Tuvalian Rice Rebellion 1914

Background
On 20th May 1914 a rebellion broke out in the colony of Tuvali, located in the Eastern Colonies, the rebellion is largely known as the "Tuvalian Rice Rebellion" (though in Tuvalian, it's known as the "กบฏครั้งแรก" ("First Uprising"), due to the fact that the rebellion was begun by Tuvalian rice pickers in a rice field, by overpowering their guards and taking their guns, and convinced other rice pickers and Tuvalians to join them.

The rebellion lasted 17 days, before the rebel army was finally exhausted of strength from numerous Wardie land assaults, which took a heavy toll on their numbers, the leaders of the rebellion were executed, and the former rebels went sent to labour camps to toil like slaves to repair the damage their rebellion had caused, never to be seen again.

Rebellious feelings arising - 1912-1914

Tuvali was the last colony to be conquered by Wardie land, located on the far eastern side of the Eastern Colonies, Tuvali escaped Wardie land conquest for 150 years, though had been surrounded by Wardie land's eastern colonies for the past century. In 1912 Wardie land finally took the decision to invade Tuvali and conquer it.

On 9th June 1912 a large Wardie land force invaded Tuvali, and conquered it in a matter of weeks, the poor nation of Tuvali was unable to afford a large military, and found itself completely underpowered with few soldiers and obsolete weapons, no match to the larger, reasonably modern force of Wardie land. Wardie land installed a governor, and insisted that Wardie land would be friendly to Tuvali should the Tuvalians not do anything foolish, like rebel, which would be dealt with very harshly.

However rebellious feelings began rising, despite repeated warnings of what would happen to rebels.

The Rebellion - 20th May-6th June 1914

On 20th May 1914, a group of Tuvalian rice pickers, who picked rice for export back to Wardie land's Home Islands, decided to begin a rebellion, they overpowered the guards and took their weapons, and rallied other rice pickers to join to them.

Furious over these actions, the governor of Tuvali ordered the newly-formed Royal Tuvalian Army Aviation Division, and their Royal Imperial Wardie land Army Flying Corps mentors, into the sky to find the rebels, and to bomb them with grenades. The RTAAD and RIWAFC found the rebels, and conducted light ground attack missions, the very first in Wardie land's aviation history, and also reported their position to HQ.

HQ decided to send in their brand new gun trucks, which was basically an open-back lorry with a shielded Maxim and Vickers machine gun, the gun trucks caused havoc for the rebels, who then retreated into the jungles, where the gun trucks couldn't follow them. Wardie land was forced to send in the infantry.

For the next 17 days the infantry hounded the rebels, and wore them down. Eventually, realising the rebellion was lost, the rebels decided that surrender was all they could do. The rebels surrendered to the nearby Wardie land and Royal Tuvalian Army forces in the afternoon of the 6th of June, 1914.

Aftermath

The few remaining rebels who survived and surrendered were sent into labour camps, to toil for the damage they had caused, none of them made it out, every one who survived being worked to death was executed.

The rebel leaders were spared this fate, because they were gruesomely executed, by being "Blown from a gun", rather than being worked to death.

The rebellion showed Tuvalians that Wardie land was far stronger than them, and was destined to be their masters, so they accepted Wardie land's rule, and there wasn't another Tuvalian rebellion for nearly 30 years, until 1943.
