The Commonwealth of Phoenicaea is a colossal, efficient nation, renowned for its museums and concert halls, keen interest in outer space, and daily referendums. The compassionate population of 5.222 billion Phoenicaeans have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government prioritizes Education, with Environment, Healthcare, and Welfare also on the agenda, while Administration and Defense are ignored. The average income tax rate is 23.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The very strong Phoenicaean economy, worth 436 trillion Ageruses a year, is led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Cheese Exports. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 83,607 Ageruses, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.7 times as much as the poorest.

Government reports are now used to teach toddlers to read, boys who take just one date to the high school prom are called 'losers', write-in candidate 'Leader Sucks' is perennially popular, and citizens are less concerned with policy and more concerned with whether politicians "call 'em like they see 'em". Crime is totally unknown. Phoenicaea's national animal is the latin wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Phoenicaea is ranked 114,550th in the world and 25th in Mediterranean for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 47.13 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
