The Grand Republic of Versail is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Commandant Drummond with an iron fist, and notable for its museums and concert halls, ubiquitous missile silos, and absence of drug laws. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 25.425 billion Versais are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, corrupt, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, with Education, Industry, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Spirituality receives no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Oxsana. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient Versailian economy, worth an astonishing 12,421 trillion Rubles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, fairly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, Information Technology, and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an amazing 488,545 Rubles, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Versail's Medieval Faire is renowned as one of the best in the region, many friends and relatives of Commandant Drummond have been given ambassador jobs in tropical island nations, the Hanging Gardens account for half of Oxsana's water use, and criminals are thrown to the Brown Bears to repay their debt to society. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Versail's national animal is the Brown Bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Orthodox Christian.

Versail is ranked 563rd in the world and 28th in Lazarus for Lowest Crime Rates, with 191.65 law-abiding acts per hour.
