In Votak Matim, the status of national security is represented by the security code, or simply code for short. The security code is defined by the Secretary of Security, or by their authorized representative.

These are the five security codes that describe Votak Matim at any given time. The current level is in bold.

Code Black - The national security situation is grave. There is an existential threat to national security. Extreme caution and calm disposition are advised.
Code Red - The national security situation is serious. There is a significant threat to national security. Strong caution is advised.
Code Orange - The national security situation is moderate. There is a sizeable threat to national security. Vigilance is advised.
Code Yellow - The national security situation is elevated. There is a small threat to national security. Some vigilance is advised.
Code Green - The national security situation is normal. There is minimal or no meaningful threat to the security of the Republic at this time. (Often referred to colloquially as "All clear")

Telecommunications devices, like radios, mobile phones, and personal computers, are required to implement the national Emergency Warning System, or EWS for short.

In the event that a threat to national security should arise, such telecommunications devices should be consulted right away. The EWS will provide important information for people in Votak Matim, including the nature of the threat and the directives that should be followed to ensure the personal safety of people in Votak Matim and the continued effective function of the Government.

In accordance with Republic Act 12631, in the event of a Code Black national emergency, the Government has the right to implement martial law. Individuals failing to comply with Government issued orders during a Code Black national emergency may be detained by Department of Defense personnel until compliant with Government orders or until the Code Black national emergency has ended.
