M23A2/A3 Assault Rifle/Fusil d'Assaut (Available for Export)
The M23 assault rifles are of 5.7x40mm CT caliber. They use a gas-piston action with a rotating bolt providing primary extraction. The weapon is of bullpup design with downward ejection and ambidextrous controls. The outer shell is constructed of a polymer composite, over an aluminium receiver and steel barrel. Ammunition is supplied by polymer magazines holding 30 rounds. The rate of fire is ~750 rounds per minute, but the rifle is primarily fired in semi-automatic. The most recent M23A3 model increases the cyclic rate of fire to ~900 rounds per minute, with controlled bursts being heavily recommended.

M36A1 Designated Marksman Rifle/Fusil de Tireur (Available for Export)
A larger rifle, the M36A1 is an up-sized and modified version of the M23A2, chambered for 6.5x51mm CT cartridges (51mm being total length of the entire round, not just the casing, a critical difference compared to 7.62mm NATO or similar). The M36 is issued to designated marksmen and sharpshooters in the regular infantry, as well as being issued at choice for SFC soldiers, and does not have the ability to fire on full-auto, as the more powerful round makes rapid fire difficult to control. As a result, only semi-auto fire is available for use on the rifle. It can be fitted with a more powerful optical sight than the 4x magnification optical sight issued as standard with the M23 and M36. Ammunition is carried in 20-round magazines.

Phased out in favor of the M37.
