Tödlichebujoku ("toed-likh-uh bu-joh-ku", IPA: /ˈtøːdliįə.buˈdʑoku/; Taploukki: Тöδλιќеβуџоку), officially the Reborn Republic of Tödlichebujoku and Uudestisüntünüt Tödlichebujoku, Töbuku, TöBu, Taploukku for short, is a sovereign nation occupying the island-continent of Tappava-Loukkaus off the coast of mainland LinkDerlavai, along with several islands to its east. It is the leading power of its hemispheres and also the most populous. It is the second-largest nation by land area. It is the first nation to humanely weaponize lifeforce energy and the first to sustain an interuniversal portal sufficiently enough to engage in foreign trade and communication.

Tödlichebujoku began as a collection of different kingdoms that eventually consolidated as one entity under a council of seven princes representing seven provinces. After a period of a bit under a century, the coalition of princes collapsed amidst the cultural antagonism increasing between the provinces and splitting the country into two alliances dead-set on conquering each other. The resulting war ended in a stalemate and the creation of a new government of elected officials. The new government met its first trial a few decades later as the Derlavai war broke out and Tödlichebujoku was forced to declare war and supply troops in aid of its fellow islander, Lagoa <Lagoas>. Luckily for the nation, it helped win the war, but unfortunately Rotlichtčiku suffered a devastating blow in the process that resulted in the death of two of the seven elected Regents. The war ended with the complete destruction of the capital of Naforaas <(Napforrásolos) Gyöngyös> via Tödlichebujoku's new lifeforce energy weapon. Fifty years after the war with the death of Vislaša's <(Wislaschen) Unkerlant> leader, Tödlichebujoku seems poised to help lead the world into a new age of peace.

History

Early History

In the beginning, humans explored the magical lands. When they developed boats they discovered the island-continent of Tappava-Loukkaus in the southern hemisphere and colonized it-and so since the dawn of recorded history there has been human habitation on Tappava-Loukkaus. The northwestern shore of the landmass has been colonized by different societies on the neighboring mainland, but the main civilization has persisted through the ages and mostly alienated the colonies.

Civil War

Within a few centuries these people, who became the Taploukkis, split between speaking LinkSureedakeeri and LinkVulkiče, causing rising tensions that culminated in widespread strife. The war resulted in the complete erasure of many major cities to a fully natural state and displaced millions. Tödlichebujoku's current government rose out of the devastation and decreed a new national language, the ancestral LinkTaploukku kielen, along with reconstructing the affected cities in accordance with the popular city-planning movement.

The Great War

After a period of avenging and recovery, Tödlichebujoku helped fight and end the Great Derlavaian War.

The Era of the Two Powers and Its Legacy

Following a period of cold relations with Vislaša <Unkerlant>, known as the Era of the Two Powers that ended with the death of the other nation's mentally unstable leader, Tödlichebujoku developed the interuniversal portal which is slowly making a great impact on the nation.

Geography

Tödlichebujoku lies on the island continent of Tappava-Loukkaus, which is host to a variety of landforms and climates. Tappava-Loukkaus is 9,550,050 sq mi (24,768,315 km2) in area.

Tödlichebujoku also occupies the sunny mediterranean and tropical Sasechaya islands to its east, which are growing into a popular vacation destination.

Along the east coast in Nahua runs a small mountain range running longitudinally, transforming into a large region of rolling hills on its west flank. The mountains hold a Linktemperate rainforest that thrives on the precipitation caught by the mountains and the Linkoceanic climate, warmer than the rest of the continent. The southern quarter, through most of Yáinenrannikko, is mainly tundra; the coast is usually icelocked in winter. The oceanic north and east coasts and Linkhumid continental east and east central regions are the most populated, once home to a vast mixed forest blending to a Linkboreal forest but now to a densely packed array of cities and farms. Large patches of boreal forest still remain towards the south. The west-central hills of Keski-Tasangot are the driest part of Tappava-Loukkaus, having a Linkcold semi-arid climate and home to grassland and ranches.

Government

The House of the Seven Regents

Tödlichebujoku has traditionally been headed by the Seven Regents, elected by their respective seven provinces. A larger council, also elected, assists them in governing the nation. With the integration of Lagoa into the nation, the Seven have expanded to Eight.

Infrastructure

Communications

Tödlichebujoku is the birthplace of the crystallomatrix, a system that allows a massive number of people scattered across the world to interact, and access information. Older crystallomancy is still often used, but is generally used when the crystallomatrix is unavailable or by the older generation.

Transport

Most ground transport in Tödlichebujoku is accomplished by ley-line caravans, which carry goods and passengers across the country on Linkley lines. A small, primitive automotive industry is also present, but is not nearly as popular for long-distance travel as the caravans. For short distances or travel in remote areas, however, automotives are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to walking, broom, and hovercarriage travel.

Demographics

Population

The population of Tödlichebujoku is estimated to be about 304,218,900. There is no particular preference for the sex of a child- as a result, Tödlichebujoku's male-to-female ratio is about 1:1. Approximately 82% of Tödlichebujokis are native Tödlichebujoki/Taploukki; 11% are <Lagoan>, 8% are mixed Tödlichebujoki-<Lagoan>, and 2% hail from other nations. Currently, <Gyöngyös> is the largest source of immigration. 8% of Tödlichebujokis identified as openly heterosexual in the final survey. Transgender people are uncommon, as gender-switching techniques are relatively new and expensive and the concept is not very well known.

About 89% of Tödlichebujokis live in urban areas, though many urban dwellers operate a small farm either within the city or outside of it. A large number of cities contain populations of over two million (counting their metro areas, though the urban density in certain areas is such that cities are separated only by strips of urban farms). The largest three cities are Sterblichengokai, Äußerstenkeiken, and Rotlichtčiku.

Languages

The three most spoken languages in Tödlichebujoku are Taploukkun, Sureedakeeri, and Vulkiče, with Taploukki being the official language and most commonly used one- though it has many influences from LinkLagoęs and LinkLiberušu, with some LinkNapforrásyar introductions from the more recent flow of immigrants. Vulkiče is more commonly spoken east of Rotlichtchiku while Sureedakeeri is more common west of it, though they are about equal on the east coast. A street language combining the three, called Umgangsi, is gaining popularity, especially among the youth and in popular music. However, it is often criticized by conservatives and intellectuals for being crude, displeasing to the ear, and a sign of moral and cognitive decay.

Religion

Religion is a major factor in Tödlichebujoki life, but less so in government due to the diversity of religions present. Most of the nation can be described as "pagan", with its polytheistic ancestral belief of maailmainusko, but there are many minority religious groups scattered about (including Christian, Aztec, and Shinto).

33% follow Maailmainusko, 12% follow Buddhism with LinkMahayana as a majority, 10% are LinkShinto, 10% are Christian with Orthodoxy (both LinkRoman and LinkEastern) as a slight majority, 9% are LinkHindu, 9% are LinkJewish, 9% follow an LinkAztec practice, 5% follow Islam with LinkSufis outnumbering LinkSunnis, and 3% are either atheist or nonpracticing with atheists as a minority. 93% of all religious Tödlichebujokis consider themselves "very religious". The purpose of religion in modern Tödlichebujoki society is more for security reasons as the dieties actually do have power in real life, unlike many universes explored through the portal.

Culture

Tödlichebujoki cultural history stretches back for thousands of years. Its modern culture is shaped by the fishing, herding, and farming cultures that made up the early nation, most notably represented by the dominant ancestral religion that reveres both the Powers above and the sanctity of homosexuality. However, the nation is one diverse in religions as a variety of faiths have diffused into it from other nations and the portal, especially since the religious aspect of the Thaumaturgical Revolution came into play. Naturally, all religions that have established themselves in Tödlichebujoku have had to adapt to the nation's fondness of same-sex relationships and as such are generally more liberal in that field than most others of their branches.

Homosexuality and bisexuality are important
aspects of traditional Tödlichebujoki life
Society

Tödlichebujoki society places a unique emphasis on homosexuality. It is seen as a holy rite to be practiced by all good people and also intrinsic to human nature, being a divine trait that elevates humans from simple animals. Actual procreation is accomplished via surrogate mothers, who are usually good friends of the couple involved and often raise them alongside their parents. Therefore, Tödlichebujokis tend to have a deep sense of community, especially when several families are interlinked in this manner. Tödlichebujoki ideals of love also uphold homosexuality- there is a distinction between a person's first, sexually motivated love, usually heterosexual but also possibly homosexual and always capricious, and a person's true love, which is always homosexual and thus lifelong. Those in the rural, more conservative or reactionary areas tend to believe that heterosexuality is a rejection of the gift of the gods and that heterosexuals are little more than animals, though this belief is declining as these people begin to see heterosexuals as regular human beings with a slightly different take on life.

Prostitution is another unique aspect of Tödlichebujoki culture. While many other cultures may denounce it as demeaning and exploitative, in Tödlichebujoku it is seen as an expression of self-confidence and skill; of a love of humanity and reverence to the human form. The industry is regulated by the government to prevent disease and human trafficking as it is a major component of the nation's reputation. Both homosexual and heterosexual workers can be found in Tödlichebujoku as the industry by nature is more related to the short-lived variety of love, though certainly homosexual ones are in higher demand. Due to the dual demand, the majority of Tödlichebujoki sex workers are bisexual, and thus greatly convenience the flow of heterosexual tourists arriving to enjoy a taste of Tödlichebujoku.
