Overview Dispatches People Government Economy Rank Trend

The People's Republic of Llorens is a massive, genial nation, ruled by President Elisabeth Harland with a fair hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space, anti-smoking policies, and national health service. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 1.471 billion Llorenians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Environment, and Welfare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zexaro. The average income tax rate is 98.6%.

The all-consuming Llorenian economy, worth 193 trillion llorenÁs a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is extremely specialized, is mostly made up of the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Tourism. State-owned companies are the norm. Average income is an impressive 131,658 llorenÁs, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Prime commercial land is being swamped with archaeological teams, almost all of Llorens's water is piped into the country from abroad for exorbitant prices, students are known to arrive at school in their pyjamas, and the Llorens Mental Asylum Party have recently won seats in parliament. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Llorens's national animal is the loquito, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Llorens is ranked 1,590th in the world and 6th in The Leftist Assembly for Most Cheerful Citizens, with 70.57 Percentage Of Water Glasses Perceived Half-Full.
