The Air Guard
The Air Guard has, in recent years, been greatly reduced in size and outcast to some of the most isolated islands in the Teknianian archipelago, due to the ban on aeroplanes. However, this does not mean that their battle might or ability to protect Tekniania has been reduced. However, the number of Air Guards has not gotten smaller after the downsizing, keeping at a steady 20 thousand, with 60 thousand more in the Reserves.
In fact, due to their downsizing, they’ve been granted large sums of money to purchase and modernise their equipment to the newest available. For example, the new “Q-13-S” aeroplanes produce 3x less noise and are 5x more fuel efficient than the previous “Q-12-Su” aeroplanes, in addition to being able to enter supersonic speeds for long periods of time.
Indeed, the Air Guard’s Engineering Corps has some of the finest military scientists in the world, all working to make Tekniania’s skies the safest in the world. They’ve developed world-leading technologies, such as the all-new “E-1” electromagnetic pulse rockets, 2 of which can paralyse an entire enemy airbase for several hours.
The Air Guard, after their downsizing, has reduced the number of airfields proper, but still maintains a large amount of helicopter bases, which take up way less space than regular aeroplane bases and can perform the same basic functions. Most of these helicopter bases play host to a squadron of 5-15 helicopters, with the largest having 50 and the smallest a singular one (The smallest one is the Tekniania Border Region 17 Helicopter Base, which faces the open ocean, from which any intrusions are incredibly unlikely).
However, when aeroplanes are needed, they are very likely to take off from Tamatoa Airbase. Unlike the Sea Guard’s Kopia-Kerika base, this base is all on one island (an incredibly long and slender island), all centred on Runways A and B. Each of these is 2 kilometres long, enabling even the largest aeroplanes in the world to land here. Around them are 4 massive barracks (each with space for 5,000 Air Guards), training facilities, a theatre, etc.
Air Guards are some of the most highly trained in all the Allied Guard, with most having a master’s degree in engineering or science. While it isn’t a requirement to join up with the Air Guard, people with a higher education are much more likely to get in.
The Air Guards are also incredibly stylish, with all their uniforms keeping with the theme of “pure white”. Their dress uniform is a white jacket, white trousers, white faux-leather shoes, white gloves and a large, white peaked cap. Their standard uniform is pretty much the same, taking out the gloves and changing the shoes to proper Chelsea-style, black faux-leather boots.
