History:

The Mokan Orthopraxis Church came into existence during the era of Revolution in the 1800s when it became apparent that due to cultural differences and variety of the Mokan Region, western Catholicism was not ideal for the population. In short, Mokan Othropraxis Christianity focuses on aiding the weak and impoverished, and is similar to "Liberation Theology" found elsewhere in the world.

In the early 1800s, many churches found their donations were going to the construction of major Cathedrals in large cities or back to western empires, while the poor and disenfranchised of the Mokan territories begged on the street. A man by the name of Father Julep began circulating idea of reform in the Mokan churches. In 1837 the First Council of Patriarchs met in 1st Cathedral of San Alvido, and determined a break from the Holy Catholic Church was needed. The idea was to return to the traditional practices preached by Jesus Christ, focusing on aiding those in need and serving the disenfranchised. Because the focus was a return to traditional actions rather than beliefs, they renamed their church "Orthopraxis" rather than "Orthodox."

After the founding of The Mokan Orthodopraxis Church many Catholic sympathizers, considering the break away an act of blasphemy, began launching attacks against the newly formed Orthopraxis Church. In response, many followers formed the protective militias and began to reclaim Cathedrals. Though non violence was still tennat of Orthopraxis Beliefs, these militias proved valuable in aiding and protecting the churches and members in time of need. A second meeting of the Council of Patriarchs was called, which then cemented the structure of the new church and determine how to handle the rise in violence. From this meeting a truce was made with Catholic leaders, allowing local churches to decide whether to join the new church or remain Catholic. Both sides condemned the violence and sent orders to cease.

As for the New Church, they would have Four main ‘Orders’ to maintain the beliefs and control. In charge of the church would be the Patriarchal Council, with members elected by their district/Cathedral area.

Orders:

Order of the Word
“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”
White Collars- The word must remain pure, as any imperfection is made clear on white cloth, so is any in the Word.

The Priests who lead their own churches. They would be required to study at a Cathedral before being given a flock to tend. However, a Priest may select one member of his flock every year to go study to become a member of this Order.

The Order of our Grace
"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have illness, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

Red Collars- The blood of God's sacrificial lamb has saved our souls, in Honor of this we save others.

The charitable arm of the church, who works to ensure the church does not over indulge in luxury and focuses on taking care of the poor. Member of the Flock can be selected by their Priest to go study and commune with older members of this order and may join. They will become the organizers of Church efforts to help out the meek.

Order of the Stone
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be lost in heaven.”

Green Collars - The Church relies on our abilities, we are the foundation from which it grows.

The training and building arm of the church. It was their duty to not only train priest in the other Orders, but to maintain the Cathedrals and important works/documents of the Church. Depending on duty, one could volunteer to join, or be required to have served in another order to be eligible for membership.

Order of the Guards.
"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.”

”Put up again thy sword into his place, for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword."

Dark Grey Collars- we are tainted, giving ourselves into sin to protect those more pure than ourselves. Though fallen, we will return to the flock when our duty is done.

Added last after the fourth meeting of the Patriarchal Council, it was originally a tool to legitimize and control pro Othopraxis militias. While some did launch attacks against Catholics, these militias proved useful against raiders and criminals who took advantage of the Church's attempts to aide the weak. The motto of the Guards is unique, in that it is the only motto not spoken by Jesus Christ himself. Unlike other orders, rather than an Amen, members repeat back a quote from Christ: ”For all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword." A quote from Christ, reminding them violence should always be a last resort.
