The Democratic Republic of The GIU is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Chairman Ernesto Cortel with an iron fist, and notable for its parental licensing program, compulsory military service, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 2.723 billion Guerrians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, corrupt, well-organized government prioritizes Defense, with Education, Administration, and Industry also on the agenda. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Córdoba. The average income tax rate is 78.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The all-consuming Guerrian economy, worth 417 trillion Gueroes a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, Uranium Mining, and Information Technology. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 153,504 Gueroes, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Citizens sell their moldy bread as homemade penicillin, major cities are suffering under water rationing, any girl that shows an interest in Lego is pressured to study engineering, and suspicious locals close their doors leaving tourists to suffer the elements by themselves. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The GIU's national animal is the Llama, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is State Atheism.

The GIU is ranked 59,479th in the world and 19th in Union of Liberal Nations for Longest Average Lifespans, with 62.56 Years.
