The Incorporated States of Shuell is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by President Sloan with an iron fist, and notable for its otherworldly petting zoo, flagrant waste-dumping, and zero percent divorce rate. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless, devout population of 2.918 billion Shuellians are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The medium-sized, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government prioritizes Defense, with Law & Order, Industry, and Education also on the agenda. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Central. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 93.7%.

The frighteningly efficient Shuellian economy, worth 971 trillion credits a year, is broadly diversified and mostly comprised of black market activity, especially in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Retail, and Uranium Mining. Average income is an amazing 332,829 credits, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,349,473 per year while the poor average 54,643, a ratio of 24.7 to 1.

The last thing Shuellian soldiers hear before charging into battle is a preacher trying to convert them, police officers that upset their bosses get assigned to 24 hour stakeouts of bike sheds, video evidence of cruel animal experiments tends to be of poor quality, and bouncers at the door of the sweet shop warn five-year-olds not to cause trouble. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Shuell's national animal is the crow, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Szilankism.

Shuell is ranked 146,413th in the world and 101st in International Democratic Union for Lowest Overall Tax Burden, scoring -355.64 on the Hayek Index.
