Political Views

Dr Byrne is ideologically a moderate and a centrist. He was the leader of the Liberal League from 2016 and stepped down in 2018 to fulfil his duties as Councillor of Health and Federal Chancellor. He believes in democracy, the will of the people and fundamental human rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.

Dr Byrne is opposed to totalitarian and dictatorial ideologies and their implementation. He is an opponent of theocracy, oligarchy and other anti-freedom systems. Dr Byrne has approved of military and political-economical interventions, particularly against highly authoritarian regimes. He has openly denounced old regimes previously sanctioned and supported by the Commonwealth of Kyria, and has dreamt of a world united in freedom and purpose.

In regards to economics, Dr Byrne is a self-declared capitalist and encourages venture capitalism and entrepreneurship. He personally has dabbled in business, trying to build his wealth though stocks and investment. Whilst he has not had the best luck or skill, he believes anyone can direct their lives however they wish with a good enough starting point. This is where he supports social and economic programmes to aid people in becoming capitalists and not just consumers.

Religious Views

Dr Byrne is not a religious or spiritual man. He is an atheist, and has always been skeptical of religion and superstition. He did not grow up in a religious household nor did he pay attention to preachers or priests in his youth. Once or twice in his earlier life he truly tried to find faith, but his efforts failed spectacularly whenever he was reminded of the injustices and terrors of the world, especially those not made by man.

In his adulthood, Dr Byrne typically avoids evangelicals and other types. He and his spouse Sayer have been raising their son without religion, and have instead been teaching him to have a critical mind and to ask questions. However, Arthur has stressed tolerance of religion and faith to his son, but tells him to not tolerate intolerance.
