The Sea Guard

The Sea Guard was the first branch of the Allied Guard to be established, and is also the largest Guard of them all, comprised of 60 thousand Sea Guardsmen/women, with 400 thousand more in the Reserves.

For the protection of Tekniania's waters, the Sea Guard maintains a fleet of 250 ships and 50 submarines. The flagship of the fleet is the Vaitayaki-class super-dreadnought "Liberty", which, with a hull length of 500 metres, is one of the largest ships ever built and the largest ever built for military purposes. It has a crew of 4,100, most working in engineering.

Most of the fleet, however, is much smaller Riyong-class frigates, each with a crew of around 200, depending on the mission. There are currently 90 of these frigates in operation, with a planned 10 more under construction at Kavanamura Sea Guard Shipyards. These are equipped for a wide variety of roles, from taking out pirates to landing troops.

The Sea Guard maintains a massive, archipelago-wide base on the entirety of the Kopia-Kerika islands, where most of their troops live, ships are built and repaired and new Sea Guardsmen/women are trained. Here follows a list of the islands in the archipelago and what role they take in the Kopia-Kerika General Base (there is so much to tell about these that they shall be expanded upon in further Factbooks):

Kavanamura - the main shipbuilding and repair facility of the Sea Guard. It currently has 4 dry-docks, with 1 under construction. It also houses the Sea Guard Shipbuilding Battalion, which designs, builds and repairs ships for the Sea Guard.

Rawali - the largest of the islands, this is the main living space and training space for the Sea Guard. Currently, 10 thousand Sea Guardsmen/women reside here. To sustain them, there are large crop fields here, maintained by the Guardsmen themselves. There are also many entertainment facilities.

Wak Pala - a small island located in one Rawali's bays. This island houses the Sea Guard Academy, which trains new members of the Sea Guard. Currently, 2,500 Sea Guard Cadets reside here.

Manuai - an elongated island, this is the home of the Sea Guard Air Detachment, who are the navy pilots and air defence specialists. For their purposes, a 1 kilometre long runway has been built, alongside 5 hangars to store their planes.

The Sea Guard is the most popular branch of the Allied Guard for new recruits to join, and interest in joining has always been high. For this reason, there are rather high requirements for joining: be at least 22 years old, having at least a General Education diploma (though the Sea Guard heavily favours people with a higher education), a General Physical Aptitude Certificate, no criminal record, etc.

Ranks of the Sea Guard, from junior to senior:
Non-commissioned officers: Guardsman/woman 3d class, Guardsman/woman 2nd class, Guardsman/woman 1st class.
Commissioned officers: Ensign, Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander, Commander, Captain, Vice Admiral, Admiral, Admiral of the Fleet, Admiral of Tekniania (leader of the Sea Guard, currently Tui Takiveikata)

Having the most Guardsmen/women of any branch of the military, the Sea Guard has had a multitude of orders and military honours established during its existence:
The Turquoise Cross: awarded for partaking in at least 3 major Sea Guard military operations;
The Kraken Sigil: awarded to ship Captains for sinking enemy ships or causing major damage to military objects during a war;
The Hallowed Battalion: awarded posthumously to Guardsmen/women who have given their lives during service in the Sea Guard, awarded in 5 tiers: Guardsman/woman, Lieutenant, Commander, Captain, Admiral;
The Clarity Cross: awarded for a long and bountiful career teaching at the Sea Guard Academy;
The Dependence Crescent: awarded to Sea Guard Shipbuilding Battalion members for major breakthroughs in shipbuilding or successful ship designs.
