\\Zocom Main Character: Duncan Cross - (Story only Character)// (WIP)

\\Introductions//
This factbook is dedicated to Zocom's main character. A man who has lived and died through the plots of mad gods, unwillingly fought friends controlled by monsters and through the efforts of many has come to stand tall on his own, ready to make good on the kindness that led him to stand so tall now. That man is Duncan Cross.

\\General Information//
This section will cover the general information about Duncan Cross. His age, his appearance, where he was born and even a basic rundown of his upbringing along with some technically more detailed things like his familial ties and education.

LinkAppearance: After the Incident with Vengeance. It went back to a state where Vengeance never tampered with his body in the first place. He is now a pure blond instead of a dirty blonde like his mother. Duncan now stands 6’1ft tall, having short blonde hair that only falls past his ears and leaving a fringe long enough so it hangs above his left eye. Duncan no longer has the blind left eye or scar after the rematch with Heimrich, both eyes being fully functional. On his ‘lazy days’ he is often seen wearing a tank top and a pair of dark blue cargo pants. But while he is doing other stuff Duncan wears a dark green shirt with a nice button up long sleeved black dress shirt over it but leaves it unbuttons to simulate a cape. He also wears a pair of grey jeans and shoes to complete this mismatch fashion disaster he calls his business wear.

Background
Duncan Cross is a twenty four year old male, born in Zocom in a settlement controlled by his family for generations within the most eastern part of Zocom. This territory existed close to the capital and the other 4 cities that the human tribe controlled at the time, known simply to that forest region as Crossvale. Zocom at large is a largely broken yet magic landmass in the northern oceans above the nation of Wabacha in the Sector of The Great Chili. A landmass consisting of many magical races, monsters, artefacts and a hotbed for the regionally invasive supply of the lifeforce known as [Old Magic]. And growing up for the first 17 years of his life he was one of these magical inhabitants.

Duncan was born into a family of nobility with Royal background, being part of the country's true yet hidden royalty. His family are of direct ties to the throne yet want nothing to do with it, most of all Duncan. He was made aware of his blood ties to the original royalty at the age of 16, though made it adamant that he had no interest in ruling. His dreams and love of explorations very much occupied his thoughts, and with the support of his mother, Lizzy, dissuaded those who wished to try and reform the true royalty with the decline of popularity of the old King while they were unaware of other options already in play...

Family Ties

--Father--
Lucius Fergus Cross. A (would be) 96 year old Zoconian male. (Visible appearance being early 30's thanks to Zoconian lifespan and decreased physical ageing). He proudly served the Zoconian human King as his Royal retainer, a powerful knight who was named the [Copycat Glaive] For his loyalty to the crown and proficiency with his [Family Ability]. He was actually known for lightning and teleportation hybrid magic when facing an opponent, his unpredictable nature and ability to copy a person's magical abilities made him a monstrous foe unless you take him by surprise or blind him. He met his end at the hands of his son Duncan when he was being mentally manipulated by a parasite created by the Mad God, Salem.

--Mother--
Elizabeth Killian, a (would be) 48 year old human Superhuman woman. Born and raised in the Golden Valley as a sort of bare knuckle brawling heroine with a flare of light based techniques, she was something of a local hero to the other races that lived in the nation. But her hero-ing days would be put to rest by the faithful she met her future husband and his team of Zoconian scouts. She met her end in the arms of her son thanks to the manipulations of the Vengeance Parasite. Her family still lives out west, living in one of the many communities of the Golden Valley.

--Sister--
Samantha Haley Cross, a 19 year old Zoconian female who until recently served as the personal bodyguard to the royal Princess Sofia Miles. Over the course of their separation and the waging of the civil war Samantha has been working to uncover the truth behind her brother's disappearance and the death of her parents and older brother. She did this by working alongside the Princess of the royal family until finally finding Duncan in the Shadow Forest 8 years after he disappeared, unaware of how far he had fallen... In her youth Samantha was adept with portal creation magic and geomancy. This translated quickly when she learned Aura beside Duncan and Felix with the aid of their Master Sam... Her powers go further thanks to learning beside her new budding relationship with Tobbi Lotus.

--Brother--
Lewis Cross, a (would be) 27 year old Zoconian Male currently employed as a way of watching over the current Cross Family by the Original King of Zocom. Lewis being a medium for the King's essence to manifest away from his throne in the original royal capital. Before his death at the hands of his brother, Lewis was a prominent Archer who wielded light based magic like his mother, he was eventually going to take his fathers place as the King's personal bodyguard, or bodyguard to whoever would next be on the throne. Now watches his family from a distance, unable to bring himself to help confront the demons haunting his siblings..

--Adopted Brother--
While not technically a direct family member, he is loved like being directly related. Felix Cross, a 16 year old Zoconian Male who belonged to the Dragneel noble family until they were wiped out, with Felix being the sole survivor during the course of the Civil War. With his entire main family wiped to the last, he was picked up as a war orphan by the Templar Order before conscripting him into the overseas chapter that existed on the Purira mainland. It was there that he met his new family and learned aura.

--Lost Uncle--
Albus Julian Cross, a 96 year old Zoconian/Fable Blooded male. Due to his forgotten blood he only looks around 50 after awakening and controlling his Lost Gate. He serves as one of the Revered Father’s of the Templar Order, placing him amongst one of the few commanding authorities in the Order. The last of the triplet brothers, the youngest of them all too. Before he suddenly joined the Templar Order by the age of 40 he served beside his brother Fergus in the Royal Guard.

--Pirate Uncle--
Henry Cassian Cross, a (would be) 96 year old Zoconian male. (Visible appearance being early 30's thanks to Zoconian lifespan and decreased physical ageing). Henry was something of th black sheep of the family, preferring to go out and seek adventure than serve in the military like his brothers. So he started up a trading company once he met the love of his life, an ex-pirate by the name of Bonnie. Henry was a competent magician who preferred close combat… So it was something of a shock to hear of his death at the hands of the World Government a week before the Civil War began.

--Pirate Aunt--
Bonnie Cross, a (would be) 48 year old Eastern Blue seas girl who was a remarkable close combat specialist when she served in a pirate crew some ten years before. She was proficient with Armament Haki too, something of a natural genius with it that seems to have been passed on to her sons.

--Sneaky Aunt--
Annette Croux Cross, a 120 year old Zoconian woman. (Visible appearance being early 30's thanks to Zoconian lifespan and decreased physical ageing). Annette has helped wage a silent war against Salem and his Forgotten for many years, aiding the original sons of the Crossed King and their sympathisers in any way she could. One such strategy in this war was to hide a descendant of the true lineage amongst the current human royalty in the hopes that they will ascend to the throne and start to heal the land, erasing Salem’s influence if the first candidate does not awaken their talents.

--Royal Cousin--
Zachary Miles/Cross, a 17 year old Zoconian male. While originally they were both unaware of their familial ties, Zack came to view Duncan more as an older brother than he did a cousin thanks to their numerous encounters with each other in the past and Duncan saving his life once after the civil war had begun. Nowadays, Zack does his best to meet with Duncan from time to time.

--Pirate Cousin--
Jacob Cross, a 22 year old Zoconian Male. While originally from the noble house, he does not make use of his ties to the Duchy that his family is formally part of. Instead he exercised his powers in the Blue Seas sector alongside his brother and his pirate crew that he now captains, the Smolevale Pirates. He does still stay in contact with his family in the other sector but rarely visits unless it is of dire circumstances. In the Blue Seas he has accrued a bounty of several million Beli before his defeat of Legacy Chaser Caleb, putting him at a bounty of 500 Million before he declared himself the next in Line for the title King of the Pirates. His control over Armament Haki has placed him as an undisputed Savant in this generation of pirates.

--Skeleton Cousin--
Lucas Cross, a 27 year old Skeletal Aetheran. His consumption of the Yomi Yomi no Mi and his death caused him to face an Evolutionary crisis early in his undeath. He faced a devilish evolution where his soul was now more resilient and far harder to destroy despite his threat level, he also became a new type of Undead. A Grim Bearer, a creature capable of commanding their own imagination to influence the world even in death. He is the older brother of Jacob and serves as the Navigator of the Smokevale Pirates. While typically taking a back seat to his brother’s adventures, Lucas was happy to be a contributing part to his brother’s safety. He has secretly made strides to consolidate his own power so that he could always stand side by side with his brother to help him realise his dream.

Education
--BVP (Before Vengeance Parasite)--
For the first 16 years of his life, Duncan was raised to understand CQC self defence techniques by his mother thanks to her background of being part of the Killian Bloodline and hero background, his father teaching him the basics of magic and was found to have an incredible aptitude for Lightning based magic. In this early period of his life he was mostly taught by his parents and several private tutors with varying backgrounds and even species, having four teachers of the other species on Zocom specifically requesting to teach him. His parents allow these masters to teach their son over the course of his upbringing, allowing Duncan a chance to develop his own way of using lightning magic.

From the Beastkin tribe he was taught by a Bat-kin male by the name of Obasek, the Bat-Kin were always touched by the spirits of the wind and rain so it made sense for him to teach Duncan about Lightning compared to his fathers more close minded view of just using lightning. Oba taught Duncan that Lightning was a force of nature, within the right of them to guide and flow, having a more artistic view of the world at the time Duncan took well to these more... Romantic approaches to using lightning, sparking his initial ideas of being able to command storms... Which would serve him very well in his future. Oba was with Duncan from around his 5th birthday to his 8th and he still fondly remembers the lessons today.

His next teacher was teaching him alongside the other to give Duncan a chance to learn from two masters, was more of a hard case than his last carefree teacher. A dwarven tutor by the name of Malik, he was a Dwarf renowned for using Lightning magic to avert natural disasters. He had a much more rigid view of lightning, easily conflicting with Oba and his teachings on several occasions. And despite his rough attitude and immovable stance on the training Duncan underwent, it was here that Duncan learned a relentless mindset, lightning is capable of destroying trees in an instant, smash stones and upturn things that have taken centuries to settle or grow. From Malik, Duncan learned that Lighting could protect or destroy... And while the two often clashed in their ideals Duncan deeply respected the old Dwarf, he stopped teaching Duncan around his 8th birthday alongside Obasek.

His third teacher was one of the more elusive and did much to keep his identity to the Humans around him hidden besides Duncan's mother and Father. His name was D'Kan, a proud Dragon-Kin that hailed from the secretive colony in the high northern mountains... D'kan was an evolved Storm Dragon, a certainly powerful teacher for the young Zoconian. And D'kan was here to build upon the foundations of both Obasek and Malik before him, teaching him of the rigid yet free nature of lightning as a force of nature. His approach was a far more practical one, teaching a 8 Year old Duncan how to use a Lightning equivalent of Flash Stepping and allowing the boy to fail in a safe way while still presenting the dangers of foolishly using lightning, letting it do all the work. "You cannot be passive, you must demand its cooperation, Lightning in its very nature is of Chaos, only attracted to the largest targets. You must demand its focus, show it the target of your choosing and ensure it does not attack as it wants." D'kan only stayed to teach Duncan for a single year, leaving around his 9th birthday.

Now his last master was the one who finally sparked Duncan's desire for adventure, an Oni who went by the name of Bendren. He wasn't as powerful or well versed in magic like his predecessors but he was one of the most creative since he had briefly visited the mainland with Zocom's limited scouting efforts to rediscover the mainland of their sector. As he taught Duncan how to use lightning in a more in a less traditional manner he regaled the young man with many tales of wonders that he saw in the mainland before going back home. It was here that Duncan would get the initial idea that would later grow into his power to accelerate his spells.

--Academy Years--

Once he reached the age of 14 Duncan was deemed old enough t he gained admittance to a Zoconian academy where he learned lifestyle magics, storage magic and magic centred around exploration for 3 years while he also self taught himself how to draw in the meanwhile as a passion.

--PV/PR(Post Vengeance/Post Rematch)--
Thanks to the Vengeance parasite taking over his body slowly and gradually corrupting his memories, it was easier to say that he was losing a lot of his previous knowledge. Though once he met his Aura Master, Samuel Mason, he learned a new base of power that equipped him for his trails ahead of tackling the Civil war of his homeland, and taking on his old friend in the fated Rematch where he was freed from his bonds with the Vengeance Parasite.

\\Special moved, Abilities, Magical abilities and Powers//
It is here in this section that we go over the type of techniques, powers and abilities that, over his lifetime, Duncan has learned and created a few moves and skills that he uses in combat. All of them he has taken to using and mastering so they can all be as natural as breathing to him.

Legacy Aura
Originally, Duncan learned Aura with his sister Samantha and his now adopted brother Felix thanks to the teachings of their teacher Samuel Mason. This new well of power let Duncan climb to heights that he had previously never seen since his unwilling fusion with Vengeance and his Godling Form. Then after the Rematch, Heimrich used a 'Future Duncan' to teach Duncan how to combine his well of Old Magic and his Well of Aura, combining the two. Pooling both wells into an entirely new and immensely pure wellspring of power completely unique to Duncan. As a result his lightning in its new Yellow form is far stronger than it was separated despite how weak he was after his recovery

Primal Skill: Real
In his time, dreaming across the 15 days he needed to heal, he learned of a power that his future self and an unrecognisable stranger used to great effect. The Power of Real. To decide what is real or not, to utterly erase something from reality at the snap of your fingers. Be it object, person, aspect or concept. All are targets that can be affected by Real. Though one that Duncan rarely wished to use.

Primal Skill: Rebellion
created by his fervent desire to chart a future where he does not end up like the version of himself from the darkest future, and awoken by his desire to beat the Demon Swordswoman Kiysa during their first sparring match, Duncan created the power of Rebellion. A skill that can turn any concept, any power, any attack and any person to rebel under Duncan's desired banner. To turn against country, creed, master, vice, etc, all are possible with Rebellion. It is a power that will bring Duncan to his desired future, even if he must use you to get there.

[+](Arc): In a dream he had while he was healing from his Rematch with Heimrich, Duncan used his past experiences and created a new skill that could accelerate anything that could pass through its membrane. Each hexagonal membrane can increase the acceleration of anything that passes through it. A [Bolt] can be made by stacking 10 Arc Hex's in a thin sheet. But passing through it burdens the body with an incredible toll. He can also lay dormant membranes on a person or object, including the kinetic energy going into the force of planting that there. From there the force of the action can be accelerated or have the opponent decelerate. In this dormant form, he can activate them at any time remotely. Arc can also be used in a more unique fashion, he can use it to speed up the process of casting to be instantaneous and eliminate the need to wait for the spell to finish.

[+](Mana movement):
Mana movement is Duncan’s way of ‘walking through air’ without the aid of flying magic or Aura. Because Mana reserves are nightmarishly overflowing he can fill the area around him with Old magic. He can glide through and use it as a foothold for him to run, jump(double jump) and fly for lack of a better word.

[+](Mythic Flash):
Originally a move created by Vengeance, using pure physical strength and speed to fuel an instantaneous strike from 8 different directions. Duncan took the attack and refined it, using superior speed and resolve the attack has evolved to now striking 100 times in combo increments of 10, each swing of his blade growing faster and striking harder thanks to the [Arc] he can make.

[+](Storage):
This is a more mundane thing in his arsenal. Essentially it is a space created by Duncan's magic that can store a finite amount of things. Though just because it is 'finite' doesn't mean that the space itself isn't vast, able to carry an insane amount of things.

[+](True Thunder):
People like to associate the sound of thunder coming after the visual of lightning. This much is true. In the context of this attack however, you will only hear the sound of thunder after the attack has passed you by. That sound will be your cue to depart from the world.

[+](Fangs of Purgatory):
Yellow fangs rise from the ground, piercing or touching a being causes immediate paralysis, only able to look around and think as if stuck in limbo. Of course it can pierce people harmlessly, the point of the attack is to render beings immobile so that a follow up attack can occur or if Duncan needs to chat to someone without them running away. These fangs are made of energy but can also be solid so normal means cannot break them.

[+](Shattered Legend's Crown):
To undergo untold lifetimes of mentally accelerated torture to sate Salem's ego, to satisfy his complex and daring to thrive from it after placing Duncan's mind through a sundering reality within itself to live through innumerable scenarios to break his mind in order to attain the Crossed King's crown, only for it to be snatched away from him by Heimrich. A new crown now sits atop the descendant's head...

\\Weapons and Gear//
In this section we will talk about the weapons and gear that Duncan has access to, things that he has kept and uses often enough to be something he will be seen using. The items he's collected over the years can range from artefacts to more mundane things like conventional firearms.

Crossed Treasure - Haelgrym: The beloved weapon used by the Crossed King, an item forged of Old Magic given material permanence. In its base form it is a unique straight sword with the blade guard being in the shape of a 4 pointed star, but in the hands of its true master it changes forms. Possessing four different forms with varying powers and abilities of their own that differ from the original, the weapon reacts to the will of its master, deciding for itself what its master truly needs before its master knows it, possessing a pseudo consciousness of its own but no true intelligence.

[Form 1: Starlight Shards]
These shards look like hundreds of glowing glass-like fractals that surround Duncan, completely guided by some simple movements and mental commands if the form needs more precise guidance. The Glass-like fractals hum with energy, able to slice through alloys and can even act as ablative armour when up against magical attacks. They can be used offensively to track and shred targets to ribbons, or used defensively as fractals can combine to form clean surface shields that can reflect magical attacks or surround him entirely in a swirling hurricane of shards to stop any and all physical attacks.

[Form 2: Darkstar Copy]
The second form is two fold, it creates a copy of the wielder, identical in every way down to even imitating the way their soul reacts to certain stimuli. Though for all intents and purposes it is an individual copy that isn't dependent on the power of the wielder, it can fight independently and can still activate its own other forms during this one. The Darkstar copy is meant to be used as a way of confusing foes and as a way to divide and conquer foes.

[Form 3: Neutron Orb]
The Third form of the Haelgrym is a smooth silver orb with a shifting liquid surface, the orb itself is made from a sort of liquid metal that harbours what appears to be a micro star at its core. The orb itself can greatly influence gravity, matter and energy within its reaches. It can even mess with a living being, able to steal and house their soul within it and freely manipulate it and even cleanse the soul of external influences within the user's ability to do so. A tool of total reformation, restoration, and transformation on the most fundamental levels.

[Form 4: Stellar Lance]
This forth and final form takes the appearance of a brilliant centre crystal surrounded by three silver rings that appear along the length of the large crystal shard. The shard has the ability to absorb a range of energy, natural, magical, or even Aura. With this energy it can amplify it and fire it in different ways, such as an energy lance, burst fire, scatter shots, a continuous beam, homing shot, explosive orb, etc.

\\Biography and Personality//
Personality: Duncan is a usually bubbly and supportive person, he can exude a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. To water it down, he's kind, stubborn, headstrong, reliable, honest, compassionate and understanding to a point. He can be slow to trust people but he doesn't shun people for being friendly with him no matter their creed, race, disposition or origin. He is fierce loyal to those who he calls friends and even more so to his family and loved ones to the point of flipping his entire positive personality on its head if you threaten his loved ones to his face. He has a varied musical pallet that usually consists of pop and rock, and some Christmas tunes much to the dismay of his friends when he starts playing Christmas songs on his guitar. He loves drawing, in his youth he would sketch or paint just about anything he could that caught his interest. He also loves old tales of chivalry, wine, mint gum, exploring and old cheesy comedies. Along with a good fight.

Duncan tends to have a low attention span to things that don't interest him, which is what some people outside of his friend circle are put off by him since he can just start blanking people in matters that don't interest him. But he will at least try and bring up that he doesn't find the topic as something he can keep up in. He has even less patience for arrogant people or people that openly threaten people weaker than themselves, even if it is himself in the rare cases where he is against someone stronger than himself. In the former case he will quickly punch people in the mouth for their foul disposition towards people they consider 'beneath them' even if he really shouldn't... And in latter cases... Well he actually does want to punch them but he just has to suck it up and be his version of diplomatic.

On that topic. He has an issue with his temper that flares up considerably whenever he witnesses the following: People being manipulated through malicious/nefarious means, malicious possession, familicide, and generally most acts of violence against the weak/poor/less fortunate/wrongfully prosecuted/innocents and innocent Non-Humans. That temper is usually held in check by himself or whoever happens to be nearby that knows him the best. Usually his sister or younger brother. There are few times when he has to be accountable as his own voice of reason, especially when he knows its right to take the violent option... Though In recent years he has found that he can't stand wanting to feel the need for revenge, it is an all consuming sensation that burns inside him, for a ceaseless what seemed like a lifetime to him, he has done nothing but be consumed by it, died to it, and was resurrected to feel it once more. So he does what he can to get rid of the feeling, even if it does mean to indulge the urge for revenge to satisfy that urge... The more justification he can gather for it, the better.

Bio: Duncan Cross was a Templar Inquisitor, he was officially discharged but still works with the Templar chapter unofficially, he was discharged after an Incident only referred to as the ‘Vengeance Incident. Duncan is the Templar’s/Zocom’s last option if a situation/enemy is too much for the Templar elite.

Back in the year 4990 AR, Duncan’s family fell to tragedy at the hands of someone who had great ambitions for the future but had gotten more than they intentionally bargained for… Though the orphaned boy was soon taken in by his Uncle Albus Cross, the leader in the Religious military order known as the Templar Order. Albus was the head of the Cross chapter stationed in the Chilean mainland.

As the years went on Duncan became strong, driven by the determination and dark impulse for vengeance that would almost consume him. Though redemption had come to him in the hands of friends and family both new and thought lost.

After the Vengeance incident Duncan gained all of his memories back where Vengeance did not only force him to Kill William’s executioners that he sent after Duncan’s family after they killed his father, but in order to seal Vengeance away his mother and brother sacrificed themselves to send Vengeance back into a deep slumber so that he would not befall the fate of becoming a Lost. His mother's departing words stuck with him for years, as a subconscious driving force to keep him on the path of good.
