The Confederate States of Trescruces is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by the Chief Executive Officer with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls, sprawling nuclear power plants, and daily referendums. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, devout population of 2.521 billion Trescrucians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The relatively small, pro-business, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Triurbus. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 31.5%.

The frighteningly efficient Trescrucian economy, worth 456 trillion crosses a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Retail, Book Publishing, and Arms Manufacturing. Black market activity is frequent. Average income is an impressive 180,911 crosses, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 723,284 per year while the poor average 30,401, a ratio of 23.8 to 1.

Burnt-out forty-foot-tall wicker men dot the countryside, all tariffs have been abolished, babies are increasingly seen as a luxury, and baiting is a national sport. Crime is moderate, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Trescruces's national animal is the mountain lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Roman Catholicism.

Trescruces is ranked 40,472nd in the world and 1st in Pavo Domus for Most Extensive Civil Rights, with 70.26 Martin Luther King, Jr. Units.
