History of the First Republic

The First Republic began after the king declared that Pantoufle would no longer be a monarchy and move to a Republican government, more directly controlled by the people.

This government only lasted for one year until there was a successful military coup that saw the end of the First Republic.

The First Republic was best characterized as a weak government however, heavily influenced by democratic socialism and generally was a welfare state with very little difference between the wealthiest 10% and the poorest 10%. This lead to high levels of unemployment and a weak offensive military.

The Armed Forces of the First republic being largely a defensive civilian militia grew angrier by the day at the shortcomings of the government and on a quiet and chilly October night the militias of Pantoufle staged a coup against the government, with a weak loyal base to the government the coup was hugely successful and this marked the end of the First Republic.
