The New Alternate Republic of Martune is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by President Brian Mills with a fair hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, smutty television, and public floggings. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, devout population of 6.982 billion Martuneans hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Pearl Bay. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7.9%.

The frighteningly efficient Martunean economy, worth 883 trillion Liberty Dollars a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Automobile Manufacturing, and Uranium Mining. Average income is an impressive 126,542 Liberty Dollars, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 448,710 per year while the poor average 25,742, a ratio of 17.4 to 1.

The government is deliberately installing bloatware onto computers, dog owners proudly declare that their pups can predict when the mailman will arrive, drawing men's naughty bits isn't considered to be art, and acute politicians deride opposition members for being obtuse. Crime, especially youth-related, is almost non-existent. Martune's national animal is the Mountain Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.

Martune is ranked 74,494th in the world and 40th in The Bar on the corner of every region for Most Influential, scoring 135 on the Soft Power Disbursement Rating.
