Two centuries ago, the Dinal Republic was formed, and encompassed three regions: Maltaron, Liotpa and Pelan.
Over the course of its existence, the Dinal Republic became more and more influenced by the Tumil religion.
Originating from Pelan, this religion has ever been a large part of Pelanese politics, and it grew in power under the Republic. Soon, it had become a central figure in the Liotpan region as well.
However, Maltaron had always been against the involvement of religion in affairs of state, and this led to power struggles between the three regions. Maltaron was stronger than Liotpa and Pelan, but Maltaron did not want tensions to escalate up to the point of no return. A civil war was the last thing that any of the regions wanted. After a slew of diplomatic negotiations between all parties involved, it was agreed that Maltaron would become independent. The Dinal Republic was disbanded and replaced with the Liopta-Pelan Alliance, made up of Liotpa and Pelan.
Maltaron, for the first time in five hundred years, is its own autonomous State.
