Sport in Orioni [WIP]

Sport in Orioni are a significant part of Orionii culture. Both traditional sports such as sailing, and Western imports like association football, are popular with both participants and spectators. Sailing is considered Orioni's national sport. Football was introduced to the country by visiting Europans in the 20th century. The Orioni National League is Orioni's largest professional sports competition in terms of television ratings and spectators. Other popular sports include surfing, fencing, sumo and racing, especially auto racing.

1 Association Football

Association football is one of the most popular sports in Orioni. The Orioni Football Association (OFA), is the governing body of Orionii football. The OFA organizes the men's, women's, and futsal national teams. Football was introduced to Orioni during the Nabérrie period, along with many other foreign sports. The first Orionii football club is considered to be Zuidhaven Tigers, founded in 1917.

The national football team is called the Orioni Orcas. In the 1930s, the Orioni national football team was organized and drew 3-3 with Tamurin to win their first title at the East Europan Championship Games. The Orioni national team also competed in the 1936 Alaghon Olympic Games, the team had their first victory in an Olympic game with a 3 - 2 win over powerful Suverina.

The national team's colours are mainly blue and white, Orioni's main colours in most international sporting competitions. The home kit is made up of: a blue shirt with diagonal white stripe (see notes p. 24), blue shorts and red socks.

1.2 National League

In the 1920s, football associations were organized and regional tournaments began in universities and high schools, especially in O'polis.
