. These investments consisted mostly of forts, camps and small border walls. After six years of lobbying, the Duke Elhart Westion was given the resources to begin construction of a Grand Wall to divide the Rolesian Empire and Kostua Sol. As the years dragged on, the wall grew bigger and bigger until it spanned the Rolesian border all the way to the start of the Anderfalls. The Westion Wall is manned at all times by the Legion de Westion, which consists of men and women from the nearby city of Westion, and garrisoned at times by Anderfall Paladins. The Westion Wall has since become a national landmark and symbol of the greatness of the Rolesian people, with visitors from all over the Empire coming to view the colossal structure.   [/box]

[box][center][b]Mindara - National Landmark
Description:[/b] Mindara, though a partially-populated city in south-central Namalar, is more well-known as its service as a symbol of Namarian religious beliefs. The settlement was erected at the foot of the Anderfalls mountains, where it originally served as a Namarian fortification during the early period of settling the Kostuan plains. In time, the settlement’s location became preferred for Namarian scholars and patricians focused on studying the constellations. The earliest history of this time comes from an 67 ATF chronicle, detailing the creation of an ‘Astarum’, an arcane-oriented observatory, at the center of the settlement. By the beginning of the 2nd Century ATF, Mindara had almost entirely changed. The original inhabitants and functions of the city were quickly replaced, and hundreds of minor astarums and orrery-buildings were raised. While some of the sights there are not limited to only Mindara, the concentration of researchers and instruments enabled the formation of universities and Namarian societies dedicated to researching and expanding upon knowledge of the Arcane world.

In the present, Mindara houses many prestigious mechanisms for astronomy, constellations and stellar cartography. Various societies and groups have since emerged with focuses ranging from inspecting heavenly bodies to charting the movement of stars, to discovering the forces behind magicka. Such organizations have often leaned into occultism and are often selective in membership. The city’s population has dwindled, despite the bustling streets. Most work and maintenance of the structures and the instruments they house are done by trusted experts, often enabled by the assistance of Aitherioi servants, who help with maintaining the grounds. Mindara’s existence has become the host of many Namarian traditions and customs all their own, and wealthy, influential Namarians occasionally take trips to the city to serve as benefactors, associate with the various society seats present, and help fund further expansions.[/box]

[box][center][b]Hwangsorui Fortress

Description:[/b] Hwangsorui Fortress is a huge mountainside fortress situated in the valley between the Astrals and the Perennials. Its base is derived from a Kostuan remnant fortress that was captured by Ryeongsean forces, although much of its infrastructure was destroyed at that point; as such, much of the fortress was built from the ground up by Ryeongse, becoming a fitting mirror of Byeolsan’s history.

Established in late 342 ATF, Hwangsorui Fortress is the manifestation of King Won Jangyeon’s ambition to secure under Ryeongsean control the valley, a crucial point of defense of both Ryeongse as well as the Tong Empire. With natural slopes and water on its sides, the fortress’ geography make it impenetrable, while its overview of the land and rivers below give it an excellent defensive view and position. Despite its challenging topography, it still is linked to the kingdom proper, allowing the flow of food, troops, and goods to travel between it and other cities with little impediment, as other cities do with one another. Nevertheless, due to its strategic location, Hwangsorui is relatively more self-sustainable than other fortresses throughout Ryeongse, able to withstand sieges for a much longer time than its enemies theoretically would, given that they would be far from their homeland with a supply line stretched over such a distance.

Within Hwangsorui’s walls include several facilities, fit for such an self-sustainable fortress. The largest and most notable is its own military academy for all subcategories of the army, not as prestigious as the academy in Byeolsan but famed nonetheless for breeding the toughest soldiers. In addition to training grounds and expansive armories, this academy also boasts a large library of topographical maps and records of other nations’ militaries and their histories, aimed at honing not just the fighting skills but also the minds and intellects of Hwangsorui’s cadets. Hwangsorui is also home to a large Gyunhyeongji temple named Kolbujeom Temple, sacred and revered by Ziist monks throughout the kingdom due to its location at the highest populated place in all of Ryeongse. The clergy view it as a sacrosanct locale, where it is said that the heavens are the closest; as such, it is a popular spot for meditation. Hard as it is due to the thin air at such an altitude, the temple undeniably produces and hones the toughest and most steadfast meditators in the Ryeongsean Ziist population. Although many monks come and go to and from Kolbujeom, the permanent clergy at the temple are all high-ranking Mystic Creedsmen, adept in hand-to-hand combat as well as magical spells in order to defend the temple against potential threats.

There are also some farms and ranches that manage to grow a sizable amount of food for the fortress despite the climate, although still falling short of the fortress’ needs, fulfilled by intranational supplements. Interestingly, none of its farmers and ranchers, as well as other occupations within the fortress such as in trade, artisanship, etc. are run by independent civilians; all internal business within Hwangsorui is conducted and run by the soldiers garrisoned there themselves and their families, unlike other military fortresses, which have trace populations of civilians conducting their business there. Unlike many fortresses throughout Ryeongse, which are run by the king and the military with input from provincial leaders, this fortress lies entirely within the jurisdiction of the king and the military. Under their authority, the soldiers and Mystic Creedsmen of Ryeongse train and work under harsh, brutal conditions, sharpening them to be the best they can be to prepare for a day that hopefully will not come, not to merely fight on such a day but to defend the fortress, and by extension the kingdom, victoriously.

[box][center][b]Opal Tower - Landmark

Description:[/b] Originally founded as a regional branch headquarters of the body of Kostuan Imperial Mages, to serve as a constant and domineering reminder of the Empire’s presence, the Opal Tower Conservatory located in the Balismon area today serves as the premier institution and authority for magic on the Alsaran Peninsula. Even before the Sarian invasions of the region, the fall of the Kostuan Empire brought the organization autonomy from their leaders in Kostua proper that had sought to breach the realm of Magic. The residents of the peninsula, despite trying to challenge them due to anti-mage sentiments that arose following the cataclysm brought on by the Imperials, could accomplish little and tenuous peace was found between the general populace and the independent enclave. The next several decades saw a decline in the manpower and reputation of the Conservatory due to those same sentiments, as the idea of sending children off to an institution run by mages did not sit well with the still fractured remnants of the warlords.

With the Sarian invasions some one hundred years later, the Opal Tower was assailed once more and much like before was not taken. But rather instead seeing the inevitability of the whole peninsula falling to the invaders, the ruling Council of Magi came to the conclusion that a unifying authority that the Sarian King Senar offered would only benefit the Conservatory, thus motivating the formation of an alliance between the mages of the Tower and the new Kingdom.

Years later into today, while the alliance has been tested several times by ambitious Alsaran lords and the fracturing of the kingdom to the two sons of then King Charmon, the Tower's authority has remained intact and the mages still retain a place of security and learning for their kind under the protection of the crown.[/box]

[box][center][b]Hongjing Temple
Description:[/b]Located high in the mountains of the Eternals, within the borders of Uyuti, lies the Hongjing Temple. Consider the pinnacle of ancient Uyutahn architecture, the Hongjing Temple was originally built the early 3500s BTF, with a number of expansions and remodels made in the last several thousand years. 
The Hongjing Temple was first built, over a period of twenty-eight years, as Ttsyn's first place of instruction and teaching, as he began spreading Ziism to what was to become Uyuti. Following his death some one hundred years later, the Temple was converted to a regular monastery. Though the building would also serve as the home of the Sovereign Ttsyn on and off for several centuries. As such, the Hongjing Temple remained culturally important not only as a place for Ziist pilgrims to visit in Uyuti, but as a symbol of Ziism in Uyuti in of itself. 

Following the destruction of the Satyagh Palace in Segh during the Great Sundering, the Satyagh was left without official residence and shelter; with the selection of the new Satyagh following the death of the old, it was decided by the highest members of the Ziist priesthood, that the Hongjing Temple be reestablished as the official residence of the Satyagh. Thus, Hongjing had a renewed purpose, surviving as the center of Ziism in not only Uyuti, but the Uyutahn Commonwealth as a whole, and perhaps even the whole of the world. 

The Hongjing Temple has sixteen stories, carved into the side of the Conquer's Teeth subrange. It hosts a number of onsite pagodas, gardens, and thermal bathes. It covers an immense 456,981 square feet of space, covering sixteen stories in total.

The Temple is primarily built from stone, removed from the mountain in to which it is built, but also incorporates wood, gold, marble, iron, fine glass, and other fine materials into its construction. The Hongjing is serviced primarily by the monks that are its regular inhabitants, but also by a number of soldiers specially garrisoned to the Temple by the Uyutahn Legions. The members of this garrison are called ‘Uyantang’ or “Snowy Guards”, due to their white and orange uniforms; the garrison is nearly as old as the Temple itself, with the garrison having been established in 2994 BTF. 
The Temple also has a number of heavy fortifications that have been installed at various periods, the largest of fortifications and fitting having been installed after the events of the Hunger crisis and again during the ‘Archangel’ and Mage Rebellions. Cannons were notable placed in fortifications built around the Temple, all paid for by the now deceased Emperor Cyn in 311 ATF.

The Hongjing regularly houses a contingent of 2000 monks, 400 soldiers, 100 ministers and clerks, and 750 servants. All of which live regularly in the mountain temple year-round, with regular supplies and new personnel being hauled up the mountain to the Temple on a bi-weekly schedule. Following the move of the Satyagh to the Temple as his permanent residence for the foreseeable future, the number of soldiers, ministers, clerks, and servants was increased thoroughly.

The Hongjing is also host to a number of cultural festivals and events, the most notable of which occurs on the night of the last day of the Uyutahn year, in which the Hongjing Temple becomes the host to the Yunqi Celebration. During the end-of-the-year celebration, the Hongjing Temple is subject not only to a great feast, but numerous songs and dancing, but also theater productions, and fireworks displays. These activities do regularly bleed on into the rest of the first week of the year, eventually fizzling out by the second week; the festivities have carried on without fail despite the Temple now hosting the Satyagh as its primary resident.[/box]

[box][center][b]Drohorad Fortress - National Landmark

Description:[/b]Nestled deep into the heart of the central Eternals, controlling the most important road through the Riddenheimian section of the chain, the Drohorad fortress complex has quickly become the pride of Riddenheims Mercenary Companies, acting as their administrative heart. Since the reign of King Achatius, the Zamok fortress in Valken has served well as the unofficial capital of the Companies. The grand expansion has seen the capacity of the Zamok stretched to the breaking point, as bureaucracy and new recruits flooded the old fortress. The Lord Marshal came up with a two fold solution, expanding the existing structure in Valken while building an entirely new Fortress deep in the mountains, better suited to handle the might of the sixteen ever growing Companies. The optimal site was found in what would become Drohorad, a highland with a flat plain nestled between several mountains.     While officers for Companies are still expected to train at the Zamok, Palace Guardsmen, Druzhina Cavalry and Mages are to be trained at Drohorad, along with the most promising officers from the regular Companies. The fortress has become most important to the Lord Marshals own Company, the Axes of Neronov, whose soldiers man its walls and towers. Funds for the fortress come from several sources, most prominent among them wealthy merchants operating out of Valken, trusting merchants with helping to establish such an important bastion marks a turning point in how traditional authority may view the rising middle class[/box]

[box][center][b]The Ancient City of Szaar Tchagom[img] [/img][/center] Description:[/b] Since the Elves' arrival to the deserts and dunes of Southern Sokos, the wisest and most curious minds of Mithranus have pondered the existence of a fabled city that once was home to the Saari's culture and history and was known as the largest city in Sokos thousands of years ago. Despite the relatively new status as a centralized authority on culture, history and knowledge pertaining to the Saari tribes that have roamed the desert plains since recorded time, the Council of Elders seemed divided on the exact location of the Saari's first and last city prior to the fracturing of the group eons ago into the tribes as we know them today. For years, even before the establishment of the Second Empyrium, the question of the whereabouts of Szaar Tchagom was a heated topic for many elders across many tribes and the reason for dozens of expeditions across South Sokos' unforgiving dunes that led to the deaths of hundreds of Saari over the course of centuries. The Saari maintained cities across the area though none were as grand as Szaar Tchagom, if the ancient tablets collected by and preserved by the tribes were to be believed. Towering buildings of vibrant colors, refined and pristine streets and other works of architecture that had been lost so long ago. Once the dust had settled and the Second Empyrium had cemented it's position into Southern Sokos, the Elves put forth their effort to find Szaar Tchagom, to which the Council of Elders begrudgingly accepted. Familiar with digging hard to find remnants of a long gone era of greatness, various authorities on archaeology belonging to the clans that had connections to the Rolesian circles of archaeology were contacted and with knowledge and determination at their back, several elf and human-cooperative expeditions were launched.

With any documentation on the general region of the city's location long gone, Scouring the entirety of the Southern Sokos deserts would take decades. So, as the longest journeys always begin with the first step, they began near Mithranus and widened their perimeters with each inch explored. Thirst, heat exhaustion and exposure plagued each and every expedition that was sent out and many were forced to abandon the search due to deaths on the teams. The lighter variations of Eternalic attire were thrust aside and elves were cloaked in heavy and shrouded robes of the Saari, if only to last a few days longer. As the expeditions were led to the Barrens region, now known as Olaeseithel, many of the Elves, Saari included would choose to abandon the search and instead trek eastward to Yiywa. Others, staunch in their ability to survive the Barrens, pushed forward into the wasteland. With constant resupplies being transported to various checkpoints all along the main roads around Olaeseithel, it helped to increase the chances of survival in the elves and Saari, but death would soon come to them all. Further efforts to explore the Barrens would be halted in the year after due to the arrival of the Seascourge. In 341 ATF, search efforts would resume and by the next few months, a major discovery would be made.

Evidence of ancient roads and aqueducts were found along the coast and by next month, Szaar Tchagom would be found, albeit buried under hundreds of feet of sand. By order of Consuliar Dontassa in late 342, materials and equipment were supplied as workers from the University of Mithranus were hired to begin the process of digging it up. The Council of Elders, now reinvigorated by the discovery of this fabled location, gathered the Saari tribal elders and declared that they should make their way to the ancient city. This summons was hardly recognized by nearly half of the Saari tribes, and those that did hear it only sent what volunteers wished to make the journey.

Despite the less than expected turnout, the numbers that had arrived would be sufficient. Permanent tent cities were arranged all around the find as mounds of sand were displaced per day, shades stretched across the majority of the site with a majority of the work being done during the cold nights by torch and bonfires. By the early summer of 344 ATF, three years after the initial discovery, Szaar Tchagom had been nearly halfway unearthed, with several buildings fully cleared and now studied day and night by Saari elders and scribes.[/box]

[box][center][b]The Royal Society
Description:[/b]The Royal Society, known before as the Royal Academy, serves as the main hub for all scientific, religious, and magical studies in Eskeland, and while not constrained to this single location, since every city has a chapter depending on which subject is most popular, this one serves as the main hub, where only the best can join, either through submitting works of great value or through a recommendation by at least two of the highest ranking members, not including the headmaster.

The current building, called the Leirgard Fortress, began as that, a fortress, build centuries back as part of a project by the then king, to build a series of fortresses to protect the eastern borders. Only three were built of which only one of those is still functional. The second one was abandoned, and the other one, which is the current one, being used, as said before for The Royal Society. After it fell in disarray, by petition to the king, of the then small Fellowship of The Book, the predecessor to the Royal Society, to be granted the fortress to set up base and begin operations and allow them to carry out their work in the name of knowledge. The king agreed and gave it to them through a charter.

In the years that followed, the fellowship would expand, to include other areas of the sciences and eventually through a treaty, the inclusion of religious and magical studies as separate institutions, that contribute to the scientific research any time. With the integration of these institutions came the renaming, from the Fellowship to The Royal Academy, and later through a unified convention and under the presence of the king, The Royal Society. The building is divided in different section each belonging to a different institutions. 

The fortress had to be later on expanded to accommodate better all of the necessary things. The fortress is mainly inhabited by the mages and the religious scholars, who make sure the fortress is kept in good condition, as well as protecting it from any enemies or threats. Some scientist live there, mostly those who work in the astronomy area, but the rest tend to live in the cities and travel when the conventions or exhibitions are called in place.

The left wing is reserved for the mages, a tower stands there, it is where they carry most of their work, although they prefer to go outside to do their most dangerous experiments, to avoid any problems with the rest. In the center and main entrance stands the hall, where everyone mostly gather to discuss anything of importance or just hang out. It is decorated with frescos depicting the different institutions in work. In the right wing lies the chapel and the scholars quarters. The north wing is where most of the facilities are, and it's also where the scientists live and convene for their lectures, but this is not restricted to them, others can come and do their stuff too. 

And lastly, the courtyard, it not only serves as a relaxing place where everyone can go and take some time off and relax for a bit, since there are many beautiful gardens, but also where anything that is too dangerous for the inside can be carried out safely and without disturbing anyone.

Now, while they all act as different institutions, they tend to carry out any work of importance in congruence, one coming out with the hypothesis, another one carrying out the research, and the last one putting it in practice. This is why The Royal Society is one of the most prestigious institution in Eskeland and the most sought out amongst the, knowledge hungry and educated youth.[/box]

[box][center][b]The Imperial Highway
Description:[/b]The Imperial Highway was what carried the lifeblood of the Kostuan Empire to its provinces. The Imperial Highway is the largest and was the most ambitious road network ever designed constructed by a single entity. The Imperial Highway is a vast network of varying roads that cuts across the landscape of Sokos, impacting several of the nations it runs through by connecting them to the trade network, making ownership of these roads extremely valuable. 

Earliest known construction of the Imperial Highways began in 427 BTF and most of the network had reached completion around 270 BTF, the beginning of the recession of the Kostuan Empire. The Kostuan Empire used thousands of slaves in the construction of this vast road network in order to provide a safe route for its troops, merchants and citizens to move across the Empire in both safety and speed. With the use of advanced magic, the Kostuans embedded powerful runes into the stonework in order to preserve the Highway so that it survived for centuries past its construction. As a result, many of the roads remain intact and in good condition. Today it is still the primary trade road of Sokos and the main alternative to shipping goods across the continent.  [/box]

[box][center][b]The Black Spire
Description:[/b]The Black Spire is a relatively new addition to the skylines in the Black Bay. While the Black Spire had always existed, it was little more than a piece of solid rock situated in the middle of the heart of the Black Bay. The Black Spire was raised from far beneath the seas by the trapped Undead God as his influence on our world grew during the Felixtius War. Using a tremendous amount of its power, it raised the Black Spire that could be seen from as far away as the Anderfalls.

 Little else is known about the Black Spire, save that it is a location of a tremendous amount of magical energy, giving birth to things such as the  Aitherioi. Anyone who has attempted to enter the Black Spire have been met with a grisly fate, as upon stepping foot on the rocky insides, they rot from the inside out. Some scholars believe that the Black Spire could be a fragment of creation. Theologians have suggested that it is a place of evil where all misery in the world comes from. Some theorists have suggested that the Black Spire may not be a simple structure at all, but a living entity with a mind of its own, with the killing of trespassers acting as a bodily defence. Whether or not true, the Black Spire has become a permanent fixture in the Black Bay. [/box]

[box][center][b]The Ruined Tower[img][/img][/center]
Description:[/b] In southern Sokos, within the surrounding Redmane Mountains, stands the desolated structure of the Ruined Tower. For centuries, this Tower has represented the greatest sin committed by the Kostuan Empire and its mad Emperor, Cartagia. Built shortly before the Sundering, The Tower was to be a monument to the power and glory of Kostua, even as the Empire fell apart internally. A thousand mages and an entire Kostuan army was prepared for what Emperor Cartagia believed to be Kostua’s final conquest of the realm of magic: Heaven itself. Requiring a good deal of the slave labor and guards to complete the project, Cartagia was completely focused on the Tower, even to the detriment of Kostua. The thousand mages goal was simple: combining their magic power within a valley in the Redmane Mountains, using the Tower as a conduit for the energy, the mages would bring Communion outside of their minds and onto the surface, in a believed “portal” that’d allow Kostua entry within Heaven.

With seemingly all the pieces in place, the Kostuans began the ritual. The ritual seemed stable for some time- the mages began chanting in and around the Tower. As the clouds began to clear and the sky turned red, however, the ritual began to turn for the worst. Yet Cartagia continued the mages on, threatening them with a fate worse than death. In the end, the Kostuans did allow Heaven and Arkonos to emerge- as a chasm, which beamed with magic energy. And with Heaven and Arkonos meeting, Hell was released upon the world. The Chasm began to rip apart the Tower, sending debris and Kostuan soldiers tumbling within- their screams seemingly haunting the land around the Tower and chasm from then on. Those who were not sucked into the chasm instead had to fight the denizens of the fault itself.

The mages, meanwhile, met an even worse fate. Many of the mages seemingly disappeared, leaving all but their robes behind. Elsewise, many of the mages were forced by unknown energies to jump within the fault, their fates unknown. The return of Felixtius however, a Kostuan mage from the Sundering in 304 ATF proved that death was not what many of the kostuan mages received upon their entry into heaven.

The aftermath of the sundering was clear. The Kostuan Empire was over, and the apocalypse would rule over Sokos for a decade. In the end, the creation of the Black Fault was the greatest sin of the Kostuan Empire. Their failure however, might have been for the best, for had they succeeded, it is believed that the Black Fault would’ve been a hundred times larger, and cracked the world in two. No soul roams around the Ruined Tower- no free soul, at least. The damned patrol around it, undead legions of Skeletons and Ghosts of Kostua’s army. While they do not actively and aggressively attack their prey, their defense around the chasm and Tower is guaranteed- for even in death, their loyalty to an Empire is guaranteed. From time to time, the echoing of a legion on the march can be heard in the wind near the tower, almost too quiet and soft to hear beyond the gales, singing the songs of battle of a long dead empire.

 Heaven was left asunder, the world of Arkonos, nearly broken. Kostua was destroyed, their Emperor seemingly disappeared. And while the rest of Sokos would eventually recover from Kostua’s fall, Kostua’s identity would be shattered. While their people and culture continued to exist, their rise to power on the levels of the Kostuan Empire achieved would never come to fruition. Let all who look upon the Ruined Tower see not the strength which Kostua gathered there for the sundering, but the ignorance which caused their own destruction. [/box]

[box][center][b]Nawpa Uma Path
Description:[/b] Nawpa Uma Path, or “The Marshal’s Path”, is an important passageway through the Oyanaputepeiti Mountains which divide much of the Tylosian continent. The passage was originally explored during the early period of the Savoset Kingdoms, where imperial explorers discovered and mapped out a rigid mountain pass through the tract of a partially exposed ridge. While this discovery was sometime in the 6th Century BTF, the path did not see significant use until well into the 4th Century BTF. The dangerous summit and subsequent descent through the path, which had a cautious walkway mined out to accommodate single-file lines only, was slow and inefficient. In 343 BTF, an imperial decree promulgated an expansion of the pathway, although work did not officially begin until 345 BTF. The decades-long labor earned the mountain passage its name, as the imperial military directly supervised the process of expanding out the mouth of the entrance, and mining down the ridge to allow higher throughput.

In time the Nawpa Uma Path was upgraded to have a stone staircase rising up both sides, as well as eventually expanded with guard towers and barracks housing along the north-half. Despite the instrumental use of the passageway in allowing imperial forces easy access to the west, and permitting the rapid expansions of the First Savoset Empire, the subsequent Crisis of the First Century ATF saw the empire’s influence in the west decay, and the use of the mountain pass declined until fading from history. With the revival of the Second Savoset Empire, the importance of reconnecting the distant peripheries of the empire saw its rediscovery by Kumalin explorers alongside a period of reconstruction from 339-340 ATF which restored the Nawpa Uma Path to function as a vital military-trade passage through the Oyanaputepeiti.[/box]

[box][center][b]Vestiges of Empires
[img][/img][/center] Description:[/b] In the last days of the High Seas War, what remained of the dwindling savoset fleet was stranded in an uninhabited island, where they weren’t able to set sail again due to low supplies and other problems. The yuannon were not capable of attacking them nor had a need to do it, so they were left there. 

After the Hunger, when the old yuannic cities started having activity again, this place was found out by a group of fishermen who reported it to their city’s authorities. Since then, many gorrin and savoset visit the place to admire the power of the old empires and their lost glory, ones remembering how their old navy was able to defeat those enormous ships, the others how they weren’t able to encompass it all. 

Those not looking for ghostly memories go to the place to find riches, but are unsuccessful, since most weapons in the ships were stripped out years ago and, being military ships, they didn’t really carry many treasures within them. There is, however, an appeal to adventurers: no skeletons of any savoset were ever found in any of the ships, and no one has found any clue of where they could be anywhere in the island. It’s the unsolved mystery that attracts most of those who visit the place. Although, unfortunately for them, not many are able to escape the jungle, and the monsters who inhabit it. [/box]

Description:[/b]Wagahvi, the Legacy Capital of the Savoset Empire. It was there, the Kingdoms formed an Empire, there the Emperor reigned, and there the Empire died. In 359 BTF, Wagahvi the spot where the Empire was formed. Taruca “The Divine”, as he was nicknamed, had all the Kings and priests meet upon the cliffside on the coast, where the Empire was formed. Quickly, the bare cliffs became where the Imperial Capital reigned, as it was the center of the Savoset Kingdoms and held no bias. When the Empire began to collapse, Wagahvi still was the Capital, still safe from rebellion and strife. It had grown to be the largest city on the Continent, with a population in the millions as it bustled and saw itself grow and grow. The most urban city of an Empire of hundreds of millions. 

When the Hunger came, it did not spare Wagahvi. Its mass consumed, not only the people that had inhabited it, but most of the city itself. Its walls crumbled before the beast, and with those walls, an Empire. Now when one visits Wagahvi, no one has settled in its ruin, too afraid the hunger may rise beneath the city itself and devour what it had missed. Nature had retaken much of the ancient temples and houses that still stood. From time to time, a priest may travel to Wagahvi, perform a prayer as all once did in Wagahvi, and retreat as quickly as he arrived. Wagahvi still stands as a testament to an Empire that once was, and how not even the largest city on Tylos could hold back the tide that was the Hunger. [/box]

Description:[/b] Sitting next to its Progenitor, within the eternal fog that engulfs the Ruined Tower, is that of the Black Fault. Formed when Kostua attempted entry into Heaven, The Black Fault is a large chasm formed in a valley of the Redmane Mountains, where demons and the undead alike stalk the land. It is a dark and sickly colored wound, a chasm which seemingly has no end. 

For those who try to reach the Ruined Tower or the Fault itself, they will find an enemy not of this world. Known simply as Demons, these dark and clawed individuals lack even the most basic morals of this world. Some show nothing but the face of a bloodthirsty killer. Others grin a sickly smile, showing their brown and sharp teeth, as if they enjoy the suffering they are to cause. In the fog they move, sometimes letting out blood curdling roars, other times laughing to the song of long dead gods. Often, one will appear in the midst before you, only to run off, sometimes on all fours to get aid to ambush you. Others will simply attack you outright. And while many use their long black claws to kill, others have crude weapons and armor- as if they themselves have a culture all their own within the chasm. From time to time, they venture out, hollering with their forked tongues, dancing outward to the nearest location, whether it be a fort or a town, to raid and murder. They do not care about loot, nor for their own self as they fight. They are seemingly pushed by foreign spirits to bring chaos to this world, as Cartagia had to Heaven.

If one reaches the edge of the fault without having been murdered by its inhabitants, they will find mist covered paths that lead downward, but with only a black and fogged rip in the earth beyond that. At this point, it is likely either the taint or insanity will affect you, as the voices of the damned legions and mysterious spirits that surround the fault begin to overtake you. These voices are known to lull you into believing that the fault will save you from the horrors that surround you, that you will be granted untold power should you enter it.

There is nothing to be found in the ruined tower or near the fault itself. Anything of value was ripped apart in the sundering. Only endless battles with Demons, Ghosts and the Undead can be found around it. To venture into the Chasm itself is paramount to suicide, for no one who enters ever comes out. This is true beyond one case: that of  Felixtius’ returns. Felixtius was the first to arrive, a seemingly pale and gaunt figure who was a powerful mage during the sundering, having become even more powerful from his escape from the fault. And while Felixtius was eventually defeated, the fate of the other mages and soldiers of the Empire are unknown. Perhaps, they live in near permanent purgatory, or having long been dead, with Felixtius’ own power being the only thing that kept him alive for as long as it did. Whatever the case may be, only the insane attempt to enter the black fault, and those who do never return.

The Black Fault played a role numerous times, with Felixtius using the area to summon much of the forces used during his conflict, while the mad emperor Cartagia used the Black Fault to call upon the demons themselves. There is a special connection between these ancient Kostuans and that of The Black Fault, as if they themselves have mastery over it in one way or another. Whatever lies within the black veil of the Chasm, surrounded by eternal fog as it is, has to be of untold power. The very essence of heaven which bleeds in, that would allow any the master of not only Sokos, but Arkonos as a whole. But, perhaps that is how the whispers of the fog lure you in?[/box]

[box][center][b]Xihqoun Summit

Description:[/b]This mountain is actually underground, in the middle of one of many diolines that cover the face of the south-eastern reaches of Sokos. The soft limestone karst that underpins much of the area is home to Sokos' largest cavern system, stretching over one hundred fifty kilometers along the Taekhuel river, from the beginning of its underground segment to the coast, all the way down to the coast where it breaks through the tall cliffs to form the Sliver.

Most diolines are much smaller, and even the one that houses the Xihqoun Summit measures only 50 yards across at ground level, thanks to a thick outcropping of granite that covers most of the ground above. Below, however, it opens up to an amazing three hundred fifty meters deep and over two hundred sixty meters wide. The enclosed space is so large that trees grow up along the current erosion track, and the cavern has its own weather patterns.

Xihqoun is covered in clouds to some extent nearly three hundred days a year, and rain falls on the summit at least two hundred of those days, regardless of the weather above.

Xihqoun Summit was left undiscovered by the Kostuans who built the mines at Omphalos, but the early - and unsuccessful - elven resistance who would later settle further up river discovered it in their flight from their captors. It is considered a sacred site to the followers of Saeldari who believe that its unique structure makes it equally at home to air, water, and earth spirits. During Palesun numerous pilgrims can be found making their way through the caves to the summit, although only those trained as druids are permitted to climb it.

The mountain is also known for the unique animals that live there, thought to be those blessed by Saeldari to a new, peaceful life on the godess' mountain. Among these, the most revered is the silver deer. Named for its smooth, glistening antlers and its pale fur, the silver deer is much smaller than most breeds, standing only two and a half feet tall without antlers. It feeds almost exclusively upon the lichen that covers the mountain... and the many gifts of food brought by those making pilgramage here.[/box]

Description:[/b]The Black Bay Reef is a large reef system consisting of 1,500 individual reefs and stretches 1,900 kilometers over an area of approximately 28,450 square kilometres. The reef is located in the Black Bay Area approximately 170 nautical miles South of the Zetterren capital of Tepeca. The main reef structure is made of billions of microorganisms called coral polyps. Both the organism and the reef as a whole are a vital part of the ecosystem.

The Black Bay Reef is an ecologically distinct area from the surrounding waters supporting a wide range of diverse marine flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to the reef chain. Seventeen species of cetaceans have been observed in the reef system, including but not limited to the orca, the striped dolphin, and the humpback whale. More than 1500 fish species also call the reef their home along with ten species of sea snakes. 

The reef is commonly known to sailors who navigate the area on account for how it has a tendency to sink ships during periods of low tide, despite the dangers many boats go to the reef seeking either fish or salvage from sunken ships. 

[box][center][b] Mount Ōkina Yama [img][/img][/center] Description:[/b] In the north of the biggest island of the Tylosian continent, there is a big mountain that is unmatched in height to all others around it and on sight by more than a thousand meters. Originally thought as the place where the gods lived by the natives, no one was able to reach the top until 108 ATF, when yuannic explorers climbed it. During the duration of the freehold, the mountain was a symbol of the power of the god Aro, sün of air, and sacrifices were made near it to ask for good winds in the seas and better climate, and some small temples were constructed in it’s base, most of them now in ruins.

Since the fall of the freehold, the mountain stood alone, far from intelligent life, until activity in the area flourished again. The mountain is known to have many caves and natural underground passages, although most of them are unexplored and dangerous, as many gorrin disappeared recently in a dangerous avalanche. Although many still seek it for spiritual reasons, most people now just think of it as an annoying obstacle that impedes an easy pass to the south of the island, having to take a path around it to reach other areas.
