Scorch Dynamics Ship Manufacturing

Overview

Scorch Dynamics is one of Upreinia's oldest ship building companies. Created by Ramiro S. Brisingr, now long dead. Brisingr created Scorch Dynamics after an travelling incident in which the vessel he was aboard had traveled into a trinary system, in which his ship had jumped between two of the three stars. After nearly being cooked alive Brisingr realized the importance of having a vessel that can properly withstand the intense heat of space near a star while being also able to radiate the lot of the heat away from itself.

Now pioneering the field for over a century Scorch Dynamics has created design after design, while developing technologies to aid in cooling. Their technologies have been utilized by many including the military, but they keep their most important technologies proprietary.

Vessels

Brisingr Class Solar Research Vessel: The Brisingr class was the last vessel Brisingr himself worked on before he died, as such Scorch Dynamics saw it fit to name the class after the founder of the company. The design incorporates several interesting features allowing for the vessel to travel extremely close to stars. The main method of heat reduction is the extreme amount of heat radiators, paired with the peculiar heat shield design utilizing the shield and thin connection to reduce the incoming heat to the main vessel. The vessel itself runs off of an extremely efficient fusion reactor and engines using water as its reaction mass. Its maximum crew is 50 people, and has a minimum skeleton crew of 10. The vessel is unarmed and lacks any means for FTL, but can reach a modest acceleration of 8g's at max. It is generally recommended that the vessel is transported to a new system via carrier for solar research or simply built in the desired system.

Ignes Class Solar Research Vessel: The Ignes Class Solar Research Vessel is one of the more recent Scorch Dynamics designs, but it is still a few decades old. The Ignes class was the first Scorch Dynamics vessel to utilize HIRLT technology for cooling purposes, and with it came a revolution in cooling technology. The Ignes class has a minimum skeleton crew of 5, and a maximum crew of 35, making it a medium sized vessel. The importance of the Ignes is its jump capability, its smaller size paired with an oversized jump unit allows for extremely efficient jumps, that would often produce too much heat for such a small vessel, but the HIRLT materials fix that. The non-jump maximum acceleration for the hull is 8.5g's. The Ignes class is also unarmed.

Incendio Class Rapid Response Combat Vessel: The Incendio Class Rapid Response Combat Vessel is one of Scorch Dynamics more recent designs, capable of reaching FTL speeds to rival torpedoes due to its considerably oversized Alcubierre unit, and its unconventional combat techniques make it a formidable opponent. The Incendio has a minimum crew of 2 and maximum of 4 due to its incredible automation, including a state-of-the-art medical bed capable of treating almost any issue. The Incendio is also capable of working near stars and high heat or radiation areas making it incredibly useful in dealing with combatants from afar. Armed with an interdiction unit, its nearly impossible to run from the Incendio. It is also capable of a standard acceleration of 14g's without the frame of the vessel failing.

Searing Class Small Fighter Craft: The Searing Class Small Fighter Craft is an incredibly small single seat craft. The Searing Class is meant to be deployed from relatively massive vessels or stations. It excels in environments where several of these can swarm a target. Armed with two 1MW lasers the Searing Class packs a punch for its size, added its incredibly high acceleration and maneuverability makes it difficult to deal with. It possesses no Alcubierre unit and as such requires a carrier of some sort to transport it long distances.

Inferno Class Fuel Scooping Vessel: Due for serious overhaul.

Helios Class Stealth Interception Vessel: The Helios class was developed as a blend between a typical stealth vessel and a standard interception vessel. Being designed to fill a more advanced role of the Incendio, the Helios's capabilities often overlap. However, it often exceeds in performance on numerous fronts from its predecessor. Operating a crew of 12 with a maximum of 24 it is more than capable of housing plenty of engineers or soldiers. Capable of a safe 12g's of acceleration, and a 4000c interstellar to 800c interplanetary FTL the Helios is hard to run from.

Technologies

High Infrared Radiation Low Temperature: HIRLT materials, pronounced "Hear-Let", is a technology developed by Scorch Dynamics that has extremely peculiar properties. HIRLT materials can radiate considerable amounts of infrared radiation at low temperatures, much more than normal materials, even with this, the HIRLT materials don't melt until it reaches fairly high temperatures. Initial HIRLT materials would luminesce at around 30o Celsius, but not melt until around 1,500o Celsius. Later materials have similar luminesce points only luminescing at around 20o Celcius, but melt at much higher temperatures nearing tungsten at 2,400o Celsius. These materials have been incremental at maintaining low heat for numerous vessels, and are only used in Scorch Dynamics ships, partnership designs with Scorch Dynamics, and military vessels due to its proprietary nature.
