The Democartic Peoples Republic of New West Guiana is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Permier Louis DeCader with a fair hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls, national health service, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic, devout population of 19.597 billion West Guianans are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Welfare, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gemsbrook. The average income tax rate is 93.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The very strong New West Guianan economy, worth a remarkable 1,636 trillion WG Dollars a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity. The industrial sector, which is highly specialized, is mostly made up of the Book Publishing industry, with significant contributions from Arms Manufacturing and Information Technology. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 83,484 WG Dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Houses and businesses are bulldozed to make way for ever-expanding cemeteries, nuclear physics is the most popular course at university, Black Jay-Hawk is one of the most popular forenames in New West Guiana, and vacationers and business travelers are often warned that they may lose the right to vote if they spend too much time overseas. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New West Guiana's national animal is the Black Jay-Hawk, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies, and its national religion is Atheism.

New West Guiana is ranked 51,069th in the world and 56th in Atlantian Oceania for Most Efficient Economies, scoring 80.08 on the Krugman-Greenspan Business Outlook Index.
