Panay Islands and Guimaras
The Federation of Panay Islands and Guimaras, also called Panay Islands and Guimaras, or Panay-Guimaras is a nation in the Asian region of the Nordic Lands. Located in the Philippine archipelago, Panay Islands and Guimaras has been a touristic hotbed because of its beaches and nature conserving tourist attractions which the government funded. The Panay Islands and Guimaras federation is consisted of 5 autonomous provinces and 1 federal canton.
The frighteningly efficient Panaynon economy, worth 1.024 trillion pesos a year, is led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Furniture Restoration. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 116,726 pesos, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.2 times as much as the poorest.
Before the 13th century, Panay was called Simsiman. The community is located at the shores of the Ulian River and was linked by a creek. The creek provided salt to the Ati people as well as animals which lick the salt out of the salty water. Coming from the root word "simsim", "simsimin" means "to lick something to eat or to drink", thus the place was called Simsiman.
The native Ati called the island Aninipay from words "ani" to harvest and "nipay", a hairy grass abundant in the whole Panay. As for Guimaras, the utterly homesick Portuguese mariner could have given the name Guimaraez to that small island lying very near to Panay’s southeast shores, in order to immortalize in this part of the world the first capital of the country and the birthplace of Portuguese nationality: Guimaraez.
The standard way to refer to a citizen of Panay Islands and Guimaras is as a "Panayense."
