The Republic of Lianhua is a very large, socially progressive nation, notable for its frequent executions, compulsory military service, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working population of 115 million Lianhuanese are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The relatively small government is dominated by the Department of Defense, although Law & Order, Public Transport, and Healthcare are also considered important, while Spirituality and International Aid receive no funds. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8.7%.

The very strong Lianhuanese economy, worth 8.21 trillion lotuses a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Gambling, Retail, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 71,370 lotuses, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 212,563 per year while the poor average 18,774, a ratio of 11.3 to 1.

Real estate agencies are being replaced by naval recruitment offices, peace talks occasionally rack up a higher body count than the wars they seek to stop, the children of Lianhua are often remarked upon for their cheery attitude to extreme violence, and commuter vessels have trouble staying afloat due to increased passengers. Crime is moderate, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Lianhua's national animal is the dragon, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Lianhua is ranked 159,836th in the world and 39th in Meihua for Most Inclusive, scoring 49.03 on the Mandela-Wollstonecraft Non-Discrimination Index.
