Formation of the Federation of New Superstan [VERY MUCH WIP]

1954, March: Supertopia declares independence
Supertopia was one of the larger cities of Graktia, which had been in a civil war since 1980 following the outer territories declaring independence. Graktia siphoned much of Supertopia's industrial production, and had just declared a new wave of mass conscription in February that year. Feeling unrepresented culturally and politically, many Supertopians wanted independence. Alex Araquin, the mayor of Supertopia transmitted the Supertopian Declaration of Independence.
The recently conscripted Supertopian Soldiers also mutinied from the Graktian Military, rejoining the now Rogue State of Supertopia.

1956, May: First battle of Supertopia
Initially, due to the civil war, Graktia were unable to respond to Supertopia's secession, however, in May they finally dedicated resources and troops to regaining the city. Despite it's strong industrial base, Supertopia was reliant on the support of corporations to import vital supplies such as food and armoured vehicles - in exchange these corporations gained significant political power in Supertopia.
Graktian forces began to assault the city on the 3rd of March, however, their progress was significantly slowed by militia groups.

1956, June: Graktian forces retreat
Finally, following prolonged fighting in the streets, Graktian forces finally pulled out of Supertopia, losing what little ground they had gained. Despite the area being devastated, Supertopian's saw this victory as a testament to their strength, and this only lead to increased government and war support.
Seeing the success of Supertopia in not only gaining their independence but maintaining it from the Graktian armed forces, many other neighbouring cities also elected to break free from Graktia, confederating with Supertopia. They exchanged resources with the city, which provided them with weaponry and soldiers to secure their borders. This also allowed for access to a port, allowing the Federation to import more goods.

1958, September - November: The Winter War
From 2nd September, Graktian forces again concentrated on Supertopia, engaging the federation in a prolonged conflict. The outer cities were largely devastated by the fighting, however, Graktian forces were unable to make any significant ground and morale was low. However, in November, under new leadership, they were able to capture a number of smaller Federation cities, significantly setting back the Federation war effort - yet again corporations were able to keep the federation supplied with vital resources, from the port city of Meshtillia, who had close ties to Supertopia and were of the first cities to confederate with them.
Halfway through November, Supertopian forces spearheaded a Federation assault on occupied territories, and were able to push out the Graktian forces. By the end of November, Graktian forces were pushed out of federation land, and many Graktian military supplies had been seized by Federation forces - clearly Graktia hadn't expected such an effective counterattack.

1958, December: The Christmas Truce and the official formation of the Federation of Superstan
Despite the Winter War ending, the overall war for independence had not, Federation forces capitalised on their momentum, and were able to capture small towns and factories from Graktia. Finally, on 20th December, a Graktian delegate headed to Supertopia to negotiate a truce. Following this, the federation were recognised as official nations by Graktia, and peace was achieved for now.
Following this, Independence Day become a national holiday in all federation territories, furthermore, the Federation officially changed it's name to the Federation of Superstan, with Supertopia being the capital of the Federation.

1959, February: Golden Age
Following pressure from nations that the Federation needed to be more unified, Araquin and the council elected to standardise the currency of nations within the Federation, creating the Super Dollar. This lead to an economic boom within the Federation nations, especially as they were now able to trade with one another more effectively, culminating in vastly higher incomes in all federation territories.
Meanwhile, tensions with Graktia remained high, and it was decreed that the defence budget should increase, leading to the development of new weaponry and vehicles for the Federation military.

1959, April: Under new leadership
Following a series of military failures, the Graktian leadership were overthrown, with high ranking military commanders taking control of the nation. This quickly resulted in Graktian forces beginning to make progress against all rebelling nations, as the civil war still raged on. In response to this, the Federation began to fortify the Zapesh Ridge, hopefully slowing a Graktian advance. The outer cities were opposed to this however, citing that it was unfair that they were not protected as much as the core federation territories, however, when it was put to a vote, they begrudgingly accepted that resources be dedicated to the Zapesh Ridge due to it's strategic importance. It was at this time investment into military R&D increased and the Federation started to create a shared airforce using prototype technology.

1961, August: Tumultuous times
In July, the Graktian civil war ended, with Graktia being able to reclaim most of their former territories. As Graktian forces began to mobilise on the border, outer Federation territories wished to surrender, they were not protected by the Zapesh Ridge line, and they did not want their cities reduced to ruins once again like the first war, however, Supertopia promised to secure the border, and promised to ensure not one Graktian soldier would set foot in their cities. Despite this, their loyalty to the Federation remained dubious.
It was at this time that people were urged to join the military, and recruitment numbers soared to as high as 300% as the previous year per capita.

1962, April - 1967, July: The Grand War
From 1962 to 1967, the Federation and Graktia were locked in a long and bloody conflict, whilst most of the outer and even some of the core Federation territories were devastated by the fighting, with a few minor towns being completely abandoned following the conflict, the Federation were able to win and gain even more land. As well as this, Alex Araquin had managed to secure more support and political power, leveraging his emergency powers to sway the Federation in his favour.

1969, February: The Great Purge
Although the war was over, tensions between Federation territories and Graktia still remained high. Alex Araquin accused all of his political opponents of being conspirators with Graktia, and that if they were allowed any power all the Federation would become subservient to Graktia once more. Despite having no proof of this, many of these people were exiled from the Federation or killed by angry mobs.
Alex Araquin was now the sole leader of the Federation.
