The Kingdom of Mount Zeon is a massive, orderly nation, ruled by Father John with an iron fist, and remarkable for its closed borders, frequent executions, and hatred of cheese. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 2.918 billion Zeonese are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Spirituality, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Jerusalem. The average income tax rate is 71.0%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient Zeonese economy, worth 141 trillion dollars a year, is quite specialized and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Uranium Mining, and Basket Weaving. Black market activity is rampant. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 48,583 dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.4 times as much as the poorest.

Glassy-eyed Zeonese wives lifelessly chant "I love you" on command, the nation's new religious police burn blasphemers on bonfires of their own books, most people think algebra is something a mermaid wears, and when it comes to WMDs Mount Zeon has declared that the only winning move is not to play. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Mount Zeon's national animal is the lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is the Church of the True Spirit.

Mount Zeon is ranked 488th in the world and 1st in The Cornellian Empire for Most Ignorant Citizens, with 75.8 Missed References Per Hour.
