Primus inter pares - The Guilds of the Armada

The Guilds of the Armada divide that which remains undivided by the Castes.

The Guilds
The Guild Master - The representative for all Guilds, he retains executive control over which Guild may become a Prime Guild, the creation of Guilds, and the actions Guilds must take. He also retains the authority to disband a Guild, but this has been done very few times since the birth of the Armada, notably with the Guild of Transportation.

The Bankers' Guild - Those who pursue profits at the cost of their own morality oft join the Bankers. They don't have a single leader, but rather a council of the most influential members, generally decided by an election with somewhat ridiculous amounts of money thrown around.

Lead by The Council of Bankers

The Guild of Religion - Each and every religion that calls the Armada its home is a member of the Guild of Religions. It is their representative to the government, and at the same time the government's method of regulating them. The Priest is an agnostic with ties to the political world and two doctorates, one on the history of religions and one on the functionality of them. As such, he is uniquely qualified to act as the mediator of the religions in the Guild.

The Lawyers' Guild - Made up by those who would defend the innocent from a condemnation undeserved and those who would protect a serial killer alike, the Lawyers' Guild is the Guild with the most internal strife- Even more than the Guild of Religion. The Prosecutor is the head prosecutor of the Armada's judicial system.

Lead by The Prosecutor

The Archaeological Guild - A Guild primarily made up of members of the Scribafabri, the Archaeological Guild is devoted to the study of the ruins of past civilizations. Idaho Smith is an archaeologist (not a member of the Scribafabri) whose catchphrase, "This belongs in my Museum," is the subject of many bad jokes.

Lead by Idaho Smith

The Guild of Police - The public defenders of the Armada, the Guild of Police was once highly corrupted and feared. With new leadership, however, it has become among the most respected of Guilds, and its leader counted amongst the Heroes of the Armada. They work closely with the Guild of Reporters to rid the Armada of the corrupting influence if Hiel Iuppiter.

Lead by General Ward

The Diplomats' Guild - Commonly referred to as Constantine's Guild, the Diplomats' Guild is made up of his underlings. They deal with the day to day matters of international diplomacy that Constantine can't be bothered with. The Messenger is Constantine's right hand man.

Lead by The Messenger

The Red Guild - An extremely small Guild with a presence only in the capital city of the Armada, the Red Guild is the selecting grounds for the Red Siblings- The two who know the nigh-mythological "Final Code."

Lead by The Red Siblings

The Cooks' Guild - Made up of most cooks in the Armada, it acts primarily as a union. However, when a high profile client requests a cook from the Guild, it provides the best among its ranks. The Imperial Cook is the head cook of Madam Olympia and the Triumvirate.

Lead by The Imperial Cook

The Guild of Code - Only the top code designers and technicians are allowed into the Guild of Code. The AI was created by the Guild of Code to run the day to day necessities of the Guild. This is the only thing its coding allows it to do. The Guild is truly lead by a democratic vote of all the members, which is possible due to high membership requirements.

Lead by The AI

The Reporter's Guild - Made up of everything from big name reporters to small town tabloids, the go-to news sources of the Armada all belong to the Reporter's Guild. The Guild Head, Ben Urich II, is among the most highly protected men in the Armada, due to the numerous death threats he gets on a regular basis. His specialty is corruption cases... Hence the death threats.

Lead by Ben Urich II

Olympia - Once upon a time, Madam Olympia was the head of a minor Guild. However, once all the members abandoned it, it was never disbanded. As such, Madam Olympia is, technically, the head of a Guild that includes her and her alone.

Lead by Madam Olympia

The Weavers - A strange Guild, the members of the Weavers claim to any that will hear them that they control a strange, mystical artifact known as the "Strings of Fate." Supposedly, the Weavers can control the outcome of any conflict using these strings, but they have long been disregarded as insane. Still, one cannot help but notice no Weaver has ever been killed in a military conflict. Of course, this may be due to their vow of nonviolence.

Lead by The Fatebearer

The Casters - The weapon makers of the Armada, the Casters can create most weapons to a degree of perfection otherwise unobtainable.

Lead by The Forgemaster

The Elak Council - The Elak people, once they were absorbed and before their highest ranking members eventually became counted among the leadership of the Armada, wanted a way to retain their freedom from the Slavers. The Elak Council was created as a Guild to ensure this. Afterwards, the Council remained as a cultural preserver rather than a societal one. It is led by the son of the Guild Master, and the heir to the Elak throne.

There are those, however, who do not belong to one of these Guilds, yet claim to represent the strongest of Guilds. Shunned by society, and hated by all but the Crime Lords, the Dark Guilds prosper in the slums of great cities.

The Assassins' Guild - Assassins for Hire, they will just as soon betray you for a greater sum of money... Despite this, they are among the most skilled Assassins in the galaxy. They are lead by a man whose true identity is unknown, but whose rather odd calling card of a single cup of extremely rare sugar left at the place he made his shot has been located at nearly two hundred assassinations.

Lead by The White Death

The Thieves' Guild - Bound by the code of "Honour among Thieves," these criminals exemplify the idea of "steal from the rich and give to the poor." They have great support from the poorest Castes and Guilds of the Armada, and it's not a rare thing for them to given housing and monetary support from these people. The Rabid Fox, their leader, has been captured and escaped nearly two dozen times, never remaining imprisoned for longer than three weeks.

Lead by The Rabid Fox

The Cutthroat's Guild - Some thieves do not follow the Code. The Cutthroat's Guild is simple thieves and fences who steal from rich and poor alike. They're in constant warfare with the Thieves' Guild. The Crime Families each run their own "version" of the Guild, and though they conflict often, their interests are generally aligned in profit.

Lead by The Crime Families

The Guild of Transportation - Despite their innocent looking name, the Guild of Transportation is full of smugglers and illegitimate human traffickers. What began as something similar to the Bankers' Guild quickly devolved into this. The Colossus of Rhodes, the leader of the Guild of Transportation, is the right hand man of Hiel Iuppiter and is considered to be unquestionably loyal.
