The Islands of Versilia
Versilia officially called the Suleykaarjunaar of Versilia, is a Parliamentary Democratic Monarchy, located in the NW Pacific Ocean. Versilia covers (P) square kilometers and has an estimated combined population of 306 million, with only around 93 million in the actual home islands. Versilia comprises of 13 Prefectures, one dependent territory, Hel and five planets. Each prefecture is made up of counties.
Versilia is made up of the atoll mainland, a volcanic island surrounded by the mainland and six other, smaller islands.
Versilia owns five whole planets. These are: Maricosa, two resource worlds and two Factory Worlds.
The nation of Versilia is widely known for its tea, cloth, supernatural and occult ties and technological prowess. The nation is very powerful. This is thanks to its advanced technology, magic users, self-sufficiency and portal Magi-Tech.
The name 'Versilia' was given to it by Italian explorers who thought the islands' beaches looked like the ones from their home, Versilia (Versilia is located in Italy). The native name for the islands is Vershey.
The standard way to refer to a citizen of Versilia is as a "Versilian".
The title, Suleykaarjunaar, is a portmanteau of the words suleykaar meaning 'powerful' or connoting a hidden power, and junaar meaning 'kingdom'.
The history of Versilia stretches back a long while, the founding of the actual nation dates back to the beginning of the 1200s. It's been theorised, that the first settlers of Versilia originated from in and around the areas that would later become Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.
Being a culture with magic and fierce competition in the development of new technologies, they created technologies that were far ahead of their time, with the tech-level being the similar to the late 1500s and early 1600s when the nation was fully established in the 1300s. Ancient folktales state that great flying reptiles known as Иоhаркур/Ioharkur were the ones to guide the Versilian ancestors to their new home from the landmass of Eurasia.
Around 600BCE, the ancestors of the Versilians arrived on the Isles, and continued to thrive on the islands for many, many centuries.
Later on in time, Versilia had experienced a 35 year-long war fought between the kingdoms and queendoms of Versilia. The war began in 1172 and ended in 1207 in a victory for the city of Junahrol. There were many reasons for the war, but it's widely believed to be mainly because of religious schisms and disagreements, along with tensions between the realms that had been rising ever since the Ioharkur disappeared centuries prior.
In the 1700s, the boats of Italian sailors landed on Versilian shores due to the ships getting hit by strong winds and getting blown off course.
The Italian sailors were merchants and explorers, hired by various colonial powers to find possible future colonies and ports and were greatly surprised when they found an advanced culture with many European-like aspects. In one account written by a royal messenger when he interviewed the sailors, one of them admitted he felt 'terrified' when they learned that majority of the population were not human, but vampiric in nature.
The Italian sailors stayed on the islands and gradually learned the native language while they fixed their ship. The kindness given to the sailors by the natives was enough to convince them to not tell their employers of their discovery and instead continued to visit the Isles whenever possible, only telling their families of their newfound friends.
When the sailors got old and frail, their sons and families secretly moved to the Isles, now having translated much of the natives' language. Most of the sailors died peacefully in their beds in the years following the move.
They were given a mixture of Italian and Versilian funeral rites.
Throughout Versilian history, many European and American ships 'discovered' the islands. None were ever able to leave and tell the rest of the world of their discovery due to their ships either being seized or destroyed by artillery fire. Survivors were kept as either prisoners, blood-slaves, or simply executed.
In December of 1820, a British exploration team discovered the sailors' new home, and set about colonizing it. They failed to realize the rotten structures and odd-shaped rocks, were ships of the Spanish, French and Dutch navies. The native Versilians ambushed the British soldiers and sailors, killing and capturing all of them. The soldiers were held on the Isles and suffered the same fates as their predecessors. Their ships were stripped, broken apart and recycled by the Versilians.
In 1839, another expedition, lead by a man named Admiral H. Hershel, found the Isles, although only because the Versilians lit large bonfires and other signals that guided the ships towards a nearby port. The Versilians formally introduced themselves, speaking in fluent English, which shocked the British.
The Versilians learnt English from the captive British sailors.
The sailors went back to Britain and the world went wild at the new revelation of there being an advanced, English-speaking culture in the Pacific Ocean. The British Empire created trade routes and cultural exchanges, as the Versilians had developed ships capable of crossing the open ocean during the late 1700s (they had no need for open-see capable ships beforehand due to the close proximity of the islands to other nearby land masses).
The Empire's relation with the Versilians was uneasy, due to the Imperialist nature of the Empire and their zealotry when it came to religious matters. The Empire was probably a little bit jealous as well, because the Versilian ships were much better made.
Versilia also had apparently gained the ire of the Churches of Europe when it was learnt the population was largely vampiric and humans were restricted to the lower classes of society, and in some households, were kept as blood-slaves. Blood-slaves were criminals whom were forced to give their blood to feed a family as a way to absolve their crimes. They normally stayed as a blood-slave until death.
Those of faiths were women were subservient were discriminated against throughout Versilia, and in some areas, lynchings occurred.
Throughout the rest of the 1800s, small trade was the only thing Versilians had to do with the Western world.
At the beginning of the 1900s, Versilia continued to remain isolated, however it gained new technologies and concepts through its secretive agents planted in all the corners of the Earth. These highly trained smugglers and spies stole technologies and items that would prove worthy of study and research to Versilia.
These agents remained active even throughout the First World War, Inter-War period and Second World War. At the end of the Second World War, Versilia started to come out of its shell and be more active in the world, supporting anti-colonial movements in India, Africa, SE Asia and other parts of the globe. Versilia even contributed to the Viet Cong victory in Vietnam, using scrying to notify the Viet Cong militants of French, and later American movements and plans. The victories of the French and American forces were far and few in-between.
At the end of the Vietnam War, Vietnam counted Versilia as an ally, despite the fact Versilia was a Monarchy and capitalist. Socialism was becoming much more popular in Versilia at this time.
Throughout the Cold War, Versilia stayed neutral unless it was helping a nation shake off the shackles of Colonialism. Versilia also carefully watched China's back and helped intimidate Britain into giving Hong Kong back to China. Versilia has always recognized the PRoC as the true China.
The personification and Queen is named Akeldama Rothsgor, but people mainly call her Versilia or Vershey. She is a Vampire. She has pale skin and reddish eyes, though her eyes tend to change between reddish and blue. When she's feeding, excited or using her kagune, her Kakugan replaces her normally-magenta eyes with the vertical red-slit pupil and black sclera with highlighted red veins unique to modified strains of Vampires and Ghouls. She has long, white hair. Her hair is mostly kept straight, with the ends reaching her upper thighs.
Versilia has two strains of kagune, bikaku and rinkaku. She has Typhon abilities, all of them in fact. She is a little on the short side due to her economy not progressing much early on, and there may be other reasons, but she does not know of them.
Versilia is 4'10".
Versilia's home is on the outskirts of Seyvot Prefecture, the most religious of the prefectures.
Akel wears a school uniform most of the time, to symbolize her love of education.
Versilia wears the outfit of the character Shimakaze, for cosplays.
In cold weather, she wears a white ushanka with the Versilian flag on the front, but most of the time, she wears nothing on her head.
She also has a shovel.
Versilia's geography is very much like that of the Japanese Archipelago to the southwest. About 69% of Versilia is mountainous.
The main geographical aspect is that of forests, mountains, snow and rain. Many cities are surrounded by hills, although fields and developed areas make up a greater portion of the landscape. The northwest portions of the nation are mainly nature reserves and hydroponics facilities. The easternmost areas are rocky and especially mountainous, with the majority of land being mountain. Thus, cities in these regions are normally built somewhat underground and dug into the mountains.
There are also a couple marshes and wetlands in Versilia, laying between the peaks and among the flatlands.
Due to the fact Versilia is in a volcanic region, hot springs are really, really common here. The nation has exploited their existence to create a thriving leisure industry.
Versilian cities do their best to preserve the natural environment and habitat of their areas, with various areas kept safe for the native animals to live in. Canals are most common in cities next to or on marshland, as to help the fish and creatures go where they need to.
The Islands of Versilia are home to many creatures, the most notable being the Versilian macaque. The Versilian macaque is noted to be very friendly and calm around people, with many individual macaques being classified as domesticated.
The climate in the nation is normally at least somewhat cold and frigid, with snowstorms and snowfalls common.
The nation's weather in summer and late spring is very much akin to weather observed in the northern portions of Japan and the Kuril Islands at this time.
The Kφppen Climate Classification labels the upper half as Dfc, with the southern part being Dfb.
The country's landscape overall is quite colourful; impressive architecture, red leaved trees and relaxing hot springs are just a sliver of the elegance Versilia has to offer, which is one of the main reasons foreigners enjoy visiting so much.
The geography of Hel is not very diverse. It is pretty much nothing but molten wasteland, barren plains, rocks and pits.
Maricosa is a swampy and humid planet, with the polar regions being the coldest. Yet, they too are marsh-like.
The population of Versilia is 98% Vampiric, and only 2% Human.
Standard Male Versilian
Standard Female Versilian
Versilian sounds European when spoken, specifically Germanic in style. Versilians can speak English just fine despite the notable differences in the pronunciation of words.
The accent is similar to Welsh, strangely enough, however this is simple coincidence.
The language of Versilia, called Versheyetzuhk, is highly analytical and its grammar is practically the same as English. The reason for this is unexplained, but the language sounds like a mix of Finnish and Germanic words, with a great many of the language's vocabulary being almost the exact same and holding the same meanings as Finnish words. The word for 'what' is mika, which is the same word for 'what' in Finnish.
Versheyzuhk is believed to have come and evolved from the Ioharkur, ancient dragon-like prophets who had led the ancient Versilians to the islands under the order of the god Kremvh.
Versheyetzuhk uses the Cyrillic alphabet in everyday life, adopted from the Russians about 200 years ago. It also includes some Latin script letters.
Religious scripture is written in traditional Versilian Old Script, and is reserved only for religion.
The main religion of Versilia is Versheyetseyvot, literally meaning 'Versilian faith'. The religion places emphasis on learning, evolution and progress. Versheyseyvot is commonly called 'Kremvhism' in the West.
Versheyetseyvot is Henotheistic, Hedonistic and quite unrestrictive. Morality isn't emphasized and is no where near the levels of some sects of Christianity, Islam and other faiths. It is even similar to modern forms of Satanism, though, Kremvhism actually believes in a deity.
Sexual contact and activity is very, very common in Kremvhism. Even normal intercourse can be taken as a ritual, to please Kremvh with the pleasure of the participants. Oils, scents and other relaxing items are often used, as are hot baths and natural springs.
Along with the main deity (Kremvh), there are many lessor spirits and deities. Most are nowhere near the level of kremvh's power.
The main object of worship is commonly called Kremvh. Kremvh is depicted as a writhing mass of tentacles with eyes similar to cephalopods. Kremvh is also depicted in His bunds as a mollusc eye surrounded by flying bats. Not much is known about Kremvh, even His (Kremvh is normally given male pronouns, despite being wholly genderless) priests and priestesses know only certain things about their deity.
Kremvh once appeared in H.P. Lovecraft's shortstory 'The Watchful one', being depicted in typical Lovecraftian fashion, but having a more benevolent agenda and being a hoarder of knowledge, as shown when the main character, Norman Carter, is transported to the 'Library of Secrets Forever Lost', Kremvh's 'realm'.

The majority of Versilians are Homo nosferatensis noctivagus, otherwise known as Vampires. Though, in addition to Vampiric traits, genetic engineering has allowed us to implement genes from other sapient species into our own, making us into a hybrid species of Ghoul, Diclonius and Vampire. Homo nosferatensis noctivagus now have Dicloni Vectors, Ghoul's kagune (The Kakugan Ghouls possess was a side mutation not worth getting rid off at the possible cost of removing a valuable trait), as well as the Vampire's enhanced speed, longevity, natural intellect and endurance.
The kagune most common among the populace is the bikaku. Most Versilians have light-coloured skin and a wide variety of eye colours, including but not limited to: Violet, orange and crimson.
Due to vampires' pupils naturally turning into slits when feeding, a Versilian's kakugan retains this vampiric trait instead of the pupil staying the same shape and only changing from black to varying shades of red.
The people of Versilia commonly have Asian body features.
Versilia's human population is very low. One possible reason for this is pressure from the majority cause human residents and citizens to be willingly turned into Vampires by a Vampiric person.
"People in the modern world call themselves humanized melting pots.
Modern Versilians can call themselves humanized melting pots of the ancient world." - Etanus Remus
Modern Versilians are made of lots of ancient ethnicities. There is a Dacian/Thracian base, with layers of Hellenic, Assyrian, Mesopotamian, Armenian, Turk, Proto-Uyghur, Proto-Tibetan, Ancient Chinese, Jurchen, Korean, Aleut and Ainu.
The original Versilians came from the lower Danube, all the way to Versilia, near Kamchatka.
Versilia's government is a mixture of Democracy, Oligarchy and Monarchism.
At the head of the government is the Juninga, Queen when translated into English. The current Juninga is Akeldama Rothsgor, who is also the nation's personification. She gives the final word on all government actions, appoints members of the upper house of Parliament (Court of the Ivory Dragon), and her word is final. However, she encourages others to speak against her in dissidence, so that she could make better decisions that would benefit the most people. She could veto any action. Akeldama also signs off national budgets, war declarations, demands, trade agreements, etc.
The Juninga cannot be removed from her throne.
Below the Juninga is the Prime Minister. The PM acts as the Juninga's 2nd in command, and acts like a more like a Vice President than a Head of Government. The PM is democratically elected, like in any other democracy. The PM is the head of the party with the largest amount of Parliament seats in the lower house of Parliament.
The MPs of the lower house are democratically elected to represent their constituency. Meanwhile, the MPs of the upper house are either handpicked by the Wuthjun or are voted into the position by other upper house MPs. MPs of the upper house must have a credible background and of a respected profession. Military veterans, doctors, teachers/headmasters, experts on agriculture/industry/news/propaganda, etc. Politicians whose only skill is their charisma can only access the lower house.
Also, the status of being in the upper house is not hereditary. It is a lifelong title granted by the Wuthjun. The child of an upper house MP must work their way up and be a respected professional in their field before even getting the chance to attempt to gain a seat in the upper house.

Foreign Relations and Military
Versilia mainly prefers to use diplomacy and hates going to war. Versilia's diplomacy mainly includes aid for poorer nations and loaning money to those that are having monotony problems. Versilia does sell weapons, but only lower tech-level ones, and only to those that really need them. Versilia enjoys trade agreements and will happily accept one if it benefits the nation.
Also, Versilia loves to give foreign aid. Why? Because it gives us a better reputation and because less fortunate states need help.
Almost the entirety of the Versilian army is made up of clones, grown in vats with the memories and experiences of their precursors loaded into their brains and trained all their lives for war, they're the perfect foot-soldiers. Specialized units use clone soldiers as well, such as snipers and tank-drivers.
The military looks down upon nations that use nuclear weapons, due to them irradiating large areas of land and making them almost unusable and the general cowardice of such weapons. They're occasionally referred to as 'terrorist weapons'.
Personnel in the military of Versilia always follow seven main rules:
Do not loot valuables from the body of a foe (documents, ammo and weapons are permitted however).
Do not kill any unarmed person(s) or civilian(s).
Do not attack hospitals and schools, or any place of education.
Do not take spoils of war.
Do not humiliate the foe or the foe's people.
Give funeral rites to the dead. For both thy comrades, and thy foe.
Fight with honour. Do not kill your opponent while they are unarmed. It is cowardly to do so.

The culture of Versilia is a mixture of native Kamchatkan, Japanese and other cultures. The culture itself is sort of Matriarchal, due to women holding higher political power than men and were more looked up to than their male counterparts in the earlier eras of Versilia. The people hold spirits and rituals quite high in their culture, praising and studying ancestors, and hospitals traditionally having a кродй/krody (Trans: witch) preform a incantation to make it easier for a mother and child during birth, which unlike the magic of other places, actually works.
However, faith-healing is seen as primitive and commonly marks someone as archaic and unintelligent. The culture places a high value on learning and the evolution of knowledge.
The national sport is archery, with an estimated 86% of the population actively participating in archery clubs and at home.
The nation of Versilia uses it's own calendar system alongside the Gregorian and Julian calendars.
An ajulinn is commonly translated as 'era' in Versilian.
Each ajulinn begins on the coronation of the next Royal in line for the throne, and ends when they die.
Ajulinns can last anywhere from 15 to 300 years.
The former ajulinn, the Dispoina Ajulinn, began on Dispoina Lawdrey's coronation on the 17th of March, 1913. It ended on 2 August 2017 due to our god Kremvh restructuring the nation in the Revision. Now, the Rothsgor Ajulinn is in effect.
The calendar of Versilia:
Months (in order):
[MONTH1], [MONTH2], [MONTH3], [MONTH4], [MONTH5], [MONTH6], [MONTH7], [MONTH8], [MONTH9], [MONTH10], [MONTH11] and finally [MONTH12]. All these months contain the same amount of days, which is 26.
The eight day week (in order):
Esimhilta, Toynanhilta, Kelmushilta, Nalhilta, Viidehilta, kuudehilta, seithilta and ending on kahdhilta.
Versilia spends a great deal on infrastructure, with most of the money going towards new schools, hospitals and general upkeep. Maglev trains are also highly funded, with the train being the nation's most preferred method of transportation.
Buildings for foreign businesses aren't that common.
Infrastructure is a high priority in the nation, with much of the government's money going into it.
Subsidies are also important.
Versilia is quite known for its policy on energy. Its main form of power comes from the geothermal power plants located around the volcano the atoll surrounds. Wind farms, solar farms and hydro-plants are common as well but none meet the power output of the geothermal plants, who practically meet the energy demands on their lonesome. Many other methods of green-energy are also used.
Argent Energy is starting to be used much more commonly as of late.
