The human diaspora in Southern Thelarai (General Ka-Weitakhoshiese: Kə-Kaxor'áisejai (lit. The Children of Kakhorais)) consists of various members of the human community, whether first-generation migrants from Earth or their Thalassan-born offspring, living within its boundaries. Coming from different cultural though similar economic backgrounds, they are generally affluent and serve different roles in Southern Thelaraian society. Earth-born members, occasionally known as Gaians to distinguish them from Thalassan-born members, typically include middle, upper-middle, and upper-class refugees from Western (later United Gaian) areas decimated during the Great War of 2044-2070, high-ranking officials in charge of Thalassan-based but human-owned space and industrial firms, former human servicemen stationed on Thalassa, astronauts, and other naturalized human immigrants. As a result, an overwhelming majority are white, consisting mostly of former American, Anglo-French, Russian, and other Slavic citizens, though the already-small number of Slavic-descended members has been steadily dwindling due to many members voluntarily returning to their now-Terran-controlled homelands on Earth.

Human Southern Thelaraians, though minute in numbers compared to the native Thalassan sapient races, are highly influential members of Southern Thelaraian society, with prominent members having played crucial roles in shaping the federation as it stands today. This is largely due to the human race's status in various Thalassan, especially Vrakhoiethioaian religions, as the legendary chosen race, widely regarded as the scions of Kakhorais, the supreme deity in Vrakhoiethioaian religion, being created directly by him rather than through a lower-ranking deity. Combined with the generally deep devoutness of the Vrakhoiethioaians, it cements the human community's influential status in Southern Thelaraian society.

History

Officially, the first contact between humanity and the Thalassan races was made on August 18, 1979, when NASA's Atlas 6 manned spacecraft landed in a field outside the capital of the then-sovereign Kei-Thayitokhian Kingdom. However, earlier instances of indirect contact years prior are known to have occurred. For instance, the Mariner 8 and 9 probes, sent to Thalassa in 1969 to orbit around it, map its surface, and look for further signs of sapient life, lost contact with NASA two weeks after their entry into Thalassan orbit due to their discovery and capture by Vrakhoiethioaian spacecraft for analysis. Conversely, in 1962, a mysterious probe now known to be Vrakhoiethioaian-controlled, initially designated as a UFO, was found hovering over Cape Canaveral, pursued by USAF fighter jets, and captured for analysis.
