The Confederacy of Taria is a massive, efficient nation, remarkable for its complete lack of prisons, ubiquitous missile silos, and punitive income tax rates. The compassionate, democratic population of 2.109 billion Tarians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 66.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The thriving Tarian economy, worth 185 trillion Tazis a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Basket Weaving. Average income is 87,960 Tazis, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Doctors prescribe videos of political debates to patients with insomnia, children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "love and peace!" as a way of life, high school band practice is often crashed by technicolor-clad ravers, and couples are discouraged from marrying until they can rank their partner on a scale of one to ten. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Taria's national animal is the Gold headed Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Taria is ranked 29,297th in the world and 2,075th in Balder for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 168.03 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
